  1. I understand. I don't think she's that smart to not include specifics. Makes me think she's just starting out in the business and hasn't done her research.
  2. 1. Maybe she was trying to see how much you charge because she has no idea about wholesale pricing and has an offer on her end. 2. Maybe she found someone else to do them and changed her mind about you. No telling how many people she contacted before you.
  3. Awesome! Thanks.. I didnt order it yet so thats good. I'm going to check out Elements. And u r so righ about the clamshells.. I havent done a show yet but I could imagine myself getting annoyed with people popping open my clamshells and breaking them in the process. I have broke a couple myself and just use them because I dont want to sell them broke already..
  4. Those are so freakin cute lol.. Definitely a good way to present the scent and the candle. Do you remember where you found the case to carry them and how many it will hold?
  5. No. That is not what I'm going for. Homemade yes. Cheap no. People already know their homemade. I prefer homemade in an apothecary jar. I'll see how they sell in this neck Of the woods.
  6. Wow I never knew jelly jars sold so well. I never liked them (thought they looked too homemade and cheap) so I went with the apothecary jars (16oz and 26oz). Please don't attack me for thinking so but I can't help what I felt. If I would have known they were so popular I would have at least tried to sell them. My husband and I love the apothecary jars but jelly ones could have definitely saved us some money. As for what sells the most.. couldn't tell ya since we are still a brand new company and won't be having our first craft show until May. We also sell 8oz tins and have tried 7oz and 10oz monticiano tumblers (I think that's what they are called). Working with the 8 oz tins is what I like best so far. I may try jelly jars once I start getting money back from everything I've already ordered. :smiley2:
  7. They are not supposed to represent candles. They are used to sample "scents". If it was my situation I would bring a few candles and scent samples.

    Warning Label?

Makes perfect sense! Glad I only made 8 of these lol.. Now its time to re-word some things.
  9. Well the poll is simply asking what you do and how you do it (full-time/part-time)... not how you are able to financially survive and if this is your sole source of income. We all should understand everybody's situation is different. It's not that deep. I'm simply asking out of curiosity a.k.a. being nosy. Sorry to anyone being mislead...
  10. Just curious so I added a poll. I was laid off and have no choice right now but to dedicate myself full-time. Just wondering who else is or isn't doing the same.
  11. Great tip! Thanks!! And yes those rims ARE wicked lol...

    Warning Label?

I did a search on here and came up with a lady who said it is fine to cut and paste her wording so here it is: CAUTION: Use only with a UL approved electric candle warmer on a stable heat-resistant surface. Do not cover, add water or warm on stove. Remove lid and all labels before use. Wax and container can get very hot; do not touch or move container or warmer until completely cooled. Contains fragrance oils that can be toxic if ingested. Keep candle, cord, and unit out of reach of children and pets. Do not pour wax down the drain because it can clog pipes. Never leave melting candle unattended. Then I put them on my avery labels (the name badge ones) and this is what I have for clamshells. ETA: I rotate the wording so it fits like this. HTH!
  13. Ok.. I pour at 135-140. Maybe that's it? And goo gone.. yeah I need to get some since my wax likes to stick around in the molds. I need to try the dixie way too though. Thank you!!
  14. Excellent idea!! Thanks! I'm so impatient and don't want to wait for that Krylon stuff lol.. Been making candles like crazy and ready to label them already!
  15. Thanks Wessex. Mine never smudged either but with my luck I picture somebody's sweaty palms grabbing my candle at a craft show and smearing the ink lol.. Just a fear I have. With Spring/ Summer around the corner and Georgia weather.. Trying to be safe than sorry. It will be my first time taking my candles to the public (well strangers) and I would hate to be embarrassed. :smiley2:
  16. For those of you who use them, and use the clear labels, and possibly the inkjet clear labels... did you purchase that Krylon preserve it spray so the print won't smudge? If not, is there something else I can use? I can't find the Krylon "preserve it" in the store.. only online and I need something like yesterday. But if I have to get it online, eh I will. :rolleyes2 Thank you
  17. Awesome idea!! Thanks!! Maybe it is the wax. It always forms around and underneath the wick pin. So bad to where I have to stick it on my warmer to melt it a little then get the pin out by tapping it with a hammer (which may be why they are sometimes crooked). Going to get those dixies tomorrow!
  18. Thanks and thanks to the lady who showed me how to do it Lol..
  19. I use Cb pb and my molds came from lonestar along with the wick pins. I never sold votives and I'm thinking about not EVER selling votives but I am trying to make them for my home party coming up to give as gifts. 1. My mold almost ALWAYS leave wax residue behind (I do use mold release) 2. Sometimes my votives crack in the process of trying to take the wick pin out. 2. My wick pins almost always seem crooked 3. It's nearly impossible to get those wicks pins out! Mold release does nothing. The freezer makes the votive easier to crack. 4. I already sliced my finger on these votive molds and I conclude I HATE my votive molds!!! Anyone have any tips on how to work with these things??? Thanks.
