  1. I'm sorry.. I read granddaughter but wrote grandson thinking about my son. :embarasse Your "granddaughter" is adorable.
  2. Their site reads: FRAGRANCE SCENT DESCRIPTIONS Due to the subjectivity of smell, we do not list fragrance descriptions. Obviously many scents are self-explanatory, such as Apple Pie, Wild Cherry, etc.. We also realize that many scent names have no descriptive nature to them, but we do not want to mislead you with an opinionated description. ___________________ Well that's just dumb. Scent descriptions give an "idea" of what to look for. Nothing wrong with that. Sounds like they are just being lazy about it.
  3. I LOVE the look of adv but hate the HT. I have better luck with mixing 464 and adv. I'm testing a jar now with the mix and smell a 8oz "jamaica me crazy" candle from my kitchen to my living room. i do live in a 2 bed apartment but believe me I couldn't get the adv to throw right in front of my face. Here are the tops of my candles with 464/cba.
  4. I haven't tried CS red hot cinnamon but I did try cinnamon sticks and tested it as a tart and I didn't like it at all. If it can't throw in a tart I won't test it as a candle. My tarts are always stronger than my candles. Plus it had a very dull smell. I like cinnamon strong enough to burn my nose hairs. I need to try the red hot cinnamon.
  5. Your store looks nice! I love pink... I would share but I don't have a store front, just work out of my kitchen :smiley2:. Your grandson is adorable!
  6. I thought it was just me and my husband because a lot of people use them on here. To me it smells like something chemical-ish... To my hubby he said like something's burning Lol.. It's just a smell that doesn't belong there. You might not have the same experience.
  7. Yes Stella you are so right. It caught up. I have 1/4 left to burn and the glass is pretty much clean. Thank you!
  8. Yes. I was just trying to see if anyone noticed it making a difference in sales. If it doesn't make that big a difference I do not want to pay for it. I've seen it range from $5.00 to $50.00. I don't mind paying $5 but $50? No way, especially if its outside (good point). Thanks you guys!
  9. Do you use electricity to market your candles at craft fairs.. like for a candle warmer or do most of you do without electricity just let them smell the cold throw? I know a warmer doesn't represent the throw of a candle but is it good for marketing tarts and bringing people to your booth? Or has anyone noticed a difference?
  10. Do you prefer a space with electricity or without? Why or why not?
  11. Skinny Dippin' Scentsy Bar Fresh green apples perfectly harmonized with refreshing melons and juicy pears Natures Garden Butt Naked Fragrance: A Best Seller! We have had so many requests for this...now we have it! The tantalizing base note medley of granny smith apples and honeydew melon, middle notes of strawberries and pears, with hints of spice. _________________________________________ I haven't smelled either but when you said skinny dipping I immediately thought hmmm.. butt naked. My sister was just telling me how good butt naked smells:cheesy2:.
  12. What do you do when you like working with a certain wick that doesn't like working with you??? So far I've had GREAT luck with cd wicks in a cba/464 blend. I'm trying to correctly wick a 10oz frosted tumbler (new jar :smiley2:), 3" diameter, fo oakmoss and amber, no dye, no other additives. My cd 14 leaves hangup and the cd 16 seems to burn too fast with too big a flame. The cd 14 has a nice flame, not too big or small but leaves a thick film too thin to call "tunneling" I believe. Looks like if you took some mayo and spread it on a piece of bread for a sandwich, it's that thick. I'm halfway through the test burn and its not catching up. CS recommends a Eco 14 for that size jar but I swear I smell something funny whenever I've used Eco wicks so I've abandoned them. Is there something else I can do with the Cd's? Is it dumb to double wick a jar this size? Or do I need to let go of the cd's and try something else? TIA
  13. I noticed that today when I placed my 2nd order... :tiptoe:
  14. Thank you! And that's good advice for sales . As for the tins, I think it depends.. the 6 people that came are from big cities in New York and California. They didn't even open a jelly jar to smell it (seriously). Now being in Georgia I think they may do well at the fairs. I sold my 8 oz tins 2 for $10 for the candle party only. I sell them for $8 normally. The jelly jars are 16oz ball masons and I had them priced at $10.
  15. Thanks! Yes there was a good amount of food courtesy of my lovely sister!:yay:She was my co-host . I tried to give her free candles but she refused to take them and instead bought some from me... calls herself being supportive which she is and that is great but I really wanted her to take something for free . But she is as stubborn as me.
  16. Thanks you guys! Yes it was perfect practice. I even got some critique and was told I'm a horrible salesperson Lol.. I know I need to work on my people skills. I get so nervous my mind just goes blank. That same person said I'm lucky the candles were selling themselves which was true. But I still need to talk more and be able to sell more. I'm going to pick up a book on public speaking and marketing. Also, as you can see from the picture, I tried out the jelly jars with a few scents but didn't sell any with this crowd. I'm thinking they might do better at a fair though. SO Glad the party's over with! And I officially received word I was accepted for the craft fair on April 30th!! Can't wait...
  17. So the party was last night and turned out pretty good. Out of 80 something people we invited only 6 came. There were thunderstorms so I'm pretty glad they even showed up. I made $207! Yay!! More than I expected. My tins did really well. I took sliverofwax's and mparadise's advice and lowered the price to $5 by doing a two for $10 special. I sold two warmers, 2 16oz apothecary jars, some tarts, and had a few outside orders for more tins! The pics below are of my set up and food table. The camera is a little sucky but I think it turned out nice.
  18. It defintely seems more risky taking an imprint of credit cards and taking them home as opposed to using Square. I downloaded the app a few days ago and tested it with a cash payment and two of my own debit cards. I am not able to view the card numbers after the transactions (except for the last 4 digits). Seems pretty good to me. I read the article too and saw the advertisement on the bottom of the screen wanting me to sign up with PAYware mobile as opposed to Square. Sounds like they may be losing customers to square and are a little bitter.
  19. I wasn't too fond of basil and herb either. Out of 36 samples I plan to use all but basil and herb, kettle corn, and I didnt like blackberry marmalade. I LOVE honeysuckle and caribbean teakwood.
  20. Same here. It smells really good and I usually despise florals. I like Plumeria also.
  21. Wow! Lovin the reviews! Can't wait for my box tomorrow!!:yay:
  22. Wish I had your problem . That's awesome!
  23. I use a CD14 most of the time. Which I think is similar to CDN14??
