  1. This is what I use. A cd 14 in a 8 oz square mason, but I do add CBA to 464. So far testing has been great! :smiley2:
  2. Wow.. this is so true. I wish soy colored better cause my red hot cinnamon color usually comes out looking a gross pink color. And green apple? Yeah comes out looking like you don't wanna know... Well I ordered some liquid to see if it colors better than the blocks but I think I'll never be satisfied with the way soy looks in certain colors. sigh...
  3. Also I never go into paraffin being natural or unnatural on my site or in person. I simply state the benefits of soy. I don't say "burns cleaner" but I will say "burns clean". I don't say paraffin "causes cancer" but I will say soy does not release toxic chemicals. I don't bash but I will use certain points that will help sell my product. Almost every website that sells soy has a "why soy?" Section lol... Personally I believe almost everything we have on earth nowadays causes cancer (and other disease for that master)!!! Especially the crap that's in our food but that's a whole nother conversation. And if you wonder why I chose soy, it's because it didn't give me headaches and was much easier to work with imo. Has nothing to do with trying to sell to any particular market or "going green". I am probably the least "green" person you will ever meet. I use paper plates instead of washing dishes and when I'm done with my gum wrapper YEP I throw it out the window. Sad but true.
  4. I understand what youre saying stella and have already heard and read plenty about that argument that's why I wrote "natural" in parenthesis but too many people (customers) believe what they have already heard and that is that soy is a more green-friendly, natural product. Not saying it's what I do or don't believe but it's what "they" believe so I can't change that or even try to for that matter.
  5. See. This is what I don't understand. I think color candles are fine for a paraffin candle but if you're interested in soy shouldn't you understand and almost expect a more "natural" look? I don't know.. it's something for me to think about. That's why I asked the question... Thanks for everyone's input!
  6. Thanks!! And I'm curious what type of dye you use as far as chips, blocks, liquid...? Gosh I hate that so many people judge a candle by its color.
  7. I have no tips sorry.:lipsrseal But wanted to say good luck and take pics!!! My first one is at the end of the month too!! Have you already printed the craft fair tips above??? It's my FAIR BIBLE Lol... I look forward to the responses in this thread too.
  8. For those of you that sell soy candles without color, have you had a number of requests to make a candle with color? Do you or will you honor that request? I make my candles dye-free. I LOVE the look of it as far as container candles are concerned (I am starting to dye my clamshells). I did a poll on fb of what people prefer, color vs non-color and found out that 9/10 prefer color and said they would walk past a booth that offered naturally colored soy candles. Now this is not necessairly a poll from my target market (and only 10 people took the poll literally) but I just wanted a general idea of how "some" average people think. So for those who do not add dye to your candles, have you ever been concerned about these types of people who think no color equals less scent??? Or who just love colored candles because its what they are used to?? What explanation do you give as to why you don't dye your candles? I have no technical explanation, I just love the way it looks.
  9. Who has the best one? I've smelled Miami Erie's which is SO SO SO different from Aroma Haven's. I don't even see how their both called monkey farts . But anyway.. for those of you who carry it, which supplier has the best one to you?
  10. Wow hollywood video? Lol I forgot about them! Havent seen one in years. I didnt realize it was so different everywhere. I was just so excited to get some deeply discounted things! I forgot about barnes abd nobles... Sucks cause I like them.
  11. I use CS also and it does throw like crazy...
  12. Oooh great! Thank u very much!
  13. What do you use to cut the wicks after making a candle in a somewhat narrow jar.. well not narrow but like the 8oz square Mason jar. I use small scissors but it's a little awkward and cuts the wick at a slant if I can't reach it well enough. I read the wick trimmers are only good for burned wicks not fresh ones. So what do you use? TIA
  14. Has anyone used these lids for smelly jellies? Is the lid secure, no leakage? Or is it better to get the plastic covers from BCS? TIA
  15. Thanks for all the responses! I've decided to give weebly a try since it's FREE and so far has way more options than vistaprint.
  16. Oh and FYI when I add dye.. the issues arise. Usually a hole near the wick...still workin that out. But if I stay dye-free its all good.
  17. I do 75% 464 to 25% cba. You might want to play around with it and see what you like best. But so far this ratio has been good to me.
  18. I just came from my local blockbuster and EVERYTHING is on sale!!! I got 3 five foot folding tables for $12.50 a piece.. They even have the display units that all the videos sit on for $12.50. They have folding chairs, racks, more shelving, table linens $5, etc... Go check them out if you have one! The manager said they are all going out of business! They drop the prices every Monday here in Georgia but then of course the longer you wait the riskier it gets of not getting what you want.
  19. $60 a year is better than $20 a month! Thanks for the info.. too bad I'm just realizing vistaprint wasn't the better deal. Now I'm learning different options. Guess I shoulda did my research better.
  20. Thanks!!! I'm reading about weebly now. I see it was voted one of the top free website builders. Oh and yes I will have to pay vistaprint to switch over my domain name. Booooooo.....
  21. I'm not too savvy either but it must because I don't pay anything else.... Do you pay for your domain monthly? Is it expensive?
  22. I'm confused how this whole scam even worked. Why would she pay $1500 for shipping wih her own money anyway?
  23. Thanks alwayswondering. I just looked up weebly and they have free hosting. Anybody use them? Any reviews? I'm sort of dreading this whole process of switching everything over but I don't want a site that has the exact same design as someone else's. And I'm paying $20 a month? I'm working on getting a logo too so I want a site that will let me use it in the design.
  24. I have a website through vistaprint which I pay $20 a month for. Are there any free websites you guys know of or someplace cheaper than the $20 a month I pay now? Any advice from those who use Yola or godaddy? I love the ease of vistaprint but would rather not have to pay a monthly fee if I don't have to. Another reason I would like to change my site is because I saw another chandler with the exact same one. No one on the boards, just some random lady who sells candles and purses. No bueno lol.. Thank you!
