I have been playing around with this calc but it doesn't give you any soap qualities. Is there someplace where I can go and see what percentages of the oils you can or should use? For example is there a certain percentage of castor you shouldn't go over. I know the coconut oil can be used up to 90% but it could be drying that way. TIA
I have been reading and searching and was wondering about coming up with a good recipe. Do ya'll use the soap calc like you would for CP for LS except changing the lye type? I am looking at different recipes in the book that I have. TIA
Well they do give a range of 110 to 120 for you lye and oils to be. The ranges vary from site to site. You aren't suppose to peek. lmao Have you tried the CPOP way?
If your oils are a tad warmer I don't see a problem. I could never get the lye and oils at the same temps anyway. One would always be cooler than the other. With that said I don't even take the temp of the lye and oils anymore. HTH
I get the mailing boxes from Staple's. They are stackable and I don't have a problem with the bars falling over. I also use shoe boxes (cardboard ones). HTH
I think if I am going to have to start adding additives to the 4625 I will just go back to my testing 1343 to get what I want. At least I have a couple of slabs broken up of that. :undecided
I would think you could turn the heating pad off but I never used a heating pad before so I really don't know. I just leave everything wrapped in towel and blankets on the top of my dryer. lol Sorry I can't be of anymore help.
I have a book called Making Natural Liquid Soaps by Catherine Failor. I have read it over and over again and there are some questions I need to ask but they may seem dumb. Which process does everyone here use (1) the paste method (2) the alcohol/lye method or is there another method? How do you formulate your recipe and which calculator do you use for the KOH? Yes I am confused and need all the help I can get at this point. I may have left something else out here but not sure. TIA
