  1. Yeah...this stinks for everyone. Five bags...ouch!. Right now, I'm so bummed about it as we were in the testing phase and things were going fantastic. I've decided I would wait for a little while unless we can pick some up from another supplier as we're heading to Ohio next week for a few days. I do think that's a good idea Steve...that would solve so many problems and save everyone time and money. That sniff test did it for me. As soon as I opened the bag I knew it was different. And as for the tester I poured...it was Blueberry Cobbler from NG...wicked a JJ with a CSN9 and it did pretty well. Actually smelled pretty amazing, but just not glass glow. I'm sure CS will be glad when this nightmare is over. BTW...I got an email confirmation just today that the bag had been received and a credit would be coming.
  2. As for me, I did get an email back from Diane. I sent my case of palm back to them the next day. They got it on Tuesday (26th). I'm just awaiting my account to be credited. At this point, I do have the sample I'm working with from another supplier. It's the original GG. I emailed them asking if they had more in stock as we were going by there next week and could pick up several cases. I haven't heard from them. I'll call them tomorrow to see. I'd love to get it from CS...but just don't want to keep playing "hit or miss". How about you?
  3. Thanks Chris. Haven't gotten around to blending and testing this yet. Hopefully tomorrow. I appreciate the suggestions. Oh... TallTayl...you are right. Found this fragrance in a soap and sure enough it's got cedarwood in it. So that must be the "burnt" part of the blend. (You're good!)
  4. We originally started with 464 and like everyone else, got tired of the frosting. So, I ordered a case of the cb advanced prior to finding this board. I was so excited based on the reviews on WSP site. (Duh...there's only two reviews. That should have been a clue) So, I decided to either try to mix it with some paraffin or simply offer it as non scented candles or tealights. Big waste of money as far as I'm concerned. It works for some...just not for us. I didn't have the time, money or patience to test to see what strong fragrances are good in it. Wish I could be more positive...but maybe someone who still uses it and has great success can help. I did order a sample of the CB135 and haven't tested it yet. Probably will blend it with some paraffin like EricofAZ does. The 464 is still a pretty decent soy even if it does frost a bit.
  5. Thanks TallTayl...appreciate the suggestions. Will give it go and see what we come up with.
  6. Thanks Ravens....We live in SC on the coast. That's one reason we chose to get our supplies from CS originally...but now use them because of quality, quick shipping and great Customer Service. I know WSP carries both and actually their cost for a case of J50 including shipping was cheaper than CS, but CS ships same day...sometimes WSP takes a day or two to get the order out the door. Next time I'll go through WSP, but just place the order much sooner than I need/want it. (Would love to have Lonestar closer though) I also checked out Cajun, TCS, KY and TriState.
  7. Burnt Orange Patchouli? I have Orange and Patchouli EO's, but what would the "burnt" in the description be? If I were to use only these two EO's ... would you suggest a 50/50 mix or whichever scent I want to be dominate? Oh...also...would I get DOS with this combination?
  8. OK....I did it. I ordered J50. I kept going back and forth between J50 and J223. I kept reading the board over and over and... (you get the point), and it looks as though it's a 50/50 choice between the two. Then I started looking at all the blends...from company to company...more reading...back to the board. So, I went with what I know. MY Gosh...you would think I was buying a house! I don't know why...maybe it's because I don't know J223 and it's that thinking of "grass being greener on the other side". Anyway, I'm looking forward to using J50 again. I ordered it from CS, but had to order the zincs from TCS as CS doesn't carry them. I do notice though that CS recommends ECO wicks for J50. I don't think these were available when we poured J50 before. We do have some ECOs, and we'll give those a try with the zincs too. More testing...... (Man...I would give anything to still have my notes from our previous business. NG was close to us and most of our 150 oils came from them...every oil had been tested in J50...now to start over
  9. Hey everyone...haven't been on here for a couple of days and really appreciate the comments...and they really got me to thinking. Since getting back into candlemaking after taking some time off, I have struggled like crazy with the different waxes out there now. I think I'm trying to do to much. We have 464 and have been working with it for about a year now. We got a case of palm and love it too. But I really miss amazingly scented candles. So, I'm gonna have to jump in...I'm wasting too much time and money on stuff I'm not thrilled with. So...a question for you if you don't mind. I used J50 as I mentioned. At that time, we used zincs. Can I ask any J50 users (or J223 users as well), which wick have you been using that's been successful? I also remember using vybar, not only for our containers, but a different one for our pillar/votive wax. We are also searching for our "old wax" for pillars/votives. It had amazing throw. I belive it was MP145? Can't remember. Anyway, King House Candle Supply carried it (they were in WV) Is that still around and carried by another supplier? I know this is alot of questions, but any help would be appreciated. And Coconut....you're right...I'm gettin' tired of reinventing the wheel and I love my hair as it is. Thanks guys
  10. We poured 4627 yesterday morning. We poured three 8 ounce jelly jars, wicked each with one of the suggested wicks from CS wick guide for testing (HTP52, LX16 and ECO2) and used CS Cinnamon Buns (1 oz/lb). Right now the HTP52 seems waaaay too small. I thought that seemed small, but it was suggested as one of the wicks to test, so we tried it. The LX and ECO are real similar in their burning, but we'll have to watch to see how they do as we continue to test. Anyway, we've been working with soy "forever" trying to get an awesome HT, but just can't. I know many do, but we just can't. We used J50 with our previous business and remembered that amazing throw before switching over to soy. OMG....I forgot what a very strong scent throw was really like. Our rooms are huge with an open floor plan and loft and this entire house smells like Cinnamon Buns. :yay:We'll continue to test this wax and try a few more fragrances in this as we go. I'm getting ready to place an order with NG for Blueberry Muffin. For 4627 users who happen to get fos from them...any "knock your socks off" fo suggestions for this wax ? I'm so excited to actually have a strongly scented candle....now "just" getting through the wick testing phase.
  11. Ok...thanks guys. Since I don't have 100% soy on hand, I decided to try the 4627 on it's own. We wicked three jelly jars, each with the recommendations on CS site. So, we'll see how they do on the test burn. Thanks again.
  12. Yeah, I figured it was. What a pain in the butt. :angry2:I sent Diane an email right away as she asked me to keep her posted. That was on Tuesday and haven't heard anything back yet. I'll give it a little while longer and then call them later on in the day. I did get a sample from another supplier and it's workin' like a charm.
  13. We've decided to use part of tomorrow to play around with some wax samples we have in stock while the whole GG thing gets figured out. I've searched the board till my head hurts. So maybe someone can help. We've got CB Advanced, CB 135, GB 464 and paraffin 4627. So if we are going to use, lets say, 4627 and the 464, and not sure if we're going to do a 70/30 blend or 50/50. But, would we wick according to the soy, or the paraffin? I've looked at some blends available thru some suppliers, trying to get a feel for what they suggest as to heating/pouring temps, but they vary. Any suggestions?
  14. We just made up several batches a couple of weeks ago 4 part beads to 1 part oil. And for some of the oils it did take longer. Some we had to add more beads to. Some oils are just finicky and take a little longer. We have ours stored in large 32 ounce jars and we do the whole "shake, rattle and roll" too...and sometimes it just takes longer. I need patience with these too. Can I ask where you get your beads. We got ours from Cajun Candle.
  15. Got my bag from CS yesterday and tested a jelly jar right away. So disappointed. The three hex jars are from the previous shipment of GG. Awaiting an email back from CS as to what to do with this bag of "fake gg".
  16. Ditto what Candybee said. We are getting another bag of GG today and will continue our testing this week. We have found adjusting the wicks, by one and sometimes two sizes (down usually), have proven successful. But everything Candybee said is right on. I love this wax. Gorgeous!
  17. That is so cool. Very nice...and love those colors!
  18. We just got a shipment from craftincrates.com. We placed an order one afternoon and the next morning they emailed us back letting us know the crates are made at time of order and estimated the shipping date. We received them the following week. They are very nice quality and was very cheap. Also, I got an email saying that I had a refund in my PayPal account from them for $3.18 because the shipping charges were a little less than figured. Fair, honest, high quality and dependable...we'll definately order from them again.
  19. Wow...that's crazy! I had never heard of anything like this. I found this on swiftcraftmonkey.com: "Apparently a company from China sold a kit over the Christmas holidays that allowed you to make your very own bath bombs at home! But they failed to allow for ventilation of the citric acid/baking soda mixture, and the tops flew off, injuring quite a few people. How the heck does this happen? When citric acid and baking soda come together, they release carbon dioxide (CO2) - the fizz in the bath bombs. If the CO2 has nowhere to go, it will put pressure on the container and it could force the top off the container violently. So what does this teach us? Do not put your bath bombs in a sealed container - plastic, glass or otherwise! Put them into a nice cellophane bag or a sushi container (in the case of cupcakes) or other bag-like storage!" So we use our heat shrink system to wrap each of ours individually and then place in acetate clear containers. How does everyone else store theirs?
  20. Hey guys...sorry I'm just posting this...got carried away with other projects and just came across this. First, thanks for the links Sharon. I'll check them out. Appreciate you sending them. I've actually ordered from Factory Direct, but completely forgot about them. And Sharon Kay, I realize you have probably already tried the wax you got in, but wanted to acknowledge your post. We just use a pillar wax ... soy is all we have on hand, so we use that. I add a little more scent than if I were making candles.
  21. We have made and use Kitns' and absolutely love them. You should give them a try.
  22. You know Judy...when I read this the first time, I didn't "see it". I mean I read it, but was so involved with the whole wax issue, wondering if the wax I have would work, would the CD work, yada yada yada, that I didn't even take notice of that statement until you mentioned it. Yeah...I couldn't pass it off as soy. I make soy now, and it's not the same. My conscience would bother me too much if I told someone it was a soy candle when I know it's almost half paraffin. Didn't have time to tinker around with it and even when I do and if it works, I'd have to advertise it as a paraffin soy blend. Thanks Judy
  23. Awesome Steve!! I'm so glad for ya. I have a sample coming from Aztec, but still wanna go back to CS. We've always been pleased with them and they have always had great products, Customer Service and can't beat the shipping. Even if we test the wax from Aztec, and it proves to be the right stuff, we'll still go back to CS anyway. That's who we're comfortable with. But oh boy....happy pouring over the weekend
  24. Thanks Pixie...Well...I'll tinker around with it and see what I come up with.
