  1. Hi SharonKay and Ravens! Fixing to get started myself with my new TCS wax! Can't wait! Good luck to all of you and we'll share notes later! Have a Blessed Day! Mary
  2. I'll keep you in my prayers Shirlee when you have your surgery. Hope it's nothing serious. Just not a good time for both of us! But can't plan these things. I'm loving this new wax and since I found out about the zip lock bags issue I'm sure that will make a big difference! Love the things we learn on this site.
  3. Hey Sharon, haven't been on for the last couple of days been to doctors appointments. Need to have knee surgery so I'm fixing to try and get back to it fast and hard. Will let you know!! Great to hear from you!
  4. Hey you guys, sorry I haven't been on but did you get my question about the paper you use? I think it's right about your clamshell pictures WHICH ARE GREAT!!! I've had doctors visits this week and have to have knee surgery so I'm fixing to really get behind making my tarts and will let you know.
  5. Would you believe I have never been there! Every year we have a Janis Joplin Tribute concert with bands that were famous down here like the Boogie Kings. They did concerts together when she started. I need to go by there. If I do I'll let you know and try and send you guys some pictures if they let me take them.
  6. Hi Raven, I found a website "Paper Mart" that sells the linded kraft bags. They are $15.54 for 100 does that sound reasonable? I checked other clear bags at the dollar tree and 99c store but none of them tell you what they're made from. Thanks!
  7. Thanks so much Raven, that answers the question why my tarts started out strong but were weak. I had never heard that, that's why this is the best forum on the internet! Thanks again!
  8. Ravens, I purchased the White Tea Y Ginger from the candle supplier close to my house. Can't wait to try it. Is there a reason you can't cure tarts in ziploc bags? Is there something else since I do not now the bags you use? Thanks and if your ever down this way since you live in Texas too let me know and we'll visit the Janise Joplin museum I heard it was nice. Thanks!
  9. Ravens, I'm like you, can't keep my hands off! But will order both of the fo's you recommended. Shirlee said in her response your not suppose to put them in zip lock bags. I DID NOT KNOW THAT!! That's how I cure all my tarts. Could that be that's what's causing some of my problem? Ya'll must try Ginger (Origins) with Bergamont from Natures Garden. IT'S THE BOMB!! I'll let ya'll know my results now that I think I have a better wax to work with. Can't thank ya'll enough for all your help. People like Shirlee and I are new to this and ya'll save us so much money and time. Can't wait till I can be of help. Now let me go and unbag my tarts since their in zip lock bags. So glad to know not to do that!! Have a great Columbas Day weekend!
  10. I'm still new to this and just purchased a parasoy wax do you mean 44-32-18z? Sorry if that's a stupid question.
  11. Ravens, I JUST received my order boy that was quick! I was getting confused like Shirlee with all the selections so I went with the first one the Container Blend that is what you use isn't it? I'm so glad you get the melting and pouring instructions because it came with no paperwork and I can't find anything on the website about what temp to pour and went to add fo. Shirlee, I'll let you know how my melts go I'm going to start on them this week end! Also Raven, how long do you let yours cure before trying your candles and tarts? Thanks for all your help!! I was about to give up on making tarts and their are popular here in Pt. Arthur Texas! Thanks again:yay:
  12. Hi Shirlee I ordered mine and I'm just like you I did not like not knowing how much the shipping was. My order for the wax was around 15.50. Then today I received a bill for the shipping and it was 12.50. I live in texas so have not idea if that's reasonable or not. Let's keep in touch and share results. Were you using IG wax also? I've been getting mine from a candlestore only 10 miles away so I'm spoiled with not paying shipping. The IG 4630 is working ok for my container candles. I have read that the 100% soy has problems with some of the fo's but I've never tried it. Let's hope we have better luck with this one! God Bless and let you know when my order arrives and how it goes!
  13. Ravens, thanks for the information on the wax from Candlesource. I just ordered from them because I TIRED of working with IG 4794! I have tried everything ya'll have suggested and they only smell for one day! Some only smell for about 4 to 5 hours. It's been frustrating and I was about to give up and decided to give it one more try with a different wax. Thanks for your help! Mary
  14. I also use this same wax and was wondering how long your tarts & clamshells scent last? Some of mine will smell for maybe 2 days and my new ones I recently poured with the new scents from the 99c sale at AH/RE only smell for about 2 hours after completely melted. I'm having trouble with different scents. I melt to the required 175 degrees then add my fo and stir about 2 minutes and pour immediately. Does that sound right to you? Thanks for any help!
  15. :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2I use the same wax and understand how frustrating it can be. But everyone on this board have helped with different suggestions and I've narrowed it down to 44-32-18z for my 8 oz jars and 60-44-18z for my 10oz apothacary jars. Zinc wicks have been highly recommended by everyone so that's what I settled with. Still testing and will let you know if I find something better. Maybe we can send each email with test results and compare notes. Hope everything works out but don't give up. You definitely have experts on this forum very willing to help. Good luck! and hope I could be of some help.
  16. Your right and that's just what I did! Some of my first batch which have been curing for almost a month smell great! This weekend my sister said the one I just gave her smelled her whole living room and kitchen! Thanks everyone for the help and encouragement! Have a great Labor Day!
  17. If you don't mind I'd love to know also whick wax you use also. Thanks!
  18. I use the same wax you do but was told Zinc wicks were the best and have been using those but not satisfied with my scent throw either on some fo's. The ladies are this forum are the best and will help us. I'm new also and hope to be able to help you someday. I'm determined not to give up! Ladies, do ya'll think the HTP wicks are better? That could be my problem also so I'll order a sample pack of HTP wicks. Thanks!!
  19. If you don't mind my asking you mix 464 & 6006. Have you ever used 4630? I'm having the same problems with Cucumber Melon and Sweet Pea. I order from a supplier not far from my house called "Melting Pot" in Vidor Tx. I only have a couple of my containers that have great throws, Creme Brulee, and Bird of Paradise. I fight with everything else and can't seem to hit on the right fo's that work with this wax. I've heard by everyone it's a great wax and was trying to save on shipping by using someone close since I'm on disability. But sick of wasting money. Thought about adding a little bit of Vybar to maybe help with the hot throw. Your opinion is greatly appreciated and everyone who helps us newcomers are wonderful! God Bless!!
  20. If you don't mind me asking which pillar blend wax do you use? I was told the IGI 4794 is a pillar blend. Do you know if that's correct? Thanks!!!
  21. Welcome! You will find this is by far the best candle forum and the people are so great and helpful for those of us that are new to candle making! You will make great friends and get the best advice out there! Good Luck and God Bless!!! Mary
  22. Thanks Cindy, I think I will try another wax and I've heard good things about this wax. Thanks!
  23. :yay:My order came in Friday and just had time to look at it because went out of town to take care of my mother. I LOVE the Essence of Jesus and Essence of Bethlehem. Also my Pumpkin Creme Brulee was a light color not dark. Can't wait to get started!
  24. :yay:Linda, your display looks GREAT!!! You are very creative!
  25. :yay:Thanks to all of you guys! I'll try what you guys said. I use the IGI4794 from a supplier close to my house. I did not realize all the waxes were different from each supplier. I'll order from someone else and try that. It's just so nice to not have to pay shipping! But not worth it if it's not top quality! Thanks again!
