  1. WELCOME BACK!! So glad to hear there was no cancer. Mary
  2. Ann Marie, I had thought about painting on my tarts also but did not want to invest in candle paint. I did not realize you could use acrylic paint on candles! I thought it would affect the wax and fo. Thanks so much for telling me because I have painted for years and decided to start making candles. So I have TONS of acrylic paint. Thanks for the info!
  3. :mad:This is a bummer! Can't compete with their prices and the customer responses gives them all 5 stars! Also the warmers are precious. Wish we could find warmers like this without having to buy 12 or the same kind or $100. minimum. Some of us can't afford that. But you still can't beat HOME MADE! I personally prefer to buy from local individuals than Walmart!!
  4. Welcome Jenn! My name is Mary and you are going to LOVE this site! These are the best experts in the business and are so willing to help those of us who are new to candle making. We have a blast and are like one big family!
  5. What are the portions you mix with the coconut & lime, if you don't mind my asking? Thanks!
  6. Makenna Raven is right! I just started with this wax and so far I love it! Was about to give up on making candles and it was the wax and some of the things I was doing. Loren was wonderful and help me a lot. Also everyone on this forum are so helpful too! Give Loren a chance to make it right because he would want to know if you have a problem. Good luck!:smiley2:
  7. You will be in our prayers and know that your candle making friends are thinking of you!!I'll be waiting to hear from your husband and I know everything will go great. When the anesthesiologist tells you to count backwards while your going under count all your friends on the forum and it will be over before you know it! Love ya girl and be safe!
  8. :cheesy2:Thank, I'm going to try that with the ones I'm getting ready for a show. I also keep mine stored in a glass container until I need to bag some up. Have a great day!!
  9. :cheesy2:Love these! Mixing the colors is a great idea for Christmas. I think my scent may have been the problem. I used Apple and Cinnamon and it was not where as strong as yours. I'll do a stronger scent.
  10. :cheesy2:These are Beautiful! I love the wine glass. If you don't mind me asking what size wick did you have to use? I use zinc wicks . I LOVE the way they swirl!! Thanks, Mary
  11. Shirlee please keep us posted when your up to it how your surgery went. Wish we could be there to help out with housework and errands. I'll keep you in my prayers!
  12. Thanks so much Raven! I'm going to do that with my tins today. I called Loren like you suggested at Candle Source and he was GREAT! I was doing a couple of things wrong like putting my tarts in the freezer so I could get them to pop out quicker. He said that's a NO NO. After your tarts are just skimmed over the top to the point where you can move them and not have them spill put them in the refrigerator! That seals the fo into the was slower and better. It worked! I poured some Sweet Potato Pie and the ct was great! Before when I let them sit out before bagging them you could barely smell them for at least 3 or 4 days. I'm EXCITED! Thanks so much for your help and will follow your directions and bar the door Nelly we're going to be making Great candles and Tarts! This wax is the BOMB! Let me know how yours turn out and hope your over the sinus problem soon!
  13. I love these because they're easy to make and you can make beautiful colors. But mine do not smell strong at all!! My recipe calls for 4-6 tsps. FO TO 6 OZ. distilled Water. I use 8 oz jars. Is that how yours are done? Thanks:confused:
  14. After they're packaged in the polypro bags can you store them in large tupperware airtight container? Thanks!
  15. We make our own Gingered Bergamot by mixing Bergamot and Ginger Lime from Candles & Supplies. I just purchased the already mixed Gingered Bergamot from Natures Garden and can't wait to try it. WE LOVE THE ONE WE MAKE and hope it goes over good at a show we're doing. No one here in Pt. Arthur Tx has it as far as we know. We found it from a cream my daughter bought at Dillards Dept. Store and she rubs my legs for me when I'm in a lot of pain and can't sleep. (Had back surgery and have nerve damage) When she finishes I sleep like a baby! We looked at the ingredients on the jar and ordered the samples and mixed them. It smells JUST LIKE the creme in the jar! We're addicted and hope the already mixed from NG works too. Let me know how it goes! It's a fabulous scent!
  16. Thanks ladies I can't wait to make these! I've not seen them here in South Texas so hopefully they will sell great. Will let you know! Thanks again!
  17. This is a GREAT idea! I've never made aroma beads but after reading the directions when do you add the fo? Sorry if it's a stupid questions but I did not see that in the instructions. Thanks!
  18. Shewill5, do you add your oil at 180 then pour at 170? I'm determined to get this right now that I've changed to a good wax.
  19. That's great girl! Congratulations on your success. I'm going to try the container candles today and I use the zinc wicks. Would you suggest I start with the same wick i use in my 8 oz jelly jars that I use with my other wax? And by the way we can't kick you in the butt, WE NEED YOU CONSCIOUS YOUR OUR LIFELINE TO CANDLE MAKING!
  20. You guys are too funny! We would probably have such a crowd people would wonder what a bunch of women were doing having so much fun during the late hours! I live in an apartment and my candle stuff is scattered all over the kitchen table when I'm working and I have a small scale to weigh my oils and stuff. My grandson said "Gram if someone came in and saw this stuff they'd think your were bagging and weighing drugs" ha!ha! Sure enough the maintenance guy came by and looked at me weird when he saw the scale and white stuff for my smelly jelly! I quickly told him what I was doing and my grandson and I got a good laugh! Guess you had to be there:laugh2:Anyway, Raven I bought my oil from the supplier I mentioned and it was White Tea and Ginger. Everyone was raving about it but her's did not smell very strong. Is it a very light scent? That's the one I added my fo at 170 and pour at 150 I could barely smell anything? Now after 3 days it's still very light. Could you please give me your directions again for how high to get my wax and when to pour? Thanks I really appreciate it.
  21. :cheesy2:They look great and love the color. I make those also and the candle supply place near my home where I buy most of my things showed me to put a small amount in the candle warmer with a little bit of water added as the water starts to evaporate. Smells awesome! It's much stronger than just sitting out on a desk or even in a closet or car. You do have to add a small amount of oil so you can sell extra oil for more profits. I love your deep colors!
  22. Raven need your help!! My first batch did not do well. I heated to 170, removed and added my fo, then poured at 150. That's what was on the other thread. Should I have followed the directions from the website? Heat to 180, remove and add fo, then pour at 175? It's a shame we don't all live close to each other, we could start an all night candle club! What am I doing wrong????
  23. Hi Shirlee, how's the testing coming? I finished my first batch and the cold throw in not good. I'm going to try them in my warmer today and hope that's better. The website says to heat to 180, remove and add fo then pour at 175. I heated mine to 170, added the fo, them poured at 150 like Ravens but I'm doing something wrong. How are your's coming out? I wish I had Raven locally so we could have a candle class!! That would be great because I'm better at learning from someone by watching than following instructions. I must be leaving out a step. Hope your doing better. I'm going to try a strong scent, maybe the scent was light and will take longer to cure.
  24. Hi Raven! I have a question. I followed the temps you gave on the tarts but my first batch of tarts do not have a good cold throw (I'm waiting one more day to try them in the warmer). Do you heat your wax to 180 like their web site says? Because I heated to 170, added the fo and stirred real good for about 45 sec. then poured at 150. Their website says heat to 180 remove and add fo then pour at 175-180. Just wondered what I did wrong because I'd rather follow your instructions because you've been doing this lots longer than me. Thanks for any help you can give me!
  25. Sharon, do you get a lot of request for the wickless container candles? This forum is the first place I have heard of this! Here in Texas we're the last to try something ha!ha! and before I started making candles I would just put the regular candle on my warmer and the wick would eventually cover up with the wax. I never thought of making them without the wick and selling them that way! I have learned SO MUCH from all you ladies! It's greatly appreciated. I'm anxious to make those. When I first started learning to make candles getting the proper wick has been the most frustrating and I'm so glad wickless candles and tarts are becoming more popular down here.
