  1. I also just ordered zucchini bread from KY, which if I remember right I have used before and it was really good. I definitely gravitate toward the bakery scents too. I only make tarts for myself (expensive hobby) and for family/friends. I dont sell them as a business but I still have my "line" of my favorite 21 scents that I keep stock of and every scent is something that can be eaten. Delish!!! Dessa,
  2. Funny... I ordered zucchini bread from ICS when I ordered the Amish Harvest as well. I was hoping for a bakery type of scent. Hopefully it will have more of a baked note once it is in wax.
  3. Blakesmom.... how did your testing turn out (I know it has only been 2 days)... I am hoping that you find the Amish Harvest to be close to Yankee Spiced Pumpkin rather than it smelling like Celtic Moonspice. Keeping my fingers crossed... Dessa
  4. I ordered the Amish Harvest from ICS today but I dont have high expectations. After placing the order I did a search and the only posts about the ICS Amish Harvest was that it was a twin for Celtic Moonspice (dont remember the supplier) but if I recall, Celtic Moonspice didnt smell much like Spiced Pumpkin. But who knows... Dessa
  5. Hi Blakesmom, I would love to know your results if the Amish Harvest is a close dup for Yankee's Spiced Pumpkin. I was looking for a dup of that scent as well and never found it! Thanks....
  6. LOL... That makes two of us!
  7. A little off topic, but when I hear the word Vervaine, I think of Vampire Diaries...
  8. Thanks everyone for the input! I ordered some 415 so I hope that creates an even better tart that the 4794 straight. I also made a few batches with some 4630 added to the 4794 this past weekend but havent tested those yet. They are curing right now. nmhoneybear, yes please... let us know how it goes for you as well. Thanks!
  9. Hi all, I currently use 4794 for making tarts but want to try adding soy based on many posts where others blend. In your opinion, would you recommend adding GB 415 or 464? I have read good reviews on both waxes. I was thinking about starting with a 75% 4794 25% soy (415 or 464) ratio but was looking for some input on which one may work best. Also, I use silicone molds for tarts. Thanks!!!
  10. Hi all, I have some tarts that I made that just dont seem to be strong enough and I want to add a tad more FO. Can I melt down my tarts and add more FO (without exceeding the max that the wax will hold) or will the process of heating the wax back to 180+ degrees in effect burn off the FO that is already in the tarts? I was just curious if anyone has done this and if so, has it been successful? Thanks,
  11. I dont sell, but this works well for keeping my newest obsession (FO's) under control. When I get a new FO, I add it to a spreadsheet and number it. The spreadsheet includes the number, the fragrance name and the supplier. The number gets written with a sparpie on the top of the bottle cap. I have stackable drawers and keep them organized in the drawers #1-75 in drawer 1, #76 - 150 in drawer 2 and so on. Then I sort the spreadsheet alphabetically by the fragrance name and print it out and keep it by the drawer. When I want a particular scent, I can search the spreadsheet by fragrance name, then look to see what number it is and find it in the correct drawer. So far it has been working pretty well for me.
  12. Hi Kris, Also, Grandma's Kitchen from Cierra's and The Candle Source smell just likes Leaves from BBW (to my nose) as does Hillbilly Homebrew from Natures Garden. The Cornucopia FO from Peaks is close but there is something just a little different in that one (although still a great scent). Hope that helps!
  13. I do the same thing. I keep telling myself no more scents, then I get on this board and add to my collection.. ha ha... In fact, I think I need to add a couple more "staple" scents to my list of favorites. I am going to try a couple of different apple pie FO's that I have, and I also have the cinnamon caramel latte (JS) on order that I will put to wax when it arrives. That seems to be a hit with folks on this board. I also sent my favorite pumpkin candle to a supplier to see if they could duplicate the scent. I am keeping my fingers crossed on that one. See the list could go on and on....
  14. Has anyone found a caramel apple that could be a dup for B&BW's?
  15. That is good to know, thanks. Well, as you know this is a hobby for me (I believe for you too) and it has become quite the expensive hobby. I cant seem to stop trying FO's. So I finally decided to narrow it down to my top 10-15 FO's and just make those in either tarts or candles and I ordered the 1 lb bottle so I could have plenty. I may just use the other 190+ FO's that I have straight in the warmer or maybe even try to list them in the classifieds. Anywho... I narrowed it down to my top scents and I am also trying to choose only a few suppliers to cut shipping costs. These are my top (in no specific order): Cranberry Orange Spice - JS Grandma's Kitchen - CMS (smells like Leaves from BBW) Orange Danish - CMS (this is awesome) Honey Gingerbread - BW Frosted Pumpkin - JS Spruce Christmas Tree - Peaks Mulled Cider - Alabaster Dickens Christmas - Alabaster Country Spice - CMS Cinnamon Buns - Alabaster Gingerbread & Spice - MMS I still want to find a really good Caramel Apple that smells like Bath & Body Works but so far no luck. I am most excited about the Gingerbread & Spice from MMS. I had been testing about every gingerbread out there to find the one like Gold Canyon's and this is finally it. Now if only I could find a Pumpkin Pie like Pure Integrity's I would be all set!!!!
  16. Can tarts be stored in large glass containers (w/lids) or will this leech the smell? I bought several large glass containers and have each scent in its own glass jar but was wondering if they will lose their smell this way? thanks,
  17. I just had my little Gold Canyon sample pots out last night comparing scents (I used to sell GC). In my opinion, Alabaster's Dickens Christmas is very similar to Gold Canyon's Cozy Christmas. Also, I just poured MMS Gingerbread & Spice and it is a match to Gold Canyon's Gingerbread House. I am so glad I found that one as I have been searching for quite awhile now. I did a search on this board last week for Gold Canyon twins and found some posts from 2006 that indicated MMS carried a few of the Gold Canyon scents. So I went on a hunch and ordered the gingerbread & spice from MMS (hoping it would also be one that GC carries) and it sure smells the same to me. Yippee!!!!
  18. I actually did a google search and came up with the Taylored Concepts program as well. I sent them an email earlier to ask a few questions, so we will see. I do have an unlit candle as well as clamshell tarts of this scent, so that shouldnt be an issue. BTW, I am trying to find the pumpkin pie scent that Pure Integrity carries. It is delish... not too much spice, but a yummy pumpkin with maple, butter and crust. I cant seem to find anything like it.
  19. Are there any suppliers that will duplicate an FO from a jar candle or a chunk of scented wax? A couple of suppliers I have checked with would only do it from the actual FO as opposed to the scented wax. I have a candle that I bought and just love love love the scent but I just can not seem to find the exact FO (or even close) out there anywhere and would love to have it duplicated. Any suggestions? Thanks,
  20. Hi Laura, That is good to know. I just ordered the 4630 and the 8 oz square mason jars. I also ordered the zinc sample wick pack. Can I ask what wicks you use? Thanks,
  21. Scent Cellar, Since you have used 4630 before, in your experience does it do well on its own?
  22. I have tried so many pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice, pumpkin blend of this & that fo's (as many of you have as well) and have not been able to come close to finding the scent of the pumpkin pie candle that Pure Integrity sells. It smells delicious. It is not too sweet or spicy and you can smell the maple & pie crust in the scent. It is rich, creamy & buttery. I have tried blending so many variations with pumpkin but just can not get the scent right. If I could just find an fo that smells like theirs I wouldnt ever need to try another pumpkin pie scent. Has anyone smelled the PI's version and come across an oil similar to it?
  23. Hi Scent Cellar, To answer your question of why I want to add the 464... Primarily because I have read quite a few posts where it seems that folks have used that blend and really liked the results. I am not speaking from experience whatsoever and would value the input, but I believe I read that it helped with the sinkholes and helped to smooth out the tops. But of course I have read so many different posts that I could very well have mixed up the information.
  24. I was hoping to get some input between these two waxes. Right now I only make tarts (for msyelf & friends) and plan to try making candles. Again, the candles would only be for myself. I dont ever plan to sell. I have read, read and read somemore about the trials & tribulations of testing, the various wicks, fo load, jar size, etc. and I understand all the variables and that the only true way to find what works best for me is to test. That being said.... for those of you that have used both waxes, is one better than the other in your opinion? I would be able to order the jars, wicks (zinc sample pack) 4630 wax, and 464 from one supplier, but not the J223 from the same supplier. But I was really leaning toward the J223 over the 4630. Setting the cost of shipping and the inconvenience of ordering from 2 separate suppliers aside, in your opinion is the J223 superior to 4630 or do you think I would be happy with 4630 (4630 85%, 464 15%)? Thanks,
  25. I agree with the hot orange danish. That is an awesome scent! Love it!
