  1. Hi Leisa, Can I ask where you get Boysenberry? I have done a search and havent been able to locate a supplier. Thanks!
  2. Correction... they do carry their scents in the 1oz bottles without ordering a sampler pack... but I would still love to get some suggestions of favorites! Thanks,
  3. I was curious about this supplier as well. I want to order their Mulled Cider but realize they do not sell 1 or 2 oz bottles unless you get the sampler pack (which I think is about 12 of the 1oz bottles). So can anyone recommend some other must have scents? Thanks,
  4. I am answering my own question, but in case anyone else was searching... Cranberry Orange Spice from ICS is pretty darn close. I just poured it in tarts and it smells very close to Gold Canyons. Yum!!!
  5. From what I have read, it seems that CO is generally used in soy. Can it be used in a paraffin/soy blend and if so, does it really help with hot throw? I only make tarts for myself so I am not that concerned about the appearance, just the hot throw and I want them to be as strong as possible. Thanks,
  6. Ok, so I made a couple of batches of tarts with this wax straight just to see what would happen. I used a silicone mold and slipped out fine (after putting in the freezer). One FO had zero scent throw after 3 days so I threw it out. The other one is pretty good but now the melted disc will not slip out of the warmer even after putting in the freezer for quite a while. I had to re-melt the wax and pour it in the trash. I am trying to see if I could mix this WSP wax with something I have in stock to avoid more shipping charges from another supplier at the moment (I will probably order some 4794 eventually). But for now I only have some EZ-Soy and KY Parasoy blend in stock. In your opinion, do you think mixing the WSP with either of those waxes would help to firm it up? I was thinking more the KY since it has some paraffin in it whereas the ez-soy is soft too? Or what about if I went to Michaels and picked up some Stearic (is that what it is called)? What would you do if you only had those options? Or should I just stick with my ezsoy & KY and ditch the WSP container wax until I get some 4794? Thanks for your suggestions!!!
  7. Any recommendations? Thank you!
  8. I have tried several of the FO's from candlesource and so far they have all been great in the Candlesource wax. I have also used FO's from candlescience, Aroma Haven, Berts Heaven Scents and I am sure a few more and so far they have been really good.
  9. I really do like the candlesource wax, in fact I ordered another 10lb slab a little while ago. I have been trying different waxes but so far that is my fave. I ordered the crafters choice SP from WSP about a week ago but so far I am not impressed. Wish I had read all the reviews here first instead of only the WSP website reviews. But, to be fair I have only made 3 batches with the WSP wax and I need to give them time to cure. But I can definitely say that I have had really good results with the candlesource wax. I broke mine into chunks and some small little pieces so now I can not wait until it gets here so I can make more tarts. I just received 14 new scents from candlescience (and ordered more from candlesource today) so I am chomping at the bit to put those in wax and see how they do. I just dont want to use them on the WSP wax until I can do a side by side comparison between the two waxes to see which is better. Whew, that was long winded...
  10. Hi Leena, I am not sure if you still have any left, but I would love to test one of your tarts. Should I send you my info via PM? Thank you!
  11. Thanks for the feedback both of you. I actually thought that adding the FO when the wax was above the flashpoint could potentially cause a fire but I didnt think in terms of it burning off the scent. Typically I have been adding my FO at about 185 or so. If I have an FO (banana nut bread) that has a flashpoint of 136, then should I let the temp of the melted wax cool back down to 136 before adding the FO? Actually this is the first FO that I have received with a fp lower than 200 so I am glad you mentioned that Ecco. Thanks!
  12. I understand that the temperature to add FO greatly affects the throw of a tart, but does the temperature that you pour at impact the throw, or only the appearance? I only make these for myself so I havent been too concerned about the pouring temperature but thought I should double check with the experts. Thanks,

  14. I love both of these scents and would like to be able to find something very similar. Any suggestions?
  15. Does anyone know of an FO that matches the Cranberry Orange carried by Gold Canyon Candles?
  16. thanks for the suggestions. I only make tarts for myself so I dont mind if they are soft as long as the throw is really good. I will play around with it and see what happens but I am always on the lookout for my next wax order so may give the 4794 or 6006 a try. I am still learning as I go about the differences in wax (container, pillar, votive etc.) but getting the idea pretty quick. All of the info on the site is so helpful so thanks everyone!
  17. Ok, so I ordered this wax based on the reviews of the WSP website (before posting here) and wow is it soft. So now my dilemma... I only make tarts and this is still kind of new for me and still learning about the different types (now I know what they mean by "container" wax.. ha ha...). Well I do not have any palm or straight paraffin. Has anyone used this wax straight for making tarts and if so, how did it turn out? Thanks!
  18. Anyone know of a real close dup for the Yank** Pumpkin Spice scent?
  19. Has anyone tried this wax for tarts, and if so, what do you think of it? Does it have good hot throw? Thanks...
  20. For those of you that use palm wax, can you please let me know (in your experience), which of the palm waxes (starburst, feather or glass glow, as well as pillar, votive or container) would be best for tarts only, primarily for the best hot throw? I use the metal mini cupcake tin as a mold. I have read and read, searched, and read some more but can not seem to come to a conclusion. Please, your recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!
  21. Moderators, I am not sure if I am allowed to post this, so please delete if it needed or move the post. I hope it is ok as I have found it to be very helpful. This site shows the different types of waxes available, which suppliers carry it, as well as which state they are in. You can also choose to list suppliers by state. http://www.fragranceoilsuppliers.com/cws.html
  22. Ravens, Thanks so much for your information and the all time you spent listing that for me. It is greatly appreciated (and encouraging). I am going to make a few more batches today so I will use the container wax and let you know how those turn out in a couple of days. Thanks again!
  23. Hi Ravens, Can I ask what percentage of FO you typically use per pound with this wax? I can not get the pumpkin/vanilla (also from candlesource) to throw and I used 1oz to 1lb. I have tried it in several different warmers/rooms and nothing. But on the flip side, the mulled cider & the zucchini bread are really strong so maybe it was just that FO and not necessarily the wax. I am really trying to determine if I like this wax or the KY parasoy blend better. Have you tried the KY and what do you think in comparison? I really like the ease of the KY better, but I dont mind working a little harder for a better throw. Thanks!
  24. Hi Ravens, Do you add anything to yours, or just use the container wax straight? Also, do you happen to know what the blend is (straight paraffin, paraffin/soy blend, etc.)?
  25. I am still very new at making tarts and have spent countless hours reading all the posts about the various waxes & blends that everyone uses and I am trying to come up with something that will have a great hot throw. The cold throw is not as important to me at this point. Right now in my stock I have the Candlesource Container Wax, the KY Parasoy Tart/Votive blend and some EZ-SOY. Would a 50/50 blend of the candlesource & the KY make sense? I am trying to understand the hows & whys of using the different types of waxes (soy vs paraffin vs container vs pillar and so on), so please let me know if this combo is a bad idea. You guys are all great and so very helpful, so any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!!!
