  1. LOL In that case, if your wickless product is in a glass container, just think of how many extra ounces that would be
  2. For those who carry these items in their booths or at shows, who do you choose as your supplier? We do have a wholesale account with Candle Warmers, but haven't yet placed our first order with them. We'd like to test a few models (from whatever supplier) to determine how our melts/tarts will work with them, but don't really want to purchase an entire case of product at a time during this process. Suggestions are much appreciated!
  3. For me, the choice was 464, 444 and 415 because I was lucky enough to have a supplier within a 45-minute drive----which made for huge savings compared to the cost of having it shipped. They are now carrying EcoSoya products, too, so we'll be testing with those and comparing against what we've learned to do well with the other wax.
  4. The cotton wicks from Peak are my favorite to use with soy. The chart they offer is dead-on and takes most of the guess work out of wick size selection. We haven't had any problems with smoking or mushrooming.
  5. The problem could be in the glue sticks, especially if you've purchased new ones. Double-check to be sure they are the hi-temp variety. We had the same problem recently, and it was because hubby had picked up a bag that didn't specify hi-temp.
  6. What is your hot throw like? Honestly, I doubt many people are going to complain about the quality of the visual appearance of the melt pool so long as the hot throw is good. Just my opinion
  7. This is a wonderful tip!!!! Thank you!
  8. LOL I love this line from the article: The process of making soy candles is easy. That's like saying "Jumping out of an airplane is easy." There is necessary testing and preparation required to achieve the desired end result in both endeavors!
  9. One word of advice about the tins---they get very hot. We did a short run of these and weren't happy with the extreme temperature of the container vs a jelly jar, so we've discontinued them.
  10. One way to NOT put out a fire (particularly if it's a pizza igniting in an electric oven) is to through the canister of flour in the oven, followed by a good dose of water from the garden hose dragged through the back door into the kitchen. Just ask my husband and teenage son, both of whom I stupidly left alone to their own devices one evening for a ladies' church event. "But what will we have for dinner?" was their lament, to which I replied, "Put a pizza from the freezer in the oven." Obviously, I failed them miserably, for I failed to remind them TO REMOVE THE CARDBOARD before they placed said pizza in the oven. The local fire department thought the entire arrangement was quite humorous. When I arrived home, I found it not so funny. After all the smoke was cleared and the firemen gone away, teenage son sheepishly says, "Hey---what are we gonna have for dinner anyway?" The paramedics were called in shortly after that question.
  11. You poor woman! I feel your pain---literally. I've had endo for 20+ years and know what a lousy companion it is. I'm certain the soy your doctor is advising you to avoid is product you would consume via digestive methods, not candlemaking. I wish you well in your recuperation and you will be in my prayers.
  12. Peaks has a great Lemon Pound cake, and CandleScience has Lemon Chiffon; both scents throw well in soy. Neither one smell like Pledge Furniture Polish, which is sometimes a danger with some lemon fragrance.
  13. Thanks for the tip! I like the 464 because my local supplier carries it at a great price, but most colors give me major frosting issues. CT and HT are great, though. They also started carrying EcoSoya, but it's more expensive. I'm going to try a blend after I make my next supply run.
  14. Gingerbread, sugar cookies, or eggnog always make me think of Christmas because that was the only time of year we had those things at home. Pine never makes me think of Christmas, but I'm weird that way
  15. It won't hurt a thing to do it that way.
  16. Chiming in late, but I also like the glass better.
  17. LOL She takes the cake! Or should I say styro formed shape with icing on it, as I'm sure that's the route she'd go for "baking."
  18. I have one. Love it! Check CandleScience. I think I got mine for $19.95
  19. Don't know where in MO you are, but Gateway Foods in Dupo, IL recently started carrying the NGI Ecosoya line in addition to Golden Wax. It might be as cheap--or cheaper--to make the trip east. I was ordering from Peaks, but their shipping was almost the same price as the case of wax to get it to southeast MO.
  20. I'm 70 miles southeast of St. Louis, MO, and make the drive to Dupo, IL about every two months. We usually tie it in with a shopping trip and dinner in South County, so it's all good fun. Gateway Foods is a joy to work with.
  21. I'm also very interested to find out the prevailing opinion. I know there was a lot of testing done when it was first released, and seemed to be superior to the Advanced variant, so I've been going through old posts---but don't seem to find a definitive response on it. My local supplier has now started carrying Ecosoya in addition to Golden Brands, and I'm going to grab a case the next time I'm close to them (it's a 90-minute drive, but worth it to save the shipping costs). We've been using Golden 464, but get frustrated with the sometime bout of frosting, rough-tops or tunnelling, despite being consistent with melting/pouring/cooling temps and times.
