  1. It's polymorphic and it part of 464's "charm." None of my customers have ever said anything about it being undesirable to them, and they continue to purchase. Scent and throw are what they are most interested in, and they sell equally well colored or not.
  2. I sold one as I was going into the market to stock my booth. The girl who runs the register had to have one right then. Made my day!
  3. My first attempt at soy dipped critters for my booth at the craft mall. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions!
  4. I need a Beginner's Church project and that would be great! What plants did you use? Something hearty like chicks & hens?
  5. We are Queen Bee Candle Company. About 15 years ago, our mom had tinkered with soapmaking and candlemaking for local craft fairs, and made a little money, but mostly enjoyed the crafting end of it. Sales slowed and she liquidated her inventory, but we always remembered how much fun it had been to see the kitchen so busy with great-smelling stuff. When she went home to be with the Lord in 2008, we started out making candles from a Peak's soy container kit for a project to therapeutically keep our minds occupied with something creative and productive. We ordered another to make Christmas gifts for family, and we were hooked. We later had requests from gift recipients for more, and landed on the idea that this neat hobby could also generate some extra pocket money. So, we did our homeworks, got all the proper licensings, insurance, etc. Our workshop is in the home our mother left us, and we feel such a comforting presence like her spirit watching over us, that we wanted to incorporate her into the business. Our nickname for her was The Queen, always said with great love and affection, so Queen Bee Candle company was the only name that seemed to be a unique fit for us. My husband is a graphic artist and free-handed our logo, which is the Queen Bee herself. The three little gemstones on her crown represent my sister, my mom, and myself
  6. Those are really nice! I'm sure the people who received those for gifts loved them.
  7. Cranberry Citrus from Peak's is my all time fave, followed by Cinnamon Buns and Creme Brûlée. Throws great in soy, too.
  8. Just a quick follow up. We priced the "no smell" candles at half price at a recent show, and they FLEW off the table. Thanks for the great advice. We found about two dozen clamshells from that same time period, so we recycled the wax for fire starters for camping season
  9. Thanks, MzPickles. Actually, the same order from CandleScience vs Peaks was cheaper on shipping, so I sort of got a sale through the savings on shipping
  10. Anybody know of sales or discount codes for Peak or CandleScience?
  11. I'm having a debate with my partner in crime. We found a case of soy candles that got hidden away from 2 years ago. There is no CT, and when we hit them with heat gun, no HT. I say we call them "unscented" and clearance them, or put them back for emergency candles the next time the power is out. LOL My partner thinks we can melt, add new FO, and repour. That's new territory for me. Can that be done successfully?
  12. LOL I needed a good laugh before bedtime, and your misguided friend's reply certainly provided it. Sadly, people really DO think it's that easy, but they don't last long and certainly can't make a decent product.
  13. We have lots of local FaceBook buy/sell/trade pages, and people sell everything there from antiques to real estate. I stumbled across this listing: Scentsy wax chips "2 dozen count bulk" fresh rain sea breeze. Sea shells $10. Home-made, strong scent, just put in your favorite wax warmer and enjoy♥ Park hills area. Cash only. "custom candles" home-made crafts♥ I asked: So are they Scentsy or are they home-made? She replies: They are all home-made by me:) Scentsy is just a catagory, all of my items are home made with care<3 I'm giggling too hard to type. I'd like to explain about patents, trademarks, registrations, etc....but I think it might be lost on her, as she thinks "Scentsy is just a catagory."
  14. You can get set up with Square (a credit card processing service) and can get the reader at Office Max, Walgreens, WalMart, etc. I think it costs under $10, then you sign up for free. You get charged 2.75% per swipe, or a max of $275 month. If you had time, you could go to their website, sign up, and they'd mail the reader for free. https://squareup.com/register
  15. I was trolling a local antique mall and stumbled across "soy blend" candle products from "Our Own Candle Company." They were going for the homespun/prim look, but the labels on the front had bar-codes on them, which immediately spoiled that attempt. Anybody familiar with the company?
  16. Those are lovely! Good on you for the quick sale.
  17. What's your process? Peel the stickum off the wax sheet, stick to wick tab, then pull the wax paper off the bottom of the stickum....then what? Do you use just fingers or something like a wick setter to put the wick in place?
  18. I need help in locating craft ideas that easy to complete for pre-schoolers and kindergarteners. Ideally, the project needs to take less than 30 minutes because those little guys have short attention spans. Think vacation bible school/Sunday School and you've got the right idea! Links appreciated!
  19. Test until you've got a product that is completely successful, then work on the labeling, then promote. Don't be bummed if it takes a while to achieve perfection. Anything worth doing is worth doing better than everyone else
  20. Why not host a co-op? I need more clams, and I'm sure others do as well.
