  1. I could not get myself to cut mine in 1/2:shocked2:
  2. You did explain this to me. Try as I might I can't seem to "wreck" it doesn't look like yours I make a mess of the bottom:confused:
  3. We will see ... haven't burned them yet . but thanks
  4. I only have two prestos . They only hold 8lbs though. I was thinking of getting a turkey fryer but I am cocerned cause I can't have both prestos on at the same time without blowing a breaker. I have a room in the house that I use . It has my computer, printer, TV and the presto . Even when my one presto comes on the lights dim. My husband says there is nothing he can do about it . The fryer might just put me over the edge
  5. How did you make out? you were helping me so much that week I wish I could have helped you
  6. You're being too kind:yay: I can't beleive it but I just thought of that and did it . What a great idea! Thanks
  7. Thanks, I love the color too. They smell great too. Seaside from MC .Yes I heated the molds . I tried to cool slowly with a box over them ( Thanks Stella for that advice) . I poked a bunch of times as well. HMMM Who knows. Could the cystallization issue be maybe I took them out of the molds to soon? thanks for your help
  8. Tops has been helping me with leaks . Thank you Tops .So i was able to make 3 without leaks . I have not tested these yet as i just unmolded them tonight. I was wondering if anyone could tell me why I have areas that have no crystals ( I poured at 200 )and also I have a tiny hole on the bottom of the tallest. Not sure how far up this hole goes or why I have it .It wasn't there when I took it out of the mold . It appeared when I leveled it off. I did poke holes while cooling but I know I didn't go down to the bottom... I know that for sure.
  9. [My neighbor (electronic genius) has looked at the element for my old one and doesn't know what's wrong with it. Sometimes I can get it to turn on if I bash it with a stick or something, but.... I don't use a turkey fryer but couldn't you just replace the element?
  10. Thank you candles4ever I will check them out as well as the places karen mentioned thanks again Laura
  11. So SOrry I forgot to say:sad2: I use GB415 and no bath and body yet( though it sounds like something some day I may try)Thanks for your suggestions :smiley2: Only asking for suggestions Carole I wouldn't hold you to anything. The reason for the change is shipping costs thats all. But thanks anyway
  12. I have only used one in 4 years would like to try others. Candles and Supplies is the closest to me and I have never tried them . To go through all that testing again kills me but i know it's a must. Would love to hear suggestions at least not to waste my time with duds
  13. well here's the thing the libbey 22 oz is really a 16 oz candle and the 31 oz is really a 24 oz . Mine are 15 and 22 $
  14. I have tried single wicking these with no luck. I use soy GB415. I still use them but I double wick them using CDN. CDN 20 didn't work for me . Good luck would like to hear your results
  15. all I am saying is that I find when I use taller containers I have less burning going on towards the bottom. I assume that is because there is less air. Reading your posts you seem to have the opposite going on. Yes I know we were talking about the 16 oz mason. Me too . Just got carried away. Sorry about that:sad2:It's not as bad as it sounds . I just seem to be going back and forth and the conclusion is I have to wick for the second half of my candles. Sorry for rambling
  16. Here's the thing... And so help me I have searched and can't find it now, but a while ago I read the same thing from you I believe. (Don't hold me to it). That at the end it picks up steam. I even read where you wick down sometimes for the 16 oz mason ( taller)and up for the wide mouth jelly(shorter) . But what I am finding (does this make sense at all) is that my wicks are running out of steam at the bottom. Let me give you an example. I double wicked with two 12s Grandma's Country kitchen in a large 26 oz elevation jar. It was a blaze. So I did one with two 10s( oops CDN by the way) At the bottom maybe 1/2 way the tens puckered out and stunk like sulfur:angry2:. The 12s then look great. Now I did two 10 in a 16 oz elevation ( much shorter ) and that did GREAT. Everyone says it doesn't matter the jar size only the diameter. Is that true? Cause the 10oz did better in the two 10 as well. all are 4 inch diameter. I am making myself dizzy. Do you get what i am saying? I am finding were you wick down for the taller I need to wick up. Why is that ? I found it But I am not getting these results I am backwards:sad2:My family would have field day with that comment:p:laugh2: Re: Which size CDN to order.... - 07-14-2009, 10:40 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I use CDN 14s for 8 oz. widemouth masons (NatureWax C3; 1 oz. FO pp; USA 1 Tbsp. pp). Sometimes can go down to a 12 in the 16 oz, depending. DO order the sampler - it's invaluable to have a selection. HTH --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  17. I'm having a great deal of trouble testing the CDn wicks in this jar. I thought it would be easy since my other jars ( 4inch elevations ) are all double wicked. But it's not easy. I thought 14 and 16 would work but there not . I am now testing 18 and 20. I can't believe it myself. The HTP 126 were too small and the 1213 were a bit large. After getting hooked on this site I stocked up on the CDNs . Most are doing well in the 18s and I get crazy when I think i may have to go to a 20. I use soy 415
  18. i know that now. What I was referring to was the other day you directed me to the basic direction on the upper left hand of the web page. I followed peaks directions. But I will try yours . i like it much better. I think I understand.
  19. Howd ya do dat I just poled holes like in the basic directions you directed me to . I like your way tell me more please.....................I'm a sponge . Thanks but i don't know what I di to get that nice fat crystal pattern:laugh2:My family was so cute and proud of me . I wouldn't dare show them how they are really supposed to look:lipsrseal :shocked2:That's not gonna be easy friend
  20. Ok I did it. It was fun . Had to take a photo cause it is my first ever...... Anyway I did that wrecking thing and re-poured and you can see where I did that clearly:mad:. How come? And when can I try it ?
  21. I am trying one.... just because i have to. I am one sick pup:p. It took me 5 trys before the wax didn't pour out the bottom. I am so excited . Now I am reading on wrecking . Wish you were here. Actually I wish a bunch of you were here. I could get the blender going:soap baby dance: make some snacks and we could all watch this freaking thing cool .
  22. :laugh2: For palm pillars, I use CS's feather palm and their CSN 9 wick for 1.5"-2" pillars. CSN 12 for 2.5". If it's a little too small you can get a very pretty "framework" of wax around the edge. This happens for me with 2.25" CSN9 and 1.5" CSN5. Smaller, and I've had leaking out the side. These are medium dye and 5% FO. They slide right out of the mold. If I was going to sell candles, it'd probably be these. :laugh2: I mean I literally do not know how to wick a pillar. Like what’s the wick pin for? Can you use tabbed wick? That’s why I am looking for a tutorial. Just to get started. :embarasse
