  1. I did have a great line going. I have flower pots, jj, mason jars , I had melting pot 9 oz and 16 oz. i dipp bears dogs lions and cat. Bunnies in the spring and snowmen ornament and snowmen. This elevation jar is my nighmare gotta try new things right?
  2. Well thank god!!! When Iwas reading threads about old wax and thats why their scent were not throwing I nearly had a heart attack. Soaping....is it fun?
  3. I was using the 16 oz and 9 oz melting pot from the jar store. No one has them anymore. The 4 inch jars apothacary and elevation do make it tough but I have to have something other then my mason jelly and flowerpot. Also the the 4 inch is wonderful witht he shades . Did you get a large mushroom with the 22 . I got that at the begining and then at the bottom of the 24 oz it died out
  4. I have a lot to think about. All your advice is in my head . I want to get these jars wicked for my fall show. I have 4 a year. The funny thing is another friend was over sat and she saw the mess in my work room. She said she had no trouble with the large jars and loved them . everything she had for spring and summer worked well. her guests loved them as well. Burned so clean so fragrant blah blah blah. She said I was crazy to be worried. Not what I was noticing towards the end of the jars. As I said earlier another person saw what I saw. Go figure. They were wicked with two HTP 105 s all but sex on the beach , peach and french vanilla. I think I said this already ( forgive me if I have) I am now testing two cd10s Once I get these jars down and fall show going. I really want to get my FO down. That makes me crazy . reading that everyone else uses so much less.
  5. Well you are certainly not alone. Right about now I am think basket weaving might be for me . In a padded room:p
  6. That's it back to the drawing board Stella... it drowned out. testing two CD 10 now . Back to two wicks :angry2:wish they had a crying face to put in here
  7. waiting up for my son to come home so reading like crazy. What is this I read about old wax . How do you know how old is too old? YIKES more to worry about
  8. Jen08, I have never used anything other than 415 but when I search this site I have read some thing about it that scare me. Not sure if this will help but go to this link http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48833&highlight=gb+444
  9. WOW must be before my time.... this is my 4th year I add the color first based on what MC recommends . I guess it is what ever works. They also recommend the 1.50 oz of FO. But I am seeing I can use less on some. Not 1oz though I wish I could . This is a busy season and I am having much trouble wicking my new jars. Once that settles I will get on new scents from other places and keep trying to decrease my FO. anyways this is from MC Using the double-boiler method or a Presto Kitchen Kettle with a thermostat, heat wax to 185°. Never leave heating wax unattended. Pour heated wax into a separate container. (example: empty coffee can) If using colorant, add desired color. Stir until completely dissolved. If using color flakes you may add a small amount to wax and heat separately to ensure color is fully dissolved and then add to larger quantity of melted wax. Add your choice of weighed fragrance oil to the melted soy wax at 175°. Stir well. This part is a must and not to be skipped. You MUST WEIGH your fragrance oil and soy wax and add to the melted wax at 175°. The soy can be weighed before or after melted, it will weigh the same. For the 100% soy wax, tet wax cool to a temperature of around 100°-110°.
  10. Love you advice and opinion I really do... ( I am really loving this) my new obsession just wondering though how do you heat to 170 - 175 get it into a pour pot add color without it dropping to much lower? If I do that it drops too much and I am pretty sure you shouldn't add you FO below the 175. I think mc advises to heat to 185 and add at 175. but when I do that like I said it drops too quickly. I really need to start shopping around for other oils I agree with that for sure.
  11. My heavier scents like Baked breads , grandma's kitchen mulled cider yes, they seem fine at 1.0 oz per pound. My year round scents amber romance , angle wings baby powder and many more not strong enough for me unless Iuse 1.25 or 1.50. I heat my wax to 185 - 200 add color wait until it is at 175 add FO and pour at 95 to 100 slushy stage. I get my 415 and all my oils from MC. So not sure what's up . I never had a problem burning them either. Well not until now ...I am using new jars and I can't for the life of me find the right wick . Thats a thread all on it's own. My flower pots, mason and jelly jars do fine. I would love to save the money and use less FO. I tried it a week ago and I am not happy with the amount of HT. I am testing in 8 oz jelly jars so mabe i am expecting more of a throw from the small jar than I should be. Mc is all I know for years. so as far as not using the FO anymore I wouldn't know where to begin. They are so nice over there too. Love talking to you guys. I just found this site a week or so ago and it is so nice to chat with people about this stuff. Thanks
  12. May I ask a question. For years I have been using mostly 1.50 oz of FO per pound. Were you able to get a strong HT with GB415 with only 1 oz per pound? After reading on this forum so many people use 1 oz per pound I gave it a try and it wasn't so great. I by everything from MC and have always liked them . I am wondering if it is the 415 or the FO. Any thoughts. Thanks so much
  13. testing is going terrible.... but here's another question ... Going by what you say above. Do you think that the burn rate increase or decreases towrads the end? Back to testing ... I see so many candle makers selling this size jar .I want to know why it isn't working for me:( Gee I sound like a two year old
  14. once they are cold again I will go another 4 hours ..... so thankful I have found all of you.
  15. On Sat. As I posted I made scents with 1 oz per pound of GB 415 . I could not wait the entire week ( I know I am such a loser) so I started burning them. I get a good Hot Throw with most in a small room . Here's my question . I made them in small 9 oz melting pots from the jar store 3" Diameter x 3.5" Height. Could I even expect for them to throw heavy in larger open rooms?
  16. I will thank you . I really don't want to double wick. I am blown away on how much differnce my old jar 3 7/8 to 4 inch makes . thanks
  17. YUK. Would you have a starting point for me with the CDNs. When I douple the HTp 105 they tend to drown out at the bottom half and the HTP 126 TOO HOT. The cotten wick huge mushroom . I wonder where we could get the larger CDNs without buying a zillion. Though Richard uses the CDN 22 with luck . I don't know ......
  18. What do you think after 3 ,4 hour burns toatla 12.... Is it time to throw in the towel ?
  19. Richard do you have any suggestions on my results. My 3 burn looks worse. total burn time 10 hours .... 4 then 4 now 2.
  20. That's because you appear to be nuts like me. I see the time of your post and I laugh. I am up sooo late at night and back up in the morning. I don't stop . Mistakes are goona happen when your nuts. I am nuts
  21. great.. got me curious:confused: what was it ?
  22. Just some things that came to mind...Are the two of them by any chance a heavy scent? if so maybe cutting down on the FO will help. How about your dye in these two. Are you using a lot more?
