  1. WOW, DanaE you make amazing candles!!! I know some of these were from 2005, and I am not sure if you are making candles anymore, but WOW! I LOVE this one!! I am debating on trying to make grubby pillars, and you are helping me along with that decision!! WOW!
  2. I LOVE this!!! Hopefully you sold lots of them!! Coconut Cream would be an awesome smell for these!:smiley2:
  3. I love it! Do you still make grubby pillars?:smiley2:
  4. Wow. Just Wow. I really think this is gorgeous!! I love bath and body products, especially bath bombs and whipped body butter... or whipped body frosting as they call it up here. Love your work! What an eye for detail and creative too!!
  5. That is the most beautiful soap!!!! WOW! I love it!! I would buy a loaf of that just for myself lol Do you sell by the loaf?
  6. That is awesome! I actually just saw a potpourri jar like yours exactly at a small shop where I live and she was selling it for $10. I think you are along the right lines for prices, and like you say... they sold like hotcakes.. that means that your prices are good!!
  7. I need candles like this for my Christmas Crazy Customers. The lady who makes these here in Canada will NOT sell them to me in bulk. Is there anyone who would be willing to make these and sell me 20-30 of them to start?? I would like them scented in a light peppermint vanilla type scent. These are gorgeous, but they are made by hand. normal pillars and then hand whipped on the outside. Any takers? *bats eyes* P.S. I am in Canada so I would prefer a Canadian candlemaker, as the shipping would be much less, and I wouldn't have to pay a ton of Duty!! Let me know if you are interested.
  8. It sold for $60 to a lovely lady who wanted it for Christmas for her Fireplace Hearth! So there ya go... I got what I wanted for it and she loves it!:yay:
  9. The heat of the fire burns the wax, just as a flame from a wick would. Once the fire is finished, the wax should be gone!!
  10. Hope this helps! Soy & Paraffin Blend Container Candle Wax (IGI 6006A) Features: • Good single pour properties under optimal conditions for containers up to 28 oz jars • Good adhesion to jars under optimal conditions, low shrink. • Fragrance oil retention of up to 10% by weight is possible. • Smooth and creamy look. • Pre-blended, no additives required. • Pouring temperature should be from 160 – 180 F. • Congealing point 130F. • Optimal pour temperature is best determined by experimentation. Handling and Melting of Container Wax: • Melting of Wax The wax should be heated to a temperature of 175 – 185 degrees F to melt the wax up. Do not heat the wax above 200o F. If Wax is held at higher temperatures for long periods of time it will discolor. Always use a thermometer when melting the wax and never leave your heated wax unattended. While the wax is melting stir the wax regularly to reduce localized heating of the oil. This will help to reduce burning of the wax while heating. • Adding of other Ingredients Other additives or ingredients may be added at any time to help improve the performance of the wax. • Adding Candle Scent and Dye The Fragrances and Dyes can be added to the wax after the wax is completely liquid. Make sure the dye is mixed and fully dissolved into the wax. Fragrance should be added to wax just before pouring into molds. This reduces the chance of the fragrant oil losing its potency. • Pouring Candles Make sure that the mold is at room temperature or slightly warmer before pouring the wax into the mold. The wax should be poured in the mold while the wax is 160 to 180 degrees F. Container Choice: • Container Choice is probably one of the most critical things to choose correctly for any container candle to get good results. The container shape affects the cooling rate of the wax. For optimal results, the cooling rate should be as uniform as possible. • Containers with uniform wall thickness are easier to pre-warm and maintain a uniform cooling rate. • Containers with smooth rounded corners are best. • For optimal single pour characteristics, containers with a diameter equal to or larger than the height are required. Containers with a diameter smaller than the height may require a second pour to top them up.
  11. Ok, right now I use zinc wicks 28-24's. I don't even know if I could wick up on a tealight in Zinc. Anyone know?
  12. Ok...I think I am having issues with a certain oil. I bought Jack Frost oil from Canwax, and it seems no matter how much I cut down the amount of oil used, or wick up... it isnt working... it goes into a super small flame and just puts itself out. The top of the wick goes white and thin. Is there something I am doing wrong with this oil?? I have tried it in 4786 alone... and in a 50/50 blend of 4786 and 4627. Anyone had this happen to them with any other oil?
  13. Have you ever blended your heart out only to discover you have created a replica of a scent you already own lol I was adding and adding scents... only to realise I created Christmas Splendor without using a drop of it lol Anyhow... Happy Blending to you all! I did however create 3 lovely new scents today that are AMAZING! If any of you remember Frosty Snowman... well I re-created it!!
  14. I wholeheartedly agree!!! I am new to this game, and I know that I have a lot to learn. I appreciate every precious post on this board, and I do not know what I would do without it!! There is no way that you would buy a scent that is listed on here by everyone as smelling awful, or having yucky scent throw no matter what you test. There is no way that you would buy wax that you wouldn't be able to use with those 1000 zinc core wicks you got at such a great deal. There is no way ... even at 3 in the morning... when you need a pick me up... that you should ever feel alone.. as someone is ALWAYS online, and always reading posts. You guys have been my sounding board, and you have been there to tell me how much of a wonderful job I am doing. The compliments I get make my day!! My other half is supportive, but he isnt a woman, and he isnt a candlemaker, so he has no idea what I am talking about half the time! HE even thanks God for this site!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who have posted and replied on this forum. You all deserve a HUGE hug and a standing ovation for all of the hard work and love that goes into this!!!!!! WELL DONE for starting this topic!!! It will be a HOT one! Thank you all, Nicole:bliss:
  15. P.S. There were no little bubbles at the bottom or any jack frost marks from it cooling ... I did NOT heat up the jars, and had it room temperature in the house. Adhesion looks amazing for now, will see how it goes after sitting in the porch for the night
  16. Well here are the results in a tealight test first ... LOVE IT! I burned a tealight all evening until it went out. 7 hours and 40 minutes!! It is soft, but not too soft. You do notice that the color is muted a little compared to what it would normally be, but I expected that a little. The wicks I used were 28-24Z and it burned a charm!! VERY impressed. I think for containers it will be beautiful. What I did notice was that it has VERY minimal shrinkage. I did also pour a 100% 4627 container. It also had very minimal shrinkage and did not require a repour at all. Only thing about this is, when you go to cut the wick you really have to watch and be careful, as it is SUPER soft. Any finger slip shows up and if you move the wick it makes an indent. I will not use 100% 4627, but I will use 50-50 for sure!! I am super impressed. I also like the fact that the wax looks shimmery, almost as if it has super fine glitter all the way through it! It also looks somewhat swirled a little. It is really beautiful wax. I used an ice cream scoop and just swiped it with one finger to clear it into my pour pot which was sitting on my scale. After I wiped that finger off with a paper towel. No mess, and the ice cream scoop stays in the wax Hope this helps some of you to decide if you want to venture into this wax. Overall it was a resounding success!!:yay:
  17. I created a lovely Cinnamon Bayberry blended FO, and I am testing it tonight in a new blend of wax!!! I decided to try 50/50 blend of IGI 4627 and IGI 4786. Has anyone had luck with this blend? It looks like it is cooling lovely, and has minimal shrinkage, which I love. Any thoughts on this, or any stories about this blend would be more than welcome
  18. I set the potpourri in first, and then I carefull pour the wax in where there is a space as to not drip wax all over the tops of the potpourri.
  19. Im Sorry, that one is under construction at the moment!! Here is the old one, it will be changing soon. If you are on facebook... you can join the group called "Nik's Wax N Wicks Candles Thorsby" It has photos of all of my creations on there http://nikswax.websq.co.uk/

  21. I have made a 3lb candle in a LOVELY glass rectangular container. I will post a picture, but I need help on a price! It is 8" long, 4" wide, and 4" deep 3lbs, or 1.4kg of wax in it!
