LX Wick for 1.5 oz Hex
Wildheart75 replied to Chauna1's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
LX 14 work great for me. -
I don't have any suggestions but I was actually thinking of purchasing that wax tomorrow. I use nothing but LX for my soy containers and have been wanting to try some paraffin container wax, haven't made up my mind on which wax to go with yet though.

"you should give lessons" or "teach me..."
Wildheart75 replied to Bella Luna's topic in Business Side of Things
I had the same problem so I know where you are coming from. A friend of mine wanted me to teach her after I acknowledged I wanted to sell at our synagogue, well she started talking about selling them at our synagogue once I taught her how to make them. I was upset and offended at first but I decided to show her the ropes anyway. I was making candles for Hannukah and so she bought her own supplies and decided that is what she would give everyone for Hannukah gifts. LOL, Well after spending 6 hours on her feet making votives she realized it isn't as easy as it looks, this was 3 years ago and she still has all of her supplies left as she never once attempted to make candles again. She really liked making them but she did not like the labor, lol. -
I have no problem paying a little extra to peak especially for FO because that I KNOW they do not order from candlewic. Candlewic molds and a few other things might be a little bit cheaper but I have no problem paying a little extra to peak just for the fact that it gets here the next day or day after that. Peaks customer service is the best IMO and experience. Creeksidecandles, I accept it, but I won't do anymore ordering from them unless it is seriously on sale and I won't need it for at least 2-3 weeks. Peak is just one state away from me so that is obviously the best choice of supplier for me.

Anyone use these votive packs?
Wildheart75 replied to jennhalcyon's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
Candle Man, The ones at alabaster you pour the wax and wick directly into it, so they work as a mold as well. That is the great thing about them. I would definetly pay 43 cents per 2 pack just for getting to pour and close the lid and forget about them, lol. I LOATHE votives so the alabaster clamshells would be perfect for me. -

I haven't used those but have been wanting to. I would so be all over that if a co-op comes about. -
free 1 lb. FO w/$60 purchase at Candlewic
Wildheart75 replied to dpowell's topic in Business Side of Things
Sure now they have that special...just great. It takes 2 weeks for me to recieve my shipment from them..which I still have 3 more days to go....and now they have a special offering a free lb of fo! Grrrr Candlewic. -
That is the only scent I make for MIL. I keep her in supply with parrafin pillars and soy containers and never had any issue with wicking or throw in either. She loves them and burns them a good 12 hours a day everyday. That is one of my fav scents, it is very clean and fresh but not like clean cotton though.

LX vs Flatbraid for Pillars?
Wildheart75 replied to sugarysweet95's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
I've been using flat braid in my pillars for a few years now and works awesome. I have just started trying lx wicks and not having any luck so far...I guess if something already works you should leave it alone...lol. -
Tara replied back to me and said the order was not implemented in their system until the 5th and then I am a 4 day shipping away from them once the shipment is out. Well the order was shipped out yesterday so if I am 4 days away then why will it not get here until the 12th? that would be 6 days from the time ups recieved the order. I wish I would have known this before hand. So now I will just have to take the site off my fav lists...I planned on ordering more from them but I just cant wait almost 2 weeks everytime I need something. Why can't they just beam it to me, LMAO! patience isn't one of my virtues in case you didnt notice. I planned on doing things with what I ordered this weekend....blows that all to hell
-
Ok, so I just got a notice from candlewic stating my shipment will be delivered on the 12th...so it will get here about 2 weeks after I order.....that just isn't acceptable to me, it should not take 2 weeks to get an order. I think I will stay with my main suppliers from now on, no matter how good the deals may be with candlewic.
-
I have never ordered from them, my main supplier is peaks..they are closer to me and I LOVE their CS. I feel like a traitor for ordering from candlewic but they have some things I need that Peak doesn't. Anyway, I ordered from them 3 days ago and have heard nothing back with the exception of my order #. I get my peak package the next day or sometimes 2 days after....it has been 3 days and I was wondering how long does it take for them to ship the stuff? sheesh, peaks has really spoiled me I guess. I am antsy and I want my stuff.

Dilemna - made to order "cure factor"
Wildheart75 replied to girlyracer's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
I know alot of people here cure their candles but I don't. I make both parrafin and soy and also para/soy blends. I gave a co worker a few different soy containers the day after I poured, I couldn't smell them very well but she could. When she lit them that night she said she could smell them all throughout her house and was very pleased with them. Her hubby which also works with us said it drives him nuts when she burns my candles cuz he swears she is cooking something and makes him hungry, lol. Everyone I give them to says the same thing, even my husband who has no qualms about telling me if he doesnt like a candle or a specific FO, etc. -
Yummy yum yum Emulsified Sugar Scrub

I want some...seriously, how much you charge? -
There was a co-op going on for those...not sure if it is still opened or not though, sorry.
-
That is absolutely beautiful. I want some Where are those cut pics??

I agree with everyone else, pour slower and cool slower. I use cba and sometimes I will put my jars in an insulated cooler, it keeps them from cooling too fast.

My MIL and Sis give me feedback when I ask. However my BIL and his GF give me DETAIL feedback, right down to how many hours it lasted, those 2 seem to get it. They know exactly what I want to hear and have no quams about telling me if something didn't work exactly the way "I" think it should, lol. They know what I am looking for in the way my candles burn and the scent so they really pay attention when they are burning them. My friends on the other hand are a diff issue. I gave one of my friends some M&P soap I made and she said her and her DH loved it but that it was peeling her 14yr old daughters hands....however she did mention that her daughter did clean using straight bleach with no gloves just before she washed her hands with my soap....so my friend seems to think it was a chemical reaction from both products and could not possibly be from using straight bleach with no gloves. But thats ok, her and her DH loved the soap and are asking for more, lol.
