  5. Hi, i know what you mean. i dont think its the wax in this case, i hve tested 8 oz tureens and double wicking them burns very nice and clean but too fast. what i did was go up the the 12 oz tureens, double wicking them and they do fine. I get 45 to 55 houres out of the 12 oz tureens(which hold app. 9.5 to 10 oz of wax. its very hard to wick the 8oz tureens, 1 wick dosent do the job and 2 of my smallest wicks burned too fast.. it was very frustrating because i love the small tureens. so now i am testing the very cute 3.5 oz tureens. and now just carrying the 12 oz tureens. they can still be a bit tricky to wick with 2 wicks...
  6. for those who have the masterbuilt turkey fryers, i got one from albertsons locally, i am not sure i have the right one, it has the heating element inside the pot where you put the wax in, is that right. i thought it was more like a presto pot. it says gourmet turkey fryer, not turk n fry or whatever... i was about to start pouring for a large fundraiser, but i need to know if this is what everybody is using. tia
  7. i am one of the people who dosent care for making tons of votives, i have to say i dont mind making a few batches every now and then.. I was thinking about making votives to give to customers to try new scents or just that little something extra,, or could this be too costly, does anyone do this? i thought about scented tealights also just to get someone open to try new scents. kinda like complimentary scents you get from FO companys.
  8. i do agree with that, but i thought i was just proud of my label.. but i tell you the 3 wholesale accounts said they loved my labels and presention before even opening the lid.. those statistics makes me feel good. I guess i should stop rattling on about mushrooms and cotton, zinc , scent throw, to my customers cuz they really dont know what i am talking and probably dont care...
  9. i know exactly how you feel, i did a flee market the other day, after all my expenses and selling 2 candles i make 5.00. but from that 5 i already made a couple hundred from an office she works at that wanted my candles. i am going back a third time tomorrow. congrats!!
  10. zinc or cotton?? do customers really care 99% of the people i talk to dont know what a mushroom is, cotton or zinc wicks? all they want to know is if they smell good and if they burn clean??
  11. just updating... i tried cutting back fo, 2 diff size LX did not work ....then i did it. i tried zinc! man i cannot believe, on my first try, beautiful, burn, great mp after 3hrs!! I wish i would have tried this 90ozs and 10 differentwicks ago!!
  12. someone requested scent sweet olive, like the tree... i love this scent also, does anyone know where i can get this one?
  13. thanks you guys!! this board ROCKS!! thats what i am looking for.
  14. shelf life test... hmm.... maybe i should have thought of that before i sold them to her... i feel as though i should make it right... take em back and give her a credit on candles call it a recall?? thats the only small account ive sold them to. the other account is seasonal and they sell em all in a couple of months.. someting to think about... i use the aroma bead and find they absorb better than the corn cob.. i have had some aroma bead sachets stored for months and they have not eaten through or anything, but definitaley not as strong..
  15. i am converting a little shed into a workshop, i will be heating it with a little electric heater, of course turning it off at nite, we dont have much of a winter in louisiana, but some days it could get 20degrees at nite. How will this effect my fos and everything as matter of fact...
  16. does anyone know if they make a huge fry daddy? it seems one year for the holidays i saw a really big preto pot fry daddy thing to fry turkeys in a t wally world for like 80.00? any one seen these. i just keep buying presto pots, have 3 right now. have 600 candles to make in next 2 weeks and looking for a more time consuming method?
  17. maybe for the sachets, instead of stapling i can use a sticker. i got these a t walmart in the craft dept. , so you think thicker would be better??
  18. any one know where i can find a lt colored craft paper for brochures. i know they make em, i picked up a brochure from a bus the other day made with these..
  19. thats kinda how i feel, real uneasy about it.. i wasnt too keen on their display for the show i visited, very unorganized, unprofessional. i will just listen to tha deep small voice.. thanks for the advice, thats why i came here first before leaping.. i love this board!!
  20. was it the bags that i sent the votives in for the votive swap?
  21. my concern is one of my wholesalers just ordered 500, will they keep if those sit on the shelf for 6 months??
  22. I have wholesale accounts who order aroma bead sachets... i package them in a plastic baggie with card stock stapled label. my concern is, how long will they continue to smell like this... should i shrink wrap them or seal a meal them to keep their scent longer? one account ordered a bunch for a grand opening 3 months ago, and i went in the other day, she still had quite a bit left and they were not too strong? i also have some orders for christmas and are wanting to wait till close to christmas to purchase them so they are still strong... i know the beads are still strong in the airtight container, so i am thinking seal a meal would work, but i couldnt staple the label on , i guess i could put a sticker?? any one experience this?
  23. how do you embed a picture when doing a balloon candle?
  24. yes they are about 3.5 inches, i think i will try lx and cut down to 1 oz will let you know how it goes, thanks for the support, if i wouldnt have this board i would have to go to a shrink and get help for this wicking obsession..
