  4. I have an opportunity to do a small festival this weekend and i have no idea how much to bring. its through a local catholic school and theres probably 500 or so students its 2 days. I wish i knew how much people come every year but i dont. any one do any small festivals?
  5. actually i do embedding, , still dont get it on my 1st try usually have to remelt couple of times which is not fun. i guess practice makes perfect. heres a pic of my last embed
  6. do you get the same effect with overdipping than with embedding a photo in a hurricane shell? I read somewhere where someone just puts pic on with tacky wax (I think) and puts future floor polish over it??? that sure seems a heck of a lot easier than embedding?? is that what donita does to her baloon orbs, overdips? and does anyone know how to see the slide for instructions for that. the link brings you to a page to sign in? thanks
  7. just tested tayberry and teakwook and I love it!
  8. i have been doing this for 3 years, started off with jj and switched to tureens. just got thru testing tureens and got this batch of wax given to me and a few ive burned from this wax burned diff. like needed to wick up... just thought maybe this is what effected the burn. i will be gettin a new case soon and will just check it.. maybe its that the newer wax was changed somewhat compared to the older one... at least i hope so. thanks
  9. can old wax matter? some one gave me a case of j223 from 2004. i poured a few candles and and burned them, well they needed to be wicked up... i just got through retesting all my jars for wick size and these did not work.. i really hope thats all it is.. i think i will give up if i have to retest again.. it took me 4 months and money to test... and that was just one size, i still have 2 more sizes to test... another 4 months or so... any one experienced this with wax?? thanks in advance
  10. Heres my second attempt...this is just oo and castor, pink was the only color i had and i couldnt decide on a scent so i chose white tea and ginger...(dont like the smell in soap at all) well i shaved the heck out of these with a potatoe peeler, they were so ugly.. i poured about an inch or so in the bottom of a thin drawer organizer then i cut like browinies.. they were crooked and ugly on both sides, next time i will pour in a loaf pan that way the largest part will be smoother when i cut them and only the thin sides will be rough, if that makes any sense,, thats if i do hp again thinking of trying cp today... Its so funny nobody wants to try the soap, because i used it right after i poured it and didnt tounge test it, well my hands gradually became red and itchy. i poured vinegar on them and that helped... i asked my daughter to try it today, told her it was fine... she said, "i dont want to pour vinegar on my hands before school." i will be lucky if they try any soap i make..LOL any hoo... here it is...
  11. my soap is cute, definitley needs work. my hands are fine too. thanks for asking. i will try to post a pic in gallery later. i used it this morning. not sure i like the feel, it was a little slimy, is this the nature of castille? i was wondering if FO could have caused some irritation, seemed smell was strong? I used 2 oz for this batch...
  12. after cphp can you try it? well dumb newbie here... only after 2or 3 hours after pouring i cut a piece and used it.. then i used a patato peeler to make the tops look nice and smooth...... well my hands started tingling and after an hour they were burning and red... i remembered reading about vinegar so i poured vinegar over my hands and it helped.... i guess maybe i should wait at least a day.... i am soo impatient.. lesson learned.
  13. i just finished it. maybe i missed something, it never looked whipped like the tutorial, but it did rise and look like applesauce. so i just finished it. its setting up like it will work. it sure has an ugly texture. i know its not as smooth cp, but i wonder if not using the stick blender make it not as smooth, i did stir it with a spatula throughout though. is there a trick to making these smoother and prettier?
  14. as i am typing i have a batch of soap in the cp, this is my 2nd try.. well just how long is this supposed to take, i think i did something wrong.. its been 2 hrs and its never changed.. it never rose like they say it supposed to.. should i keep cooking or do you think i messed up.. it seems i may hve put too much water. is there anything i can do to salvage it.. heres my recipe.. its a castille i think 32 oz olive oil 3 oz castor 4.5 oz lye 12 oz water one thing i did was only had 31 oz of olive oil, so i did 31 oz oo and 4 oz castor... dont know if that would hve did anything. should i be using the stick blender to stir??
  15. heres my messed up batch of dog poop soap, like my son called it. got my calculations wrong for one, then i think i burnt my additives (honey and oatmeal, added at wrong time, they cooked to this color.) was soft like fudge, but smelled like burnt oatmeal and honey mixed with oatmeal milk and honey FO..it was a good experience.. i am ready to try again, this time i will do something simple with less ingredients..
  16. oh well, i messed that all up, was a little impatient and went ahead and did the recipe with the smaller amount of water and lye, well, i came up with something... dosent smell to nice and my son said it looks like square blocks of dog poop! the recipe i was trying had oatmeal and honey additives, well they turned the batch poop brown.... and it did only make 1 pound and was pretty soft like fudge... good experience though... ready to try another one , i think after that experience, i will do an easy one with crisco.. heres it what it looked like.. almost like fudge.. has an aroma of burnt honey and oatmeal mixed with oatmeal milk and honey FO.
