what are the obvious visual signs of too much lye?

theres no white just on the edges very brittle and chalky feeling... why the color?? i did a zap test and it seems fine...

heres it is.. another confession, the lye water had crystals and i was just hoping i could get it to blend with the stick blender.. whats up with the color?? i added no color??

This is about my 10th batch of cp..i wanted to try warm vanilla sugar and heres what it looks like!! I am a little concerned because it is very chalky on the edges, is this something to be concerned about? I read in one of my soapmaking books chalky and lots of white powder.. too much lye and not to use? one thing i did was soap when oil and lye were both at room temp or cooler, is that a prob.. i used unrefined shea... mango, olive and coconut oil....

I am looking for a high maintenance dupe, i found a perfect one at IFT,just tested it. but i didnt know that there was a minimun order. If i cant find a good dupe elsewhere where there is no min. maybe i can try a co-op with this scent from IFT? anyone interested? tia

green colorant for cp.. is there any natural colorant that will give me green? all i have is liquid colors for b&b and they never come out the color i want.. i do have french green clay?? it is really light though.. any suggestions?? tia

I want to sub oil for shea butter in bath bombs. do i melt the butter first then measure tablespoons or do i measure dry 2 tablespoons then melt?? tia

Now you know when you have ideas and there is no one who can really give you any input...I come to my candletech family... please dont laugh.. i am doing a small festival in 2 weeks and was wanting to offer a small bar area to attract attention. maybe something easy... offer 10 to 20 scents to choose from and some already packaged salts and mix for them. maybe even, with linen & body sprays, and even bubble bath and shower gels?? still considering lotion, as that could get a little messy, Is there a sanitarian (if i spelled that rt) issue here i should be concerned about? and while i am asking all the questions... just how do you scent unscented bath bombs? tia
