  1. Hi Ducky, I've been busting I mean testing balls now for the last 2 years and I've yet to get one perfect. The best advice I can lend is to start off with a #3 and work your way up. I've tried the flat braid but it tends to flop and drown in it's own... well you know. Good luck to you.
  2. 1343 works great in my molds but make sure to spray with some pam or silicone or you'll be sorry.
  3. You may consider LX-14 or C-50;) I am in the process of testing these as well but when or if I do figure it out I'll be sure to let you know. Good luck.
  4. I'm selling the s... out of it! I live and sell in the artsy fartsy side of town where all of the pot heads live so it only seemed natural to me to carry it. So far so good.
  5. OMG Moonrose!! All of those are amazing! Awesome work girl!!!
  6. Me five .... or... a hundred.
  7. Lin, I bought a candle shaper from pourette.com for shaping my tapers but never needed to use it. When I finish dipping I hang them to dry completely! Then I cut the weight off of the bottom and flaten the base just as I would any other pillar just spin it around a few times in my presto pot. As for the crystal effect, don't dillute the sterine with anything just melt the sterine (a whole shit load of it) and put it in your dipping vat dip until your heart is content! That's it. Good luck I'm sure they will be beautiful
  8. I generally don't shop anywhere but peaks for anything related to my candle making business however one of my customers requested a mold that peaks didn't carry so I did some shopping around and found the mold that I needed and several different hurricane shape molds at pourette.com at a reasonable price. But do yourself a favor and stick with Peak for your wax it's worth the wait and then some!!
  9. I have a spigot on all of my presto pots and personally can't imagine life without one. My son came up with an incrediable idea for my presto pot and scale all in one. He placed my scale on a lazy susan then he put a thin piece of plexi -glass over the scale to protect it from wax and heat (or what ever else I could possibly spill on it) then he put my presto pot on the top of that so now the entire unit is all in one and it swivels. With the tare feature on my flat scale I weigh my wax prior to melting it and then swivel my spigot around to my pour pitcher and bam I'm in business. I Think he'll be an engineer just like his father.

  11. When I make my molded tapers I poke relief holes with a skewer from the grill. It is the only thing that I have found that is both long and thin enough to do the job, however I don't poke all the way down just about 1/3 of the way usually does the job.
  12. I use 1343 with 8% sterine and 2% micro then I over dip my tapers in strait sterine for the crystal effect they come out beautiful. Good luck and have fun!
  13. I prefer not to shake. I think the less air bubbles the better. If you feel like it needs a bit of mixing up just tip the bottle upside down (gently) a time or two, but I wouldn't shake.
