  1. It did come from the same batch but I did make on different days. I think the weather was about the same. Not rain on either day. It's been pretty hot here in the 80-90's. I never thought about the temp. though.
  2. I tried just plan goats milk base with 32 oz. of base and 2 tbls of honey and it seems a little sticky. Not bad but I notice it. I added the same amount to another batch with other additives but it was not sticky. Any clue as to why this happened? I stirred it a good while so I thought it was mixed well. Should I just give it a few days? Will that help? Thanks in advance.
  3. Candybee I tried it again and you were right I had to much oil. It is not oily anymore. I haven't used it yet but I think it's going to turn out nice. Today I will try a plain goats milk soap with no scent or color. Think I will add a little honey. I would like to use it on my face so would it be okay to use castor oil or should I just use the honey. Thanks for the help!
  4. Thanks Candybee I will try to wait I'm so impatient I never make it past I day but I'm working on my patience. LOL. I cant wait to try again because with to many oils it still got a great lather. Think it lathered better than any combos I tried. Oh and your recipe for OMH is awesome as well.
  5. Thanks Candybee I will try it again.
  6. I tried this recipe and the lather is great, but the bar seems a little oily. I tried to only use 4 oz. Of base and 1 tsp of shea butter, 1/4 tsp of castor oil and liquid glycerin combined (in 1/4 tsp measuring spoon put half of castor and half glycerin). Hope that makes sense. So should this soap feel oily with these ingredients or did I use to much castor and glycerin? I love the soap, but wondering is it ok for the soap to feel this way before it is even used?
  7. If adding dr bronner's castile soap to melt and pour it would have to be listed on the ingridients right are would it depend on how much is used? What if some of the same ingridents are the same as what is already in the melt and pour? Would you list it twice? Would you list them at the end of other ingridents?
  8. Hasanyone had experience with adding additives with BB bases. I just tried and added shea butter, cocoa butter,oo, cocount oil, glycerin, and scent. All at 1/2 tsp per 8oz of base, and scent was 3ml. I'm not use if I really lost lather or not. It seems like it still had lather it just took longer to get the lather. So does that mean I lost lather? If you've used their bases how much were u able to add? I know I will have to experiment with what works for me but thought I would ask to keep from wasting supplies. It did make my bar harder which I wanted also. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  9. Got part of my shipment today from USPS and the other half want be here until Friday that is coming through FED X. Didn't realize USPS was faster and they shipped the same day from the same place. Wish everything could come through USPS (cheaper and faster).
  10. I order from them and in my experience they have been nothing but nice. I have had some warmers and bulbs that were broke and they were quick to send out replacements and extras. They didn't even want me to return the broken items are anything they just told me to keep and use what I could of what wasn't broken. I do undertand that about just sending something u didn't order though. I wouldn't like that either. I just order what I like and my customers just pick from what I have. Never had anyone just request to order certian ones, I dont even show them the brochure to avoid someone wanting something they dont have becaue they have been out of ones I wanted for a while.
  11. Thanks everyone for all of your great advice. It is greatly appreciated and I cant wait to put it to use.
  12. Oh andI forgot coconut oil.
  13. I ordered 25lb of base yesterday and some butters and oils. I'm wondering if this is two many to put in or if some of the additives do the same thing in the soap. I got Shea butter, cocoa butter, olive oil, castor oil, glycerin. I was thinking maybe 1 teaspoon or 1 tablespoon of each. Would that be to many? Any help will be appreciated. And does anyone know where I can get a good Shea butter scent?
  14. Ok so I ordered some of BB 1 lb. goat milk base and really liked it. Today I tried to order 25lb and realized there was a price difference in the 25 bulk and 25 premium. The 25 Bulk is $39.00 and the 25 premium is 53.25. So I called to see what the difference is and was told that there is a few deiiferent ingredients in the two the bulk brand has SLS in it. I've read a little about SLS on here but not really sure if it's good are bad to have in my soap. She said that the premium shouldn't have to have any additives added to it and that the bulk may require a few if a chose to do so. So my question is for those of u that have tried both which do u prefer and why? I also asked is they used SFIC and she never really said. She said their bases are made for them and wanted to know if there was a specific reason I wanted SFIC. Dont know much about SFIC either but have ready here how some really liked it. I had planned on ordering today but now I don't really know what to do I would hate to order the bulk of 25lbs. and it doesn't perform as well as the premium. Or would all recommend buying just a plan white base and adding my own goats milk and other additives. Any help is greatly appreciated
  15. Thanks everyone and Jeanie I will try some of those additives.
  16. Thanks Scrochet will check it out and Thanks Candybee I will try that also.
  17. Thank You! will check them out.
  18. OK so this is my first batch of soap it is Goat's milk from BB and FO is Oatmal milk and honey @ 7.5 ml. Hope that is the right amount. I was going for 1/4 oz. I added 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of grinded oatmal. No color. So my question is what do u all look for when testing, I figure lather, scent, and moisture to skin. It smells good not to strong. It has a good lather. I couldn't stand to wait any longer than 3 hrs. to use so it may later even more once it sets for a while. The hubby said it made his skin dry but to me it kinda felt like a better clean. The only way I know to describe is like when you clean glass and you get that squeaky clean that's kinda what is felt like to me when a ran my hand over my skin. Hope that doesn't sound to weird. Dont know how else to explain. Was wondering if I should try adding some shea butter for moisture. Any advice on making it more moist is welcomed. I've never used homemade soap so I don't know what it should feel like.
  19. Thank you all for ur help I really appreciate it.

  21. I use a paraffin blend and I let mine cure for a week befor burning. I have lit them sooner and found that I get a better throw if I let them set longer. I don't use those wicks so cant be of much help on that. HTH
