  1. I can second Candybee's choice. Love it!
  2. How recent is this in your line? If it is new, I say try mixing your own blend. I would buy this oil, but I would also get some teak, tobacco and maybe a wine scent and try your hand at mixing (sniff your original and see if it is close or if something is missing; perhaps ask the vendor what notes were in the FO). It might not be the same, but MAY have the same "feel" to it. That way, you can say something like "improved" or something like that when marketing the change. This way, you don't have to worry about something discontinued all at once, you know; does that make sense? I hope this was helpful and I wish you luck in finding something that works for you!
  3. I LOVE Honeysuckle (one of my fave flowers) and I have it as a mix with English Ivy. Mind you, I am not selling, but my testers really liked and responded well to it. I also thought of mixing it with a hint of lavendar for a more "green" scent. I do have a mix of my fave flowers (rose, hyacinth, honeysuckle, lilac) and other notes to create a signature scent (from my perfume experimenting days). I find it is very versatile. I say keep trying it, alone and in mixes, and see if you find something you will love. Good luck and give us and updates! *S*
  4. Jewelry! I made this necklace over the holidays and love the color combo. I couldn't get the pic to fit, so I posted the link from my MySpace account: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=338137274&albumID=727126&imageID=9820992 (I will get the hang of posting pics... I will not be defeated! *L*)
  5. I am not a soaper, but I love the colors. Very soft, yet punchy/tropical, like the scent (which I am now going to have to try in a candle for myself! *L*). I really think you are being hard on yourself- but then, we are all our worst critics. But, truly, all of your soaps I have seen are great- this one is no different, IMO. Good luck on finding that orange! *S*
  6. Aw, poor furbaby! Reminds me of my fatbutt, Leo (he is an all orange tabby and I also have another brownish-black/white/tan tabby named Cleo; both are mutts I got from a rescue shelter). As for the candles affecting them, I have no advice here. I have been doing candles (testing phase) for little over a month and my babies have not been affected. I will say that they had eye issues the first six months home with us and we wondered what was bothering them, but it worked out and they have been fine. But I will definately pay attention to see if my candles or other projects is affecting them. I hope Koda gets better soon- so precious!
  7. Not sure. I have seen some tins, but I am not sure if they have the centering indentations. Will look around in my links and post if I see them.
  8. I also found these, if anyone is interested: http://www.dunwoodybooth.com/outer.php?page=product3&product_type_id=1634
  9. Yeah, I saw that I miss posted... sorry!
  10. I bought and just received my CDN wicks from CSci: http://candlescience.com/wick/pretabbed-wick.php and I got this vendor from posters here: http://www.wickit.net/products.html
  11. Yep, Jason is still on their site: http://www.gfgb.com/contact/contact.htm
  12. You could look in hardware/paint stores. I got mine from Lowe's.
  13. NOM (no offense meant) to anyone, but I find it funny to see wax made to pull away from the jar, yet most of the time, wax was formulated to improve adhesion. *L*
  14. Oh no! I have only ordered 10 lb bags and I never had any issues.
  15. Secret society is right! *L* So, the carrier oils I have include Vit. E (I also bought some). I got a variety (GS, JJ, Avacado, Sesame, AK) and I also have some glycerin (for a different project). Am I understanding you correctly about adding glycerin to the oils or the alcohol? Like you, I have a time of it trying to find dependable info as a starting point. I wanted to use alcohol, but decided oil was better. Thanks!
  16. No, I haven't. I may have to try this... *L*
  17. I would probably be this way if I weren't a newbie. At this point, I am just happy when something goes right or corrects itself. *L* But I am happy that my new wicks came. I will be testing HTPs, CDs and CSNs to see which I like and post results for feedback. I am hoping something goes right. *S* You're welcome and thanks for sharing! I enjoy hearing from everyone!
  18. If you are talking about Candle Science (I have seen "CS" used for another vendor, I think), then ITA about Cedarwood Vanilla. I use it in a mix and it is awesome! I also love their Hazelnut Vanilla (I tried using this in a mix with their Black Cherry and it overpowered it).
  19. Hi! Well, I never tried this one, but I have had to let some of my scents cure (by accident). I made my first candle and the scent was GREAT cold, but when I lit it (after 72 hrs), I could barely smell anything unless I was up on it and even then, it was light (even after leaving the room and coming back). I re-lit this candle almost 2 wks later and it was MUCH stronger. It was a scent blend of 3-leaf scents, so I wouldn't be opposed to allowing it to sit for a few days (eventhough I am a newbie). HTH! ETA: flightoffancy- First, I LOVE your cat (I have an orange, short-hair, fat tabby, myself)! And I have to agree that I HATE this scent as well. Something is off about it, so I think it will just sit in a box, unless I give it to someone.
  20. Well, my last two test candles didn't have any. Actually, my last three batches of test candles did not have wet spots. I use 464 and I was told not to max out the fragrance, so I use 1 oz instead of 1.5 like I did with my first candles (and it may have been more than this since I measured my oil instead of weighing it... VERY important lesson learned here!). I also understand that it is also temp sensitivity that causes them, too, but I may be wrong on this. I would LOVE to know if there is a tried and true method to avoid this, but my main battle is getting a proper wicking and MP/burn rate and stopping frost (or keeping it to a minimum). My next batch will experiment with CO to see if this helps with frost and throw in lighter scents (instead of adding lots of FO). HTH and good luck with your search! ETA: Oh, I found this: http://www.candlewic.com/candle-wax/pop-blends.asp Perhaps this will help. Wouldn't hurt to check it (them) out. Q
  21. Can you get the same results with Jojoba or Grapeseed oil? I was trying to do something without having to buy something that needs to be shipped. But I will definately keep the pointers in this thread. Thanks!
  22. Do you think you could add CO or Cocobutter and it would make a difference?
  23. Do a search on massge oil candles or lotion candles. You will find that they are not popular here (liability ans insurance issues). HTH!
