  1. Hi! I am testing this wax too (even posted my own question). I got a cheaper price for this wax at Peak, but the shipping maybe the problem. *sigh* But I noticed this too, when I burned my first larger candle (I poured the leftover into a 3-4 oz votive). I noticed that it was the wick because my 2 oz test tin burned to a full melt pool and cooled smooth, but the glass votive did not. I understand that it may be the nature of the wax and FO (I used 1.5 oz), but I also read to test the wicks. HTH and please let me know how your testing goes! I am trying not to panic over the little things (and reign in my urge to buy everything).
  2. Hi, I am not sure about suppliers (I am on the east coast), but I found that Candle Science gave suggestions on what wicks to try based on the diameter of your container. This wick guide has helped me alot when buying test supplies (I am a newbie and in testing mode). I bought C-3 as well, but am afraid to use it. So far, I love the the throw (hot and cold) of this wax, but as I have said, I am a bit afraid to try others when this one seemed very easy during my first try (done four test batches so far).
  3. Hi all! I am new to the board (lurker) and candlemaking. I have been reading up on it off and on for a few years before finally taking the plunge. Anyway, I am in the middle of testing my first 10 lb bag from Candle Science and I was wondering if you could tel me if this is normal or if I did something wrong. I used 1 lb of wax, 1.5 oz of fragrance oil (I mixed Asian Amber, Cedarwood Vanilla and Honeysuckle Jasmine), four 2 oz tins and a bunch of tealights (I poured the leftover wax in a votive glass for a candle warmer test). I let it cure for 72 hours before I burned one of the 2 oz tins. I noticed a small amount of mushrooming (very small) and the melt pool was clear, yet cloudy, like I could see the wax or oil shifting (the closest I can think of is when you see a puddle and it is clear until you disturb the dirt/sediment just enough to see the dirt shift, but not mix with the water). Should this be happening? Any advice you could give is appreciated. Many thanks!
