  1. Don't lick the batter. That would be baaaaad. Generally it is after you cut them into bars.
  2. Yup, Lin, I'd just let that puppy sit for a day or so. :highfive:
  3. You mean the shopping cart, right? If so, yes, I use Mal's and have been very happy with it.
  4. Well, with CCM (coconut milk), I've added it to the lye (or actually the other way around ) just like water, but I've also used iced CCM (putting cubes in the CCM so it gets cold - don't forget to weigh all this) and then adding lye - helps cut down on the darkening a LOT. With cream, I like to add 1 T pp at trace. Me thinks I picked up that tip from Queen Robin, actually. I lurve it.
  5. Recipe here please, too. That sounds yummy!!
  6. OMG, Pumpkin Fudge that's one I'd like to soap up. This fall weather gets me in the mood for more Pumpkin soap making... Yummm.
  7. I sold more candles scented Pumpkin Spice than I did Pumpkin Pie. I mixed two different FOs to come up with a slightly spicier mix. HTH.
  8. These are always fun threads. I usually find a couple sites I haven't seen... Here's mine: www.soapandcandlestand.com
  9. You can check out some of these: http://www.candletech.com/links/Candle_Making_Supplies/ Most of us who have been around a while have ordered from numerous suppliers before deciding which ones suit our needs, and continue to do so. What works for one person might not work for another. If you do some more reading in the forum, you'll find people naming names of many suppliers for different reasons (products, service, shipping, etc.). Welcome to the forum.
  10. We're in the process of updating those pages and take submissions on different demonstrations. Just looking at the different technique examples will give you a good idea of what we are looking for. If you're interested or would like to submit, PM or email me.
  11. Fresh Brewed Coffee From BCN. Just because it smelled exactly like coffee and I could use it in blends to make anything (cafe mocha, vanilla latte...) I tried a lot of coffee FOs and that was the only one that smelled like the real deal to me.
  12. Here's some info from the old forum: http://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Discussions;action=display;num=1100831727;start=7#7 http://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Discussions;action=display;num=1099344545;start=7#7
  13. I have paid 30+ for a FO but have since cut it out of my line. It just isn't cost-effective for me to do that. For soaping there are some 25 dollar FOs that I use, though. What I did was find the average, w/shipping on all the FOs I use and it came to 1.40/lb. So that is how I calculate my prices - by using that average.
  14. Bittercreek North (http://candlesupply.com/) has a Bubble Gum FO (smells like pink bubble gum) and a Tutti Frutti one. The Tutti Frutti smells just like Juicy Fruit.
  15. LOL. Keep talkin' that FO up and the street value of it is going to skyrocket!!
  16. You got me curious on this one as well. I haven't used liquid (except in MP).
  17. In answer to your question, you want them to burn as clean as possible, consuming as much of itself as possible. That would be my answer. So, for containers, you want a clean burn with no hang up, or very little (some people like a little hang up feeling that is safer), and as little smoking/sooting as possible. If it is scented, you want a nice throw on top of that. Now - producing a candle with those characteristics... oh the testing that ensues. Welcome to the forum.
  18. Vanilla Voodoo from CC is awesome. It does great in soap and candles. I still find myself on the search for that *perfect* vanilla, though. But that one, I distinctly remember the first time I smelled it burning going, OMG!!
  19. Well, I moved a lot of the threads that dealt w/FO over here. Thanks, though - glad it can be put to use.
  20. I use stainless steel pots. You can get them in all sizes (well nearly all). I've also started to use buckets. I picked up a bunch of them at the Dollar Store recently. They are the same as the big buckets you get bulk oils in, only smaller. They work great. I've used the ice cream buckets, but they make me nervous because they're a little flimsy.
  21. Looks divine!! I wanna see it cut, Iwannaseeitcut!!!
  22. OMG - doggies is *so* cute!! We've been wanting a dog for quite some time, but... when the time is right. Sigh. Lovely soaps, Carmen, as always
  23. Thanks guys. I just want to play with it - nowhere near to selling or anything. Sounds like it should suffice and I can dig in!!
  24. Soap Silly has one called Morning Dove. I have not soaped it yet, but it smells just like Dove OOB. http://soapsillywholesalesupplies.com/
