  1. Damn. If only I knew how to spell and use the keyboard. sorry about the prev. post.
  2. Well gsl, yhry look pretty impressive to me. Great stuff, Keep 'em comming
  3. WOW. You folks are great, thanks for all the compliments on my rustics. I'm still not totally satisfied so I'll keep working on it. I've seen some by TRISH that blow me away, ain't no way I can get close to hers but I'm gonna try. Thanks again to all. I may try some of the wax that TOPOFMURRAYHILL mentions in the future.
  4. I guess I've just seen a new challenge. Damn, I like your crackle finish. I can't believe I'm having so much fun with candles. Gotta still fo some more experi, emting with RUSTICS snd then it's on to crackles. Great stuff
  5. Thanks for all the compliments you are all too kind. As for the pin holes, I'll forget the pam next time around and see what happens
  6. I'll be watching this one very closely. In my case I even had pieces of wax left on the mold. I think it's due to mishandlimg PAM as a mold release. I'm very curious
  7. This is my three most recent rustics made with 4625 and scented Anise. You will notice the pin holes (mostly on the one on the rite) someone suggested I may have left to much PAM in the mold befor pouring. This is a possibi;ity as I do use it for mold release.
  8. Thanks for the response guys (gals). I've posted a pic called Rustic trio. You can clearly see the pin holes .
  9. Please help an old man. I'm trying desperately to get these things to look half decent and each one seems worse than the last. I'm using 4625 wax and do first pour at 145 and the following pours at 150. The first three I made were close, but now, I'm getting pin holes in the dumb things. WHY????? Also to get a bleed of one color to the next, how do I achieve that? Appreciate any and all feed back. THANKS
  10. lOOKS VERY NICE. question.... hOW DO YOU GET A WICK IN THERE NOW???? I'm new at this so I hope you don't think it's a dumb question
  11. WOW. Perfection. When I FINALLY get to produce candles as nice as those I think I'll be able to die peacfully. They are great colors
  12. Thanks gals (and guys if any). Funny you mentioned waxed wick. I"m pouring a couple as we speak. This time I pre waxed the wicks, damn things are comming loose in the molds. Hope to be able to retighten them sfter final pour (four layers, doing rustic pillars) if they turn out I'll post them. Wow, they sure are a lot of work. This is only my third attempt.
  13. I'm having a major problem with blow outs on 3" pillars. I use a #1 cotton round wick as suggested by the woman that owns the candle shop and wholesale here locally. She claims this is what she uses all the time. However, no matter how precise I am at centering the wick ( I use a ruler) they still manage to burn crooked and want to run down one side. PLEASE, any suggestions.
  14. Hi gang. I'm seeing shrink wrap metioned but it's all Dutch to me. If I were to do votives and pillars, would you still be able to smell them??? Also, would I buy tubes or bags and would I need a heat gun similar to what I have to heat molds and so on, or one of those bar sealers that I see. Further, if I were to use the baggy things then does it make the wrap all tight like a skin, with the heat gun.
  15. Heck that is the simplest thing of seen on here for ages. Only problem is, I don't understand the first thing about it. The heck with crackle candles I say. KISS (keep it simple stupid). Donita... I'm not reffering to you OK.

  17. Eugenia. you explained that method about as well as any I've seen. I've been struggling to make the PERFECT rustic and altho they aren't at the momment I think I'm getting close. I use wax #4625 so it works a little differently than yours. Unfortunately, I can't get 1343 here in Canada. MY difference is I pour at 145 as opposed to your 150.
  18. Looks really good to me. Gotta try that one day down the road.
  19. Dammit TRISH, how come your so good at those and I'm so BAD? They are gorgeous as usual. If ya ever get a bad one, send it up here to the old man in Canada eh!
  20. Man oh man. So the tall one ain't like the otheres. WHO CARES????I think they ALL look good, damn, they look like they could be hand made, whatya know about that?
  21. Hey, they look good to this good OLD Canadian boy. Keep up the great work. We can all learn from each other. I'm hooked on RUSTICS
  22. Hey Donita, great stuff, and I agree layers are fun but they take me forever to do, but what the heck, time is one thing I got lots of (I hope)
  23. Excellent rustic by a fellow Canadian. Keep the pix comming.
