  1. Thank you guys for all of your replies. You're making it sound much easier to switch. Much appreciated!!
  2. I agree. The cinnamon was almost too strong for me and I love strong scents. Maybe you have candle nose???
  3. I was just wondering if anyone had tried this. I only found one thread that matched, so I decided to ask. Thanks!
  4. Well, 4630 sinks a little too. Plus I would save $30 on shipping so I might give it a shot. Thank you all for taking the time to answer me.
  5. Thanks for the advice! The 4630 is pretty soft so I don't think that would bother me. I've just heard things like it really sinks and stuff, so that has me wondering. :undecided
  6. Right now I use 4630 and I love it. But, I make candles for a hobby and wax + shipping right now is outrageous. I have one candle supply place close to me and they only sell J223. It would save me a lot on shipping, but is it worth it? Anyone use this wax? What is it like? I would appreciate any and all opinions. Thanks and have a great day!!
  7. :undecided I just keep mine under the counter in a dark place. I never thought much about them catching on fire. But, if you think about it, they probably are not any more dangerous than your cooking oil or your household cleaners. I could be wrong, though. Would not be the first time. Sorry I could not be more help.
  8. I just made a candle with apple and maple bourbon. I think it throws well. It just seems to be a ligher type scent, but I know it is there when I walk into the room. It really reminds me of a fall carnival. P.S. Cranberry marmalade and spiced wassail throw like crazy and mulberry and juniper breeze and plumeria and almost every oil I have tried from them. I really like CS.
  9. Nope. Just afraid I could not get it even remotely close. I might have to give curve a go. Thanks for the tip.
  10. Have you guys smelled Kathina. It is my absolute favorite. The description says it is a combo of lily of the valley, citrus and rose. Sure wish I could find this one.
  11. Thank you guys so much! I will check them out!
  12. Does anyone know of any FO company who sells Tyler candle company dupes? Thanks!
  13. Hard to say if it was too hot or not. If I can't pick up the jar and hold on to it, then I think it is too hot. I bought a candle once and had it catch my kitchen counter on fire because the glass broke, so I am extra careful. Just watch it real close and you could try doing a power burn where you burn for an extreme amount of time. Watch it closely and put it on a fire safe place like the stove. Hope this helps. Have a great day!
  14. I would for sure give the wicks another try. You sound just like me when I first started. I had a picture in my head of how the wick would burn and the MP would be perfect on the first burn and it was not. I became so frustrated I tried other wicks, but I went back to the htps. As you know I use the 4630 and sometimes I think that I have underwicked only for it to get much better on the second test burn. Sometimes I think I have overwicked with a fast MP, but on the second test burn my wick almost drowns out. These wicks are a tricky business, but I would most definitely try a few test before you give up. P.S. that mushroom is just caused by the FOs and htps self trim to one side which sometimes causes a crooked MP. Mine usually even out after a while. Oh and I am realizing that a little jar hang up does not bother me because at least I know the wick I am using is not too hot. Hang in there and have fun!!
  15. The wicks I used in my jelly jars were htps. I used mostly htp 73 and htp 83s. But, I found that some of the FOs required htp 62. What I have discovered so far is that some of my spicy scents required the 83 and the lighter oils required the 62 or in between. But every oil is different and some have completely stumped me and I've had to test and test again. I did not realize when I started just how important it is to find the perfect wick, but I really think it makes or breaks the candle. All and all I still love it and this site is perfect for us newbies. There are lots of helpful people who give advice freely. So don't be afraid to ask questions. Maybe one day we can pay it forward, too. P.S. My personal opinion is the HTP wicks for the 4630. I also tried the zinc and they work good, but I think the HTP smoke less. Could just be me, though. Happy candle making!!!:smiley2:
  16. I am a newbie too and that is exactly what I did. I use 4630 and I started out using canning jars first, too. I found that with 4630 a lot of the different FO required different wicks, so I had to do a lot of testing to get it right. After all that I decided to try a square jar that is approx. 4x4. Now I am back to testing again and using lots of wax and with the cost of this stuff I wish I had started out with what I wanted to begin with. If I were you I would find a jar that I like and just order a few and for testing purposes ONLY I would reuse the jars. Be careful because reuse can weaken the glass and I watch mine quite closely. At least that way when you figured out the wick you would not have to start all over with a different sized jar. I wish I would have. Hope this helps!
  17. Those look sooo good. Great, now I'm hungry!
  18. Thank you guys for all of your suggestions. I appreciate them all and keep them coming!!
  19. Was thinking about ordering from them, but they have so many FOs to choose from that I don't even know where to begin. I would appreciate any suggestions. The more the better. Thanks for your help and time!!:smiley2:
  20. Thanks! I am not so much looking for a tropical tuberose, just a tuberose. I might give lonestar a shot.
  21. Thanks for the info. I am looking for a strong oil, nothing light. Your help is appreciated.
  22. Just wondering if anyone has tried the tropical tuberose from peaks? Thanks!
  23. I like the redwood and cedar. It is very strong and is more of a clean smell to me than a cedar. But, lots of people that smell it say they detect the cedar. It reminds me of dove soap.
  24. Thanks for the wise advice! I'm really addicted to CS as it is, and all of their oils have been stellar.
  25. I will try the 73. Thanks so much for your input!
