  1. Hi Teresa! So are you telling me that I shouln't have posted this thread? I wasn't looking for a search as I did not have any questions about the scents....I didn't ask a question in this post if you read it.....I just posted what I found was great for me...thats all... I didn't know it was wrong to put this up here...I'm new here and have to learn how to navigate on this site but was not asking for help. And yes I do know that what I may like someone else may not like but as you say "would suck" to someone else. I had heard great comments on this board and thought I would join and its truly wonderful and am enjoying it and learing so much and especially that it is an open board and you can discuss all and anything.. So where did I do wrong? I don't think I did. I think you misread my post wrong..Teresa, being that I'm new on this site, I'm bound to make mistakes and put something where it shouldn't be so I would appreciate from people who have been here awhile to tell me I should post maybe in the so and so area and I would get better results and for others to tell me where I should go for help, but your tone to me in your post I think was rather strong...and your choice of words like "countless times"....geesh was that really called for? I don't know, I'm just used to treating people with respect and think that would be the appropriate thing back....Maybe your having a bad day...I read your profile by the way and see you are into animals....So am I! 3 horses, 16 cats (talk about fostering) and 1 dog....Animals are my life...Hope you have a better day... 6. You test like I do Stella....I usually wait 48 hours...But I myself couldn't wait a week, weeks, or a month....That would drive me batty..I used to do exactly like you do; melt at 165, add uv,dye, and fragrance and then pour 140-150...My c-3 was just driving me nuts as I had major major cracks, sink holes, craters, frosting and wet spots you can believe. I was capping my c-3 candles not only once, but 2 or even maybe 3 times! And the hair dryer? Forget that cause I just got too frustrated doing that and wasn't going to spend all my time using a friggin hair dryer anymore! lol Till one day someone gave me advice on another way which I changed to and is now just about the perfect c-3 candle for me...Melt at 185,add uv,dye and fragrance and pour right at 170....and it works awesome...But......a major play that is for me, being that I live in the mountains, temperature in my house had to be warm (nice and comfortable)..If I can walk around in a tee shirt and be very comfortable (lol) my house temperate was correct....A little weird, but it was a fact for me....The only thing that I can't get down pact and it really isn't a biggy so I just have learned to deal with it, is that after my candles have set, the wax shrinks just a teeney bit from the wick..No one would probably notice it, but I do and I do cap off once....But thats soy, right? 13. I just looked at their site....Beautiful site and very different...But they don't sell jars - just make them and sell them filled with their wax....They must do very well...I was just looking at all the stores they sell to...But is a beautiful site.. Trappeur
  14. Have you seen the new jars at the Jar Store? Man they have some gorgeous jars and those new red rust lids are awesome!!! I'm hoping that my new rustic label will go with that jar and red lid..I'm ordering a sample from the Jar Store.. Has anyone seen on a few retail sites styles of new jars that are in a brown frost? I've been looking everywhere for a brown frosted jar like what I've been seeing..they are awesome.. The lantern jar just posted is pretty neat....Have to check out that site..How much are the jar? Do they offer in a 26oz. size? Trappeur
  15. Just wanted to make sure I was in the right area when posting questions...since I'm new here... If I have a wick question am I posting in the right area of general candlemaking? I couldn't find maybe an area for just wicks... Great site here!...Just want to make sure that I follow the rules.. And I'm correct in saying that you can list suppliers and all on this site too? Thanks! Trappeur
  16. Hey Stella! No not yet....I make a lot of custom furnishings, mirrors, cornice boards, etc out of birch bark, pinecones, acorns, and antler. I could put up some pictures here on this site if that is allowed probably in the off topic area...Learning to navigate around here! lol Trappeur
  17. Thanks Chev! I went to the site and I saw a lot of scents that looked great! Trappeur
  18. Hello Stella, Thankyou for responding to my post. I've been making candles since last August and sell them in my store only in the larger container - the 24oz. I don't make the small ones or even medium size ones...They just sell so great for me the larger ones and I've kept it to that...I use the 24oz. keepsake jar with a rust lid and they do beautifully for me with an htp 126 wick. I'm just looking at the possibility of trying another style jar of which I've ordered different samples of jars and just needed a starting point of a wick. My store is a very rustic adirondack home furnishings store and I have also ordered a dozen of the 16 oz paint cans with lids and handle of which I'm going to try to rust them (lol...if I can). I think they would be a very nice addition to my store and very different. I'm always looking for something different and unique to carry so that is the reason for my post for help in wick sizes. Thanks! Trappeur
  19. What were your findings? Great scent throw or just ok????.....Is 415 a soy or parrafin? Trappeur
  20. I just received my order from BCS paint can tins to make candles..they are the 16 oz. I use c-3 I use htp wicks If anyone makes these could you advise a starting point...I'll be starting with 1 htp126. I would prefer to go with 1 wick...but if I have to use 2 thats a possibilty.... Thanks. Trappeur
