  1. I found that when I was taking two supplements, arth-x-plus and beta glucan, I had 70% less trouble getting up in the morning, and also noticed that I didn't have that "ache" in my back after standing all day. Now I am out of both, and waiting for my SIL to order from the co-op, I am miserable...It takes a few days for it all to get into your system, but I can sure tell a difference when I don't take it.
  2. I don't know scented..maybe you should stand over them like a hawk, with a stick waiting to smack their knuckles...or put the bowl of them in your lap..lol. I keep mine in plastic snap lid containers (kind of like a cheap knock off of the old fashioned gallon candy jars) Nobody even opens them...maybe I should take a few out of the packages and they might buy them? Scented, out of the squeezers, even though some of them get busted (giggle, busted balls) how many do you actually sell? Maybe if you only put out a few, keep extras under the table, then as people buy them, put out more?
  3. kidsngarden, I know what you mean, nobody looked at my bath bombs at all when I took them to the market.
  4. Wow Thanks for the recipe...Teri, does it help you, I mean do you notice a real change in pain? I hate being miserable, and lord, if I spend all day on my feet in the kitchen making soap or whatever the project for the day is, I am sooo miserable the next day. Emu is definitely going on my list of things to get...just curious, does it have a whanky smell? (sorry, thinking about lanolin..lol)
  5. I use the shrink bags, then tie raffia around the top close to the bomb, I make a little tag like a card and punch a hole in it and string it up on the raffia....then I shrink the bag, while holding it by the top....I only shrink the bottom half of the bag around the ball, and keep the top kinda fluffy, gift basket like..ya know? Seems to keep them together pretty well, haven't tried to "squish" one, but I think that the partial shrinking helps.
  6. Hi everyone...sorry I'm a little emu "dumb", but I have heard so much about emu being good, but I thought it was for, like dry skin..it actually helps ease pain as in the joints? OMG....if that is true, then I need to get some too. Seriously, all my joints, fingers and toes and knees mostly, just ache constantly. It takes me so much time to get moving in the morning because of my feet. If emu will truly help I am willing to try it. Do you know of a good source to buy it from? TIA...
  7. I made some quite a while back. I do love what it does for my teeth, however, the taste leaves a lot to be desired. I don't know if it was my particular combo of oils (I think I used coconut and palm) but it tastes like soap, worse yet, don't brush your tongue with it, because your mouth will taste like varmit. :lipsrseal Yuck. So, I am going to put up with it because I think it has helped...on another note, I read somewhere that sesame oil is a good oil for the mouth...evidently, Indian (like, the kind from India, not native American) people do something called "oil pulling" where they use sesame oil every day for about 20 minutes before they brush..it is said to pull toxins from their system, mercury and lead poisoning, etc..I also heard that if you have amalgam fillings, it will loosen, and make them fall out (which, could be a good thing, if you want them gone) Then all you have to do is go to the dentist for a new, safe filling. Kinda controversial, not sure if it works or not, but thought I'd share....if anyone else knows more about if it works or not, I'd be interested.
  8. I like silky lotions too. I have avoided lotions most of my adult life simply because every one I ever tried was greasy! Now that I am, uh, older, I need something because I notice my skin is drying out more...lol I have some of the smae things you mentioned above, the silk aminos, hydrovance, dimethicone I have tons of stuff, but this is all new to me. I have been strictly a CP soap maker for years and never did anything else...now that I have a need for lotion, I want to make one that I can stand to use, and thought if I could find one that wasn't such a mutha to make I could sell it too. So far, my trials have been just that...trials..lol. The one I made today was too thick and would probably be more suited as a butter it is that thick! Anyway, if anyone knows of a recipe for this silky type lotion, I would love to try it....the one I tried today was supposed to be silky, but it was heavy, and it turned out that the silky feeling does come...after your hands have been sitting in water for about 15 to 20 minutes...now, my hands feel like I wanted them to feel when I first applied the lotion.lol
  9. I tried lotion today too for the first time. I used the recipe that was from Lotion Crafter's called silky something or other. My first problem came when I got down to the C phase of ingredients and discovered that I didn't have any of some ET51 or something like that...it is some sort of silicone dimethicone thingee. Well, I already had the other stuff going and didn't want to throw it out, so I improvised...BIG mistake. Either I didn't do something right, or I chose the wrong "substitution" or I didn't do something right..lol. This stuff was really thick, and I thought it was supposed to not feel greasy...I found that I did not like the feel of it staying on my hands, however, if you put it on then wash dishes, your hands feel smooth and siky, does that make sense? Sorry if I sound ignorant (but I am at lotions) but this is all new to me I've been searching for a recipe for a lotion that is simple, but not greasy...I have TONS of ingredients, no kidding, I have all the stuff Dana mentioned and then gobs more (don't even know why I ordered half of them...and of all things, forgot the one thing I needed for that one recipe) All I did today was succeeded in making a big mess, because the "small" test batch I was supposed to be making, exceeded capacity of a quart jar...now WHAT am I going to do with over a quart of pre-hand washing lotion? lol. **sigh** back to the drawing board.
  10. I got mine too and it is sooooo cute! I love it...can't wait to try it on an entire batch!
  11. Deb does it (Cyclo) cloud? I used distilled water and CME with FO @ 1% and it was crystal clear, although the concentration of the FO was kinda weak, IMO...I was wondering about cost effectiveness..cause this boy is in middle school, LOL..they go through A LOT of body spray! LOL
  12. very pretty! looks like a peaceful sunset!
  13. Grumpy Girl, I suspected lye heavy initially, but the strange part about it is, the crumbly stuff is only on the top where the swirling took place...the entire bottom half of the soap, is normal...that's why I was thinking maybe I used too much color. How much color do you use, GG when you use the powdered micas and oxides? Say, for a 2 cup container of soap, what would you add for color?
  14. I created mine in paintshop pro, and it gave me the option of choosing the canvas size, so I did that. I think I may have chosen the sixe too...oh well, if it's wrong, I guess I could make JUMBO bars...LOL.
  15. There's a place online called webstaurant store (or something like that) but they have pomace (9.99 a gallon) and EVOO (I think it was 16 a gallon) but you have to buy a case....they are in Pennsylvania, I think..shipping was just too much for me, but maybe some of you who live closer, it might work out for you and if you live where that place is, gosh you could pick it up and wouldn't that be a HUGE savings!
  16. I have soaped Sweet Cakes, and did not like it at all. IT was sickly sweet, IMO, and reminded me of one of those cheap car air fresheners....blechh.... I have half a bottle I am trying to figure out what to do with....I won't ever use it again alone...I may use it in with some citrus, pineapple scents and hope I can get a good tropical scent, but other than that....??
  17. I LOVE OBN...their stuff is so neatly packed, the prices are great, and they pack a lot of things in buckets, which I REALLY like! I have ordered from them for quite a long time and will continue as I know their stuff is good quality.
  18. I am going to the market on Saturday...not sure if my DH is coming home this weekend..he was supposed to, but called me today, all sad and said he didn't think he was going to make it. I miss him...but that would give me a lot more time to play with my lotion lessons and make messes in the kitchen, and feed my kids TV dinners one more week!
  19. That is what I chose. I ordered mine Friday, so maybe I Will get it next week. It looks like they charged me under $3.00 for it (postage) according to my statement! I can't wait to see it! I hope I got the size measurements right...would be my luck I'd get a 10"X12" Stamp...
  20. I have had worse problems from Orange Blossom FO...It was a nightmare! Stickblenders...I get mine from the goodwill for $4 to $5...most of them are like brand new...I find most people want one, get one, use it once, and then don't have a clue about how to clean them...which is why they end up at the goodwill! LOL
  21. Was this a markdown deal on lard? OR is it their "everyday low price"? I haven't ever used lard...well, actually, I made one batch of soap, with lard from the discount store (I got it for .50 a pound) My mom didn't like the "odd smell" of my unscented EVOO soap...so just for giggles I made a soap with lard and lye. It was crumbly...It took forever to trace, but I figured I could use it for laundry soap...oh, I think I zero SF'd it too, come to think of it because not only did my mom not like the smell of EVOO soap, she didn't like how it made your hands feel like there was something on them...! WTH? LOL...After listening to my mom tell me how she hated lye soap (because she grew up using it back 70 years ago) I figured if she tried mine she'd like it...but after her comments, I figured maybe she actually DID like that old lard soap! LOL. Anyway, those of you who use lard, do you just use it for a percent with other oils? Also, does it make your soap white? Thanks!
  22. I have always used liquid colors...I bought the powdered micas and oxides. I made one of my regular recipes, and gosh it sure was beeeee-utiful right at swirl...FO was awesome...I just knew I had a winner...but 24 hours later, the tops of the soap (where most of the swirl was) was like powder and the edges were crumbly....did I use too much color? (I would say, that to 1 cup of soap, I used 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of color powder) Yeah....that's what I thought.
  23. Too funny! Pomace OO was all I used to use, until I ran out and had to hit my stash of EVOO....You are so lucky to be close to Lou Ana..that was the first thing I thought of when I saw you were in LA. I remember back about 14 years ago, we took a vacation to visit DH family out that way....I planned our route going through Mississippi because there was a theater supply company there that sold coconut oil for $35 for a 7 gallon pail. Back 14 years ago, it wasn't as easy to find supplies as it is now...and gas wasn't almost $4.00 a gallon either! LOL
  24. I use cornmeal, calendula, and citrus EO's. I really like it, and so does everyone else. The calendula was recommended to me by a friend who is very knowledgeable in herbs, she said that it has a medicinal effect for cuts and scratches. Don't know if it is still "medicinal" after it goes through the sap process, but....it was worth a try,a dn overall, it's a very nice bar of soap. My BIL bought 15 bars of it for his shop, the guys love it!
  25. I forgot to ask bugtussle if this body spray recipe is clear. or cloudy? I won't be able to work on trying it til next week, I am getting ready for the market this weekend. But I'll let you know how mine turns out. Let me know on yours, if you make it to it before I do.
