  1. Ok well I ordered the soy 125 from candlewic.com awhile back and I thought this was just a different kind of wax. Well yesterday I got a news letter from The Candlemakers Store and looked at their wax on sale and saw it had Natural Soy 125 but then it had (415) next to it. So I emailed candlewic and asked if it was the same as 415 and they just have their own name for it. Well they emailed me back saying "yes" nothing else. :rolleyes2 Why cant they just call it one thing instead of every different supplier giving it another name. This really makes me upset. All this time I could of been looking up 415 instead of struggling along because hardly anyone on here knew my kind of wax. Well I guess I shouldnt complain I did get to make a gazillion candles. Well thanks for listening to my little rant. Antonia
  2. Thanks so much for the info. I had no idea they could pop right out, sorry. See I thought I was missing something. Well thanks so much again. Take care and I hope you do great. Antonia
  3. Ok I have a question. You said that they pay for these and you dont get them back? Sorry but I dont really understand. Why would they pay for them? They cant really do anything with them, or am I missing something? I mean it is a container wax, right, so they cant just pop it out and put in a warmer. And there is no wick for it to be burned, and also the container doesnt look like it would hold up to the heat anyways. I think this is really a great idea, and by any chance would you be willing to tell where you got the containers from? Thanks so much for clearing this up for. I havent done a fundraiser yet but I do add to my fundraiser list all the cool ideas I find on here, and this is going on it. Thanks again. Antonia
  4. here you go http://www.cierracandles.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=11&cat=Candle+Wax
  5. Wow, their wax is really expensive. I have never seen wax THAT high. Antonia
  6. I really like the one with the black lines, it reminds me of the lines in driftwood. But all of them look great. Antonia
  7. I dont use your wax or that tumbler but for that size jar I would start with a CD 10, a CD 8 might work too but to me the CD 12 seems really hot. HTH Antonia
  8. Sorry I dont know anything about the wax but wanted to let you know that Candlewic.com has a great lemongrass sage fo. It is my favorite. So if you place an order with them try it out. Antonia
  9. Well I had the same idea when I first started last November. I thought really how hard could this be and I order a 10lb slab of wax, 1 fo, and 1 pack of wicks from a supplier last year and made 8 pillars for my family, didnt even test one of them. I really thought that the wick that the supplier said would work would, but let me tell you it didnt. So I found this board and ordered a case of wax and 4 different fos and and every size CD wick I could get my hands on and tested like crazy. And finally in JUNE I was able to replace the candles to my family because I felt really bad and wanted them to have a great candle. And still almost a year later I have not sold one candle yet because I really want to make sure that I have repeat customers not just a one time sale. I really do wish you the best of luck with your business but please be careful with the product you sale because it is your neck on the line. And please God say you have insurance already. And sorry if seems like we are being really hard on you, we really are just trying to look out for you and your customers. HTH some And Grumpy Girl she could of used the 3.75 hex jars they hold about 3 oz in them and that way she could of made about 53 candles from the wax and sell them for around $6.00 each Antonia
  10. Before I was using just the regular 6% per pound. But my sister told me that she wishes they were a little stronger so right now I am trying out 7 to 8% per pound. HTH Antonia
  11. Top, Well I was just letting her know what I do and what I think is easier for me. And since I never convert my oz into lbs, it would add another step into my calculation. What I mean is for my candles I figure out how much wax I need, which is usually 10oz, and times that by how ever many candles I am going to pour. So let just say I want to do 5 candles that would be 50oz and then I would just times that by what ever percentage fo I use. So sorry if I didnt answer the way you would like but I was just giving an option I thought was the easiest since she was questioning her math to begin with. Scentsandmore, Sorry if I confused you any. I was really just trying to give you another option to look at that I found to be the easiest for me. Thanks Antonia
  12. I pretty much got what top said but mine was 1.872 How I did it was I figured you are wanting to use 7.8% FO per pound of wax so I took the 24 oz of wax and times it by 7.8% and got 1.872 So 1.9 is what I would use. HTH Antonia
  13. I dont have a wholesale account but I believe the rule is for wholesale cost you do your cost times 2 and retail would be your cost time 3, or 4 depending on your market. And by delivery charge do you mean shipping? If so I would make them pay it. And if you are talking about dropping it off maybe set a mile limit. Like say if they are 10 miles from you, you could drop it off for free and if over that charge them a fee for each mile. HTH some Antonia
  14. Well I dont use EO so I dont know if this will help you. I do use coconut oil but not for getting a better scent throw. I use coconut oil to help out with getting smoother tops in my 100% soy. I use about 1/2 to 3/4 a tsp per pound. Sorry if this doesnt help you. Antonia
  15. Ok I am sorry but I need to vent for a minute. Well as of today I still have not got the samples yet. So I called and spoke with her and she said she was very sorry that she went to the PO that day but some how they didnt get mailed out and she has it sitting right there ready to be mailed out. I just dont understand, is this how it is going to be when I order from her? Now I am not in a rush to get them, just need something by November, but I would like to get it done now. It has been almost 2 weeks now, so what has she not been to the PO in 2 weeks? This really sucks because she is the only site that I have come across and liked the hang tags, and now I have a bad taste in my mouth about this and not really sure if I want to order from her at all. Well I just feel so sick to my stomach right now thinking about having to do countless more searches to find someone else. So do you guys think I am over reacting about this? I didnt say anything to her but I am sure she could tell I was disappointed. I even offered to pay for her to mail it to me. If anyone else uses hang tags where do you guys get them from? Antonia
  16. Thanks so much. I wish they would post that on there site and not make you email them. That is a really great price, I got a free one when I got my order from NG and was going to order from them but they are about $0.25 each. Thanks again.
  17. Hey I dont know anything about glass glow but I was wondering why you double wicked the balmoral jar? This is the jar I am working on right now, the 4.5 oz and also the 16 oz. I havent finished the testing yet but I really think the CD18 (the 16 might work also, these are taking forever to finish up) is going to work on the 16oz one, which is 3 1/2 in diam. I was just wondering if you have found that single wicking these jars just dont work? And did you use any dye with the glass glow? With my soy I have found that if my wick is too hot it will discolor my dye free candles or if they are colored it will completely take the color out of part of the melted wax. But I dont know if this is why glass glow did it to you too, as I dont use it. Sorry I wasnt any help. Antonia
  18. If you dont mind me asking, what was the quote they gave you? Antonia
  19. Check out the weekly sale thread. I was just down there looking and saw that SOAPYMOMMA is having a sale on her embeds and I think it said if you order before the 30th you can get 20% off your order. Now I have never order from her but just thought you would want to check that out too. HTH Antonia
  20. I havent had a problem with them not smelling the same. I just turn my oven on warm and put the candle in there for a few minutes. And then when it is melted enough to slip out of the jar I pour it into my pouring pot and use the double boil the remelt the rest of the way and then let that sit until I am really to re pour it back into the jar that I cleaned and re-wicked. HTH and GL Antonia
  21. Ok I want to try these but right now I am not sure what to do. Ok I just got some CD wicks from TCS size 4, 5, 6, 7 and was thinking I would be able to use these for my votives and also my balmoral 4.5oz jars, which has a 2 1/2" diam. Well I think they must have labeled them wrong or something. I started with a size 5 and 6, well after 45 mins I went to check on the ST and the 5 had a complete MP about 3/4 inch deep(first burn)so I blew it out and the 6 looked good well after 2 hours it had just a slight hang up on the sides. And this happened with all 5 different FOs I poured. So yesterday I went back and melted down all the ones I used a 5 with and changed the wick to the 4 I have and I am testing some of them right now but I got to thinking that if these 4 work in this jars how are they going to work for a votive? And I dont have any 2 or 3 because I thought they were for tealights and it seems the only place I can get them from is a lady off of ebay without having the buy 3000 of them. So I was hoping that someone that uses CD wick can please let me know what they use for their votives, I have searched but the only ones I found were people who use LX wicks. The wax I used for the container candles was EL Millennium Blend with UV, coconut oil, liquid dye, 7% fo And the wax for the votive I will be using the EL votive wax. Now I know there are not a lot of people using this wax but if you use CD wicks can you please give me an idea of where to start. Thanks so much. Antonia
  22. Yeah that is what I was thinking but I have noticed that a lot of the molds cost way more than I think they should. But then again I only make container and votive candles right now, so I might just be in for a surprise if I get to that point. And this was the only one I found when I googled it, so I would go with what Daisy said and just use the flower pot as a mold. Antonia
  23. I just poured 2 different batches of candles and man they really go bad with each other. I really think I am going to have to leave the house, I already have the windows open and the a/c on but it is not moving. Has anyone else pour different candles back to back and found it to be the wrost smell ever? The two scents I just poured are NG Autumn Magic and NG Black Cherry Bomb. So it pretty much smells like spicy cough syrup in my house. Antonia
  24. Well I called her again today and left another message right after I posted this and she just called me back and said sorry for not calling me sooner and she would send them out to me today. She was really nice about it, so if anyone is looking some hang tags check out her site. Thanks Antonia
