  1. I agree with you Top, much nicer to have a proper wick, also less danger.
  2. Forget the vybar unless using very high FO. I agree that the FO can cause the cream discolouration so check first. For a white candle, you need to add white candle dye to the paraffin (Candlewic has a white liquid dye)
  3. Hi Top - I don't really like the smell anyway, which is a good thing!!
  4. It could be the pouring temp too. It happens even when the weather is warm, try pouring at 140 and 145. You always need to adjust pouring temp when the surrounding temp is different.
  5. Thanks for your replies, all, sorry for the delay. Stella, I never lidded this creature, should have though as I'm sure it'l bite:shocked2:Yes, it is from a candle fo supplier where I buy most of my fo from. It is called Antique lace. When it was first poured, I knew something was wrong as the one side looked a bit honeycombed. The one pic is after first burn and the other after the second. It looks like there are living creatures in it and the brown just appeared, there is no colour added and the tin is not rusty, it is alluminium and new. Me thinks it is most definately the fo. I sent the pics to the fo supplier and asked for an explanation, but to date all is quiet.............:tiptoe:
  6. I think you should try wick 2 sizes down. I believe that you should never have a melt pool that is too large, if not at all for the first few burns. As long as the candle burns nicely and there is not much wax left at he bottom, the jar stays cool enough, then it is pretty idiot proof but at the same time gives you a good candle.
  7. You can thank your lucky stars you aren't living in a country where you have free trade agreement with China. Every single gift store, department store, dollar shop etc EVERYWHERE has candles made in China which are not only cheap but toxic Even though our burn times are far beyond what theirs are (Im talking 50 times) there is the mentality in this country for cheap and nasty We use only top quality too. You are lucky that you have high duties on candle imports. Having lived in Europe, it is sure an eye opener when a whole population is trained to buy cheap!!
  8. Remember that everything happens for a reason and now you don't have your job (sorry to hear) you have the ideal opportunity to build your own business and be your own boss, besides you worked hard for someone else, why can't you work hard for yourself and have no boss to answer to!! Horay, heres to your future:yay:
  9. Thanks, Top. I think it is the fo because this is the first time I have tried it and there is no other explanation I can think of
  10. Worlds greatest fresh brewed coffee and creme brule are very good
  11. Like big candle companies saying that soy wax is water soluble????
  12. It is all about the money and the power. This is proven in the high statistics of obesity, cancer, death etc which was not around 100 years ago when things were plain and simple. A simple example is the quote "98% fat free" but nowhere does it mention that the sugar content is 50% which becomes fat anway!!
  13. Why are you so concerned about gmo wax? You are not eating it so why worry if it is genetically modified? How many people eat seedless grapes for example and this is food? Don't you think they are genetically modified, since when has a grape not had seeds as a natural thing??
  14. I used the same wax as I always do and made this at the same time as all my other testers. Check this out!!!!!!!! it is so scary, do you think the FO is the cause? I am shocked to say the least.
  15. Have you ever compared your roast lamb to the cleanup of a soy candle? It is certainely not water soluble because when the substances are cold the wax forms on top of the wax. I really cant understand why companies say that soy wax is water soluble when it clearly is NOT
  16. Paraffin wax comes in various grades. Fully refined is good and burns very nicely. There is a hype about paraffin wax but there is nothing wrong with it if it is good grade. Makes very nice candles
  17. Stunning. Do they take long to make?
  18. How many are you able to wick up yourself without any help? How many of those boxes would you get through in a normal working day? NOT our kind of working day which includes eating lunch while working, starting and ending late in the day, etc
  19. The supplier that top mentioned has instructions on basic candlemaking tiips as well, I think
  20. omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
