  1. Well I received the Fillmore Christmas Tree and made some candles. I might have candle nose but OOB I think it smells just like CS's Mistletoe...except maybe there's a note of something in Mistletoe that's more sharp. How long do you suggest curing before testing Christmas Tree? I typically only wait a couple of days and figure if it doesn't throw decent then I need to move on because my process doesn't allow much curing time. Thx!
  2. Thank you....I'll check Nature's Garden, I use them anyway.
  3. Just went to order Spiced Wassail from Backwoods and was told it's no longer sold because the supplier to them went out of business. Anyone know of a replacement. I used to get it from CS and they no longer carry it either. Thx
  4. Thank you, just went ahead an ordered both Christmas Tree and Clove. I'm also a big fan of CS's Mistletoe and sell alot of it but I want more of a Balsam so appreciate your post very much. Also Fillmore is one of my suppliers so it makes even more sense. Have a great day! Brenda
  5. Question about Fillmore's Christmas Tree. I looked back at my notes because I remembering ordering a sample and had noted that OOB, it didn't smell realistic. I don't think I ever put it in wax and now can't find the sample. So tell me, does the OOB scent not do it justice. Trappeur, like you, I use C3 so I'd love to find a good Balsam, Pine that throws good in this wax. Also any insight on their Clove would be appreciated as well. Thx!
  6. I know I agree....sign of the times. I also read their claim to fame was that they only used all soy.....the machinery must heat the wax just enough to keep it moving. I've burned their candles and they did get the frost line after burning like mine and many soy candles.
  7. This might be old news but I'm just seeing now so thought I would post. The photo is interesting in that the wax is almost setting as being poured. http://wcfcourier.com/business/local/new-hampton-candle-factory-soy-basics-to-close-july/article_ce2d839b-0eae-59f4-8410-974d14d6bd05.html
  8. Thx for the info. Hate to add another supplier but it sounds like Aztec might be a good one. I think it was an archipelago tobacco candle I liked.
  9. My first tobacco scent of any kind so wasn't sure what to expect but I don't detect anything that smells like grandpa's pipe....more floral with a citrus note
  10. Ordered a sample, will let you know when I get it.
  11. Anyone tried it in soy.....if so, how does it perform and can you describe the scent. Thx
  12. Just got off the phone....said the owner if Deepak someone that used to own IFT....they have a 10lb minimum and will also duplicate. HTH
  13. Oh that's a good idea about leaving them 2" from the top. I have some LX wicks.....I'll try those while I'm waiting for the others to arrive. Thank you!!
  14. Hi Chris: Thanks for the input. Not making pillars....pouring in a pottery crock 5" diameter width. So far while the 3 wood wicks burned kind of quick they gave the best throw...also tried one large wood wick and while the flame was great, didn't get across the width. Still waiting on some citronella wicks and zinc's...
  15. So I'm trying to wick a 5" diameter pottery crock with c3 and citronella from NG. I've started with wood wicks but I don't think they are going to hold up with any wind. So far I tried 3-WW3's and got a full MP in an hour and blew out a couple of times, so went down to 3-WW2's and it's def burning slowly but the flames are weak and the throw is too and I'm sure they won't hold up to a slight breeze. What kind of wick should I be using....tried to find citronella wicks but not having much luck searching any of the usual candle suppliers except at the big wick places where you have to purchase 5000-10,000....also ordered some larger zinc's to see how they work. Would love some feedback since this is my first attempt at making a patio candle and not sure how big of a flame it should have....should I be tripling wicking or using one citronella wick. Thx for the help
  16. Their sales rep called and left me a voice message....just wanted to see if there was any feedback before calling them but I'll go ahead and post what I find. Thx Brenda
  17. Anyone have feedback on this company and how their FO's rate especially in soy wax... Thank you,
  18. Anyone have a supplier for the black or nickel primitive lids. The quality of the vendor I've been using has gone downhill and I'm trying to find another vendor. The Jar Store has some but they are very narrow. Any other suppliers? Thanks
  19. Since Candlescience is no longer carrying TL28 and TL31 I'm looking for feedback on what C3 users have found worked best. Previously I would use TL28 on the lighter scents or unscented and TL31 on the heavier. This worked really well but now they've replaced them with ECO .75 and ECO 1......I've been testing the ECO's and they seem to burn a little hot for the plastic tealight containers.... So before I custom order the TL's from Candlewic, wondering if anyone has found a good Tea Light wick for straight soy for scented/unscented. Thx
  20. One of my customers inquired about these. Anyone wick such shallow tins? It seems like it would be a torch with a wood wick or traditional....thoughts? These are 4oz and I found the tins available at containers and packaging. http://simplycurated.com/products/travel-candle Thanks!
  21. They sent me some samples and their Pumpkin Pecan Waffles was really good but the rest were light....I use straight soy. I ordered the PPW from Fragrance Buddy.....they said it was the same as AFI.....it from what I can tell it is.....didn't smell alot of pumpkin in either but love the scent. HTH
  22. Thanks Barbara....I guess I will stick with the name then....maybe use BW's Description and refer to it as GIT's Cousin.
  23. I purchased BW's Black Irish and I love it but I'm not sure if I want to keep the name and wonder if it's similar to Green Irish Tweed. If so, I'd rename it to that because I think it would be more popular and customers would know what it smelled like. If you've sniffed both, please help me out. Thx Brenda
  24. Have you found the Ball Anniv Blue Mason Jars in the 8 oz size? If so, please share where? I've found the 16oz but would prefer the 8oz... Thank you!!
