  1. I do have my handmade products but, I do dropship candle making supplies from gelluminations. I repeat. Everything listed on my site is handmade, by me except for the things you can acess by clicking on the crafting supplies button. The candles, lotion, soap, and all the other things like this are made by me.

    Are you really 16?

Boy you have alot of time :o

  2. actually am I blind I don't see where to sign up for your newsletter on your website

I have read(marketing books) they say it is best to mention the join email list in as many places as you can on the website. that tends to make people more likely to sign up

I know I need to work on that on my site

    Ya you are :P

Its the BIG BOX on the bottom of the homepage lol

  3. I have a craft show this weekend in the same town I had one last weekend. It is 30 miles from me. I want to offer my return customers an incentive. I have a few addresses from those who signed up for my last gift basket and plan to send them a special offer. I'm leaning toward either a free tart for each purchase or 10% off their purchase if they return to make a purchase. Any opinions on that?

Also, I have a lot of traffic to my website, but no sales. What is wrong with me or my site? www.texascandlefactory.net. Any constructive ideas or criticism appreciated. I want my site to be user friendly and attractive. TIA

Dont worry about the traffic and no sales thing. Its normal :). Most people use your site to find/contact you.

  4. Wholesale Supplies Plus has a good one. I bought a sample bottle and soaped it in a layered soap with their Dirt F/O. It came out awesome.

Okay I know peeps like weird stuff, but ewwwwww lol!! Arent we supposed to wash the dirt and grass off?

Kinda like the people who like my Bacon candle!

    I diddo Peaks :)

  5. I looked through my bookmarks... found this

    http://soapmakingbusiness.com/Handmade_Soap_Displays/Floor_Displays.html

Maybe you have someone handy who can look at it and duplicate a table top model. I would offer my hubby's services (oh-he-who-can-look-at- something-and-build-it-for-me) but alas, he is booked up (with me) till 2054.

LOL!! See my show is next weekend, and hubby was supposed to be on vacation next week, and was going to make a display for me. But due to things at work he has to work now, and I am stuck finding a display stat! Alas he might have to make them still, but I need a plan if things dont work out (which they rarely do lol)

    Thanks all keep them coming!!

  6. This won't angle em towards the customer, but I have always loved the look of votives in the big ole old fashioned candy jars. I have even seen some replicas at wally world. You could fill them, put a cute label on the outside and then keep extras under the table. Does that make any sense?? lol...I don't do stand alone votives (just pour mine in the flowerpots and sell them) so alas, no picture. :P

I know exactly what you mean!! I wanted to do this too, so they could just open a grab. Only thing was they are big and bulky. Do you think they would take up too much room?

The ones I am thinking of are the ones are kinda like these, too big? : Of course I would need like 24 of these things :(

  7. Ok I need help. (Ya Ya Hawaiian, we all know I need help-lol)

Seriously though, I am a creative goof. Here is my dillema, I have votives that I display on my riser in 4's according to fragrance. However biz is boomin and 4 per scent is not enough, So I need to find a way to put more out without using more room. (Space is limited) I am trying to get a pic of what it looks like now.

I am thinking something along the lines of little bins or something, to put more votives, and something I can angle toward the customer. But I have no idea what to use as a riser.

If you have pics I would LOVE to see them. Thanks :yay:

  8. HA dont worry about his customers. If he is slapping a label OVER MB's the customers will notice the fraud when they burn the candles down. DUH, the other sticker will

    A. Show through when lit from the inside

    B. Be seen from the inside when it burns down.

DUH!!! LOL. He'll be seen as the fraud he is!

    Report him though, I would!

  9. Well we finally poured our first hope to be sellable batch!!

Our Misty Creek 16Bar mold had her maiden voyage in the following:

    Cool Water (LSCS)-No seize

Fruit Slices (Peak) - No seize

Eucalyptus & Green Tea (Peak) - No seize

    Plumeria (Peak) - Slight Seize

Still playing with my oxides so the cool water was supposed to be a light blue with dark blue swirl, but the light blue came out more like a gray. So with the light blue swirl it actually did not look too bad. We'll see when we cut. Definately masculine though.

Fruit Slices my partner got skerd and just made a straight orange bar (would have looked great with a red swirl)

    Plumeria just a straight burgandy

the GreenTea/Eucalyptus was the last so it traced a bit so I really could not play with the color. Tried for a green but I think it still looked too yellowish from the oils.

Is there any way to make the yellowish tint of my soap look more "White"?

All in all They all look smooth when in the mold, everything went well! I cannot wait to cut these babies!!! Thanks!!!

  10. They are all different sizes. The important thing is you want to make sure that if you are using them as molds, to make sure you are selling the exact same cup as your mold or the votive may not properly fit in the cup.

The "standard" size are the Crisa brand Flower Pot Votive Holders. You can get them from Hobby Lobby. Sad thing is, no one else carries that exact mold. It is more wide at the base so any other cups are to narrow and the votive won't go in. I believe it is a 4oz FP holder. The other (the wally world ones), the Jo ann one and the Graden Ridge ones (oh and the BC's too) are narrower.

If you are just pouring them and selling them as "containers" you don't really have to worry about them fitting in specific holders just be sure they hold the same amount of wax. :D

  11. I just checked a few weeks ago and the shipping for the box of 250 is now over $9. From $5.25 (what I paid last year) it seems like a big jump. But since the cards are "free" I guess it's still not too bad.

Wow! I ordered about a month ago. That was shipping to TX of course. You know though I never order just one box. That could be why too, more you order more you save on shipping.

  12. I am not having much luck finding these at a good price. I like the Natures Garden ones but they are expensive! I mean they jack my whoesale prices to an almost retail level.

i found anothe site that has them at a decent price, but looks like they are going to discontinue. This particular supplier does look kind of small potatoes too IMO.

So any other ideas on who might have these?

Chemistry store had them but they were HDPE not clear. SkS and Freud do not have them. Getting desperate here!

  13. I have never had a problem with them. Especially not with fraudulent charges.

There is a BIG difference between fraudelent charges and people who cannot read. Yeah they do try to get you to buy the "accessories" but all in all YOU should be the one reading your final invoice. Especially to make sure you did not accidentally click on the other specials.

They did have a promotion after you processed your card that was a seperate window for a seperate company. Some kind of order within the next 5 min deal. But yeah I read the fine print (think it was that rewards program)

Inflated shipping? Funny I have never noticed this. I orderfrom themall the time. I usually order 1000 biz cards and the shipping is no more than 7 bucks and goes out DHL. Does not seem unreasonable to me. :o

  14. Ok another question. On the 16-Bar Mold, Aimee told us 5-6# but I have seen mentioned throught other threads that that yields a way total big bar. How many # do you typicaly do for the 16? I was thinking maybe 5# for a bar that is 1 1/4" Definatley not quite 11/2". What would you suggest?

  15. Jovianne (my partner) and I Finally got our mold last week. Have not poured it yet can ya believe it!! Hopefully going to do it this week!!

Very nice mold. We ordered the 16 bar kit.

Okay question for those of you that have this.

We are usuing kraft soap boxes for ours, and I have noticed that mold looks to make a pretty large bar, so those of you who use boxes, do you have to order a larger size box?

Also dies the lid that comes with the mold prevent the ashing on top of the soap? When I used my log mold I always had ash but it was easy to cut off the tops. I am thinking the lids prevents this?
