  1. Aw, geez - lol - I just looked at the Elements website, and it's great, and I have no money. Talk about a mixed blessing. :rolleyes2
  2. Both of your labels look marvelous to me! :highfive:
  3. Go, CBE! Go, CBE! It's yer soap day! Go, CBE! Or something like that. I like the way these turned out. Bet they smell too yummy. Jeri
  4. Mm. So I'm thinking in the long run it's preferable to go with a twist-up, whatever variety, and if need be dress it up with a label like Bethany says. No matter how nice the lotion is, if I get aggravated whenever I try to use it, I won't enjoy it. Cheers, Jeri
  5. My friend uses my bombs & salts in her jacuzzi tub all the time. Mind you, she makes sure to clean it out thoroughly, and I have no idea what might be happening to the plumbing behind the scenes, but she hasn't had any problems so far. She also uses my solid bubble bath, and I truly wish I'd been there the first time. She said it was like an episode of "I Love Lucy" - a neverending tidal wave of bubbles.
  6. Weell, just throwing it out there. Can't wait to see the blue granite. Is this one a salt bar, that made those little bloom effects?
  7. :highfive: Stunning. Amazing. Wowzer. You are one freaking talented artist. Ever thought of doing a slide show on your coloring techniques? Seriously! Jeri
  8. Keep on keepin on! So far, my biggest successes have been the ones I just went "Meh!" over when I cut them. Jeri
  9. Yah, I intended to go equal parts oil/salt, but the salt pile was getting so big when I was weighing it I chickened out - even though I knew better. I won't give up on them - it does sound like the DSS was at fault. Thanks for the encouragement! j
  10. Hmm, true enough. I've only ever sent it out in molded form. Heat seal? Vacuum sealing might act like a mold & compress it into a brick. Silica gel packets? I guess you could just add a blurb along the lines of "Changes in temp & humidity may cause product to harden. You can crush any clumps without loss of effectivenes." Might seem like a cop-out, but at least you're covered. Sorry, I got nothing. jeri
  11. Thanks, P&V - I like those too, but at .2-.3 oz they're too small for an overall lotion stick, at least for my tastes. I do have them bookmarked for when I make a stick that's more to use as perfume - like with the really expensive floral waxes and absolutes. Those would be especially nice for that. Cheers! :)
  12. OMG, Jami Thank you SO much for this link! I bought a lotion stick in Victoria, BC, a couple of years ago that was in just this container, loved it, and have been searching for it ever since to make my own. I'd despaired of ever finding it! I just ordered a bunch right now (and they happened to be on sale, too). :yay:
  13. lol - good ol' salad shooters. I'm not sure I've ever heard of anyone actually using those things for food.
  14. Wow, that looks tres cool! What a great effect, not to mention a fine argument for coughing up the cash & investing in a good planer Do you just add the shavings at trace like any other additive? How do you keep them from globbing together? Jeri
  15. Looks good - I like your presentation very much, too.
  16. Well done you - that looks great! :highfive: Wow, first batch is that nice, you're a natural.
  17. Does anyone have a preference as to push-up tubes vs twist-up tubes for lotion sticks? If you sell them, is one type more popular than the other? To me, the push-ups sometimes feel like the product might fall out (in fact, it has), and there's all that empty space visible in the lid area. But they hold a bit more, are prettier, and it's easier to get at that last little bit of lotion. The twistups are more secure, but they're smaller and kind of blah-looking. I've also been known to stab myself on the screw-spike, but that's just me being a dork.
  18. I keep a big bag of my basic bomb dry mix - soda, citric & corn starch, and sometimes it gets hard. Try sifting it through a largeish strainer into a bowl - rub the hard bits against the mesh to crumble it through. Hopefully it's not too cement-like to work. I don't know if perhaps the epsom salts had something to do with it? Good luck!
  19. Jadryga, I've had the same chain of thought! I've had real success making my own vanilla extract by letting vanilla beans soak in vodka for 5-6 months, and I've been wondering if almond extract could be done the same way - messier, I suppose, since they'd need to be pulverized. But if it is possible, cocoa and coffee probably would work too. I guess if it didn't work as an extract, we could always drink it.
  20. Those look wonderful! Can't wait to try it. . .
  21. Thanks for the feedback, friends. Yah, I used Dead Sea Salts - guess the operative word here is "dead," huh? I'll know way better from now on. Dirtybird, my recipe was 70% CO, 5% Crisco, 10% almond, 10% RBO, 5% shea butter - just a total of 16oz oils, and added 12 oz salts. Did CPOP, & cured a couple days shy of 4 wks before I tried them. Hey, at least they're pretty, and they make decent room fresheners for now. Cheers, all. :smiley2: Jeri
  22. Yikes! I guess not. I can't deal with that scarey-looking clown eyeing me on the first page. :embarasse :embarasse :embarasse
