  1. Wow, it was a lot of fun going through the SW fragrances. I ordered; Blue Sugar, (OMG, that pic is nice looking!) Dragon's Blood, Frankincense, Mayan Gold, Rebellious, Sex on the Beach, Stress Relief, Tonic, Tupelo Honey. I got a mixture of both 8 & 16 oz. Now, if I can just stay away from the SW website until the sale if over. There was many others that I would have liked. Shannon Sleeping Waters
  2. I have been very happy with Lindsay from Soapers Workshop. She is great to work with. If you would like an additive that is not on her website, just ask her about it. I'm sure she would get it for you. What I really like about her bases, is that it is condensed, so you can deside how think or thin you would like it. The shipping is also less because of it. Though I do agree there is a certain amount of pride in making my own, and some day down the road I may. But for now, with the limited amount of time I have, and the many other products that I do make, and that I am still testing, if I did not use Lindsay's base, I would not be able to offer my clients any lotion at all. I really value the time that Lindsay has put into testing and perfecting her products. Shannon Sleeping Waters A Bath & Body Co.
  3. Hi, I have bought salt from both Salt Works, and Zenith. For me, I did not notice any difference. To be honest, my first impression was that Zenith bought their salt from Salt Works. As for customer service, I think both are very good. I can not tell you about shipping, as I live close enough to drive to both. Shannon Sleeping Waters
  4. Thank you so much. I was getting ready to order one online for 99.95 plus shipping. I will try Walmart first. Shannon
  5. PM'd you. Have fun, Shannon
  6. Thank you so much! Those are just what I am looking for. I thought that I had seen them, but could not remember where. Thanks again, Shannon
  7. Hi Everyone, I am looking for 1 oz pump treatment bottles. Any idea where I can find them. I prefer them with a white pump. They are for facial serums. Thanks for any info. Shannon Barr Sleeping Waters
  8. I have also ordered my from Lotioncrafters. Their shipping is super fast. Shannon
  9. I use white dome lids. I am also looking for 1 oz treatment bottles with a white pmp, if anyone knows where to find them, I would really appreciate it if you would let me know. Thanks Shannon
  10. If I was given this opportunity I would jump on it in a heart beat. It is right in line with the good craft shows, (they charge $45 + 20% for 4 days). With my other business, (I design and custom make horse show clothing) I usually pay between $100 - $250 for my booth for a 3-4 day show. Then I have to do a lot of work setting up and taking down. I also have to collect my own taxes as well as the rest of the money. Not having to work there is a great bonus. Just think of all of the extra time it would take to do that. If you break it down, $125 per month is just over $4 per day. It would cost me more in gas just to drive there each day if I had to work there, and the 20%-25% is just the cost of overhead, rent, employee salary, electricity, phone, credit card fees, ect. Your products will also get great exposure, where you would not normally get it. Shannon
  11. Lindsay with Soapers Workshop has a great lotion base. She can fit 3 gallons of condensed (sp?) base in a flat rate shipping box. All you have to do is add the amount of distilled water and FO and your done. She also does Lip Balm bases as well as kits. Shannon
  12. I love the flavors that Lindsay of Soapers Workshop has. She currently only has 5, but they are great. My favorite, and best seller is the Pomegranite. Shannon
  13. I would like to thank everyone for their time helping me come up with a name for my new business. I especially want to thank So-Soy for coming up with the name. So here is it.............Sleeping Waters. The more I think of the name, the more I love it. I live in Snohomish County, Washington, near the Snohomish River. There once was a tribe of Snohomish Indians here, and the name Snohomish means Sleeping Waters. I am also very proud to be 1/4 Native American Indian (Cherokee & Creek), and I love the area I live in. So the name is just perfect. It also has given me many ideas to focus on such as having more earthy, watery scents, and local fruits, and floral scents. Then again, I am so addicted to tropical flowery scents, but at least it is a guideline. Thanks again, Shannon
  14. I think that people everywhere are just a little bit more careful in their spending at the moment. With the cost of gas being one of the reasons. Around here (Seattle) gas averages $3.46 a gallon for unleaded. In fact, I just told my husband that I think that we should get a car for me to drive around on the weekdays since my truck only gets about 8 mpg. The savings in gas will pay for the car payments. I set up a booth at horse shows most weekends with my custom horse show clothing, and have been told by other vendors that they are not selling anywhere near what they usually do. I have been very lucky that I am having a record breaking year, though I do have a very loyal customer base that has just really grown this year. In fact, I have had to cancel shows for the next month so I can get caught up with my orders. One of the reasons I think that I am so busy is that I really strive to make a high quality product. There is another vendor in my area whose clothing is very poor quality, and cheap, that usually people will order from her once, then they come to me next time. My customers know that I am not cheap, but do know that they will get a great product in a timely manner. Even though I have been doing custom clothing for 15 years, I think there is still a lot for me to learn, so I took some classes last year at the New York Fashion Academy. It was very expensive ($2200. for 3 months) but I did learn a few things, which I think are reflected in my clothing. So never stop learning, and do the best job you can. People do remember poor quality work, and the word does get around. Customer service is also very important. People gravitate to happy, smiling, energenic people who pay attention to them, then someone who may look grumpy, tired, or have their nose in a book. Though I will say that I do bring a horse magazine or 2 with me to read if I am bored, but put them down as soon as someone comes in my booth. Also, I try to remember to bring a bowl of candy, and a small garbage can so people do take the time to open the candy and put the wrappers in the garbage. At the same time that they are doing this, they are looking over my products. And I feel that the candy puts them more in the mood to buy something. This is a couple things that works for me. I hope that there might be an idea or two that you can use. Good Luck, Shannon
  15. My husband knows better. He never makes plans that include me without talking to me first. In fact, no one ever asks my husband they usually just call me. Even his secretary calls me to let me know when the company parties ect are so I can put it in my calendar. My husband has to make a lot of important decisions at work, but leaves all of the ones at home for me. With having 3 very busy daughters (only one left at home now) we were usually out of town at horse show, or softball games ect, and I was the one taking them, while my husband was home taking care of all of the animals. Good luck, and relax. You will find that if you get too stressed that you will not be able to get as much done, and then when you get to the show you will wonder why you were so stressed to begin with. Take care, Shannon
  16. It looks great! I really like your soap packaging. Take care, Shannon
  17. I am sorry that some of you have not had good shows lately. Hopefully it will get better soon. Take care, Shannon
  18. Hey, it looks like a great start! I hope all goes well for you. Take care, Shannon
  19. Hi Everyone, Thanks for the great suggestions! So Soy, I love both of your names, The Soap Barr, and Sleeping Waters. With The Soap Barr, positives are: it is cute, simple, and easy to remember. Negitives; someone already has the domain name The Soap Bar, so will my clients remember to add the second "r" or will they go to the wrong site, and is the name too limiting, and does it reflect a high end product? With Sleeping Waters, it is indeed very calming, and relaxing. It also does reflect my geographical area, but very few people would know that Snohomish means Sleeping Waters, including myself. I could as Lindsay suggested and use Sleeping Waters as my business name, and use a tag line in my logo like "a spa experience", or "a bath and body company" ect. Also, it is not limiting so that if I wanted to later add candles all I would have to do is change the tag line, but not the name. Also, I would like to apologize for taking so long to thank you for your ideas. Yesterday, I had the best day with my daughter. I really miss her. She moved out 2 months ago, so I have been only seeing her about twice a week. We are so much alike in many ways, and like the same things. We used to sit for at least an hour each day and just talk about life. Anyhow yesterday she took me to our favorite Sushi place (Todais), then we hit a couple farmers markets and a craft show on the way home. And of course we had some time afterwords to have our talk. So I hope that you all are having a great Mothers Day, Shannon
  20. Hi Everyone, I am new to this group, (thanks to Lindsay from Soapers Workshop.) Anyhow, I would like some help finding a business name. I just have no imagination with naming my business at all. I just started selling my soaps and B&B products (after 3 yrs as a hobby). So far I have been using my other business name (Show Offs by Shannon, I custom design and make horse show clothing), but I would like a different one for my soaps, B&B items. Since most of my customers are in a higher tax bracket, and my daughter works in a high end spa, I would love a name that reflects that. I live near the Snohomish River, but that does not have to be in the name. I would really appreciate any ideas you have to offer. Thank you very much in advance, Shannon Barr
  21. For me it is a little hard to read. Shannon
