Thanks for the confirmation about this wax. I'm out of it now, thankfully, so I'll either look for a supplier with slabs or try another pillar wax. It's a shame that it misbehaves because those pellets were awfully convenient to work with!

This could be entirely my imagination since I'm new to candlemaking, but it seems that I'm not able to get the same texture on rustics with 1343 pellets. The pellet was is more ripply--don't quite know how to describe it. Also, the darker colors (browns, mahogany, in particular) don't seems to have the soft effect that I was getting with the slab. Is this crazy? As I said, I'm new but I'm keeping notes and have been able to get some consistency until this new wax was thrown into the mix.

Fern and others, I'm a newbie, and this week I have already felt the first bite of addiction. I stayed up last night making a list of everything I want to try, things I need to buy, etc. In fact, I haven't posted much because I've been busy catering to my new addiction. But hey--it's better than lots of other vices! This board and all of you are treasures!

Yes, I am brand new to both the site and candle-making. In fact, my niece and I are going to try to learn together. We ordered a few things that have just arrived, and we're planning to pour our first candles tomorrow. I expect it will be awhile before we have anything as nice as yours to photograph!
