  1. I'm pretty sure ELM stands for enchanted lites millennium...
  2. Sometimes you get what you pay for... I sure don't mind spending $20/pound for FO because I know that it's quality oil. I won't have to use 12% of it, and the fragrance will be complex and consistent. I guess if I didn't care so much about the quality of my candle, I'd just get the cheaper oil. That's just me though....
  3. Have you tried celtic moonspice at RE/AH? It's great. MC's is good too, but I like the celtic moonspice better. CarolK will jump in, she's the MC expert...
  4. If you want something ready to go in less than two weeks, best of luck. Liquid dye is the only thing that works, as far as I know. I've never had liquid dye leave specks, just chips or blocks. Sometimes, I think the best thing to do is be honest and tell a potential buyer that you simply can't have a candle fully prepared and tested in a short time frame. There is a heart breaking post in the off-topic section about a friend of a chandler leaving a candle burning and a subsequent fire. This hobby/business of ours is serious... and should be taken as such.
  5. I tested the 6006 and didn't really like it. I'm not a paraffin basher by any means, but this wax is more paraffin than soy. I like more soy than paraffin, but that's just my personal preference. Not much help, am I?
  6. I think that some FO can't be shipped priority due to flash points. I thought a supplier was ignoring me, actually sent an angry'ish e-mail and THEN rememberd to check my spam folder. There sat 3 e-mails from the supplier. I sure had to apologize profusely! And, this supplier also said that for some reason, shipping to Texas was difficult for them. I agree with Scented... give them a call. Or, if they are on this board, shoot them a PM. Perhaps there is a logical explanation. If there isn't, then PLEASE let us know! Always good to know which companies are lacking on customer service... thank you for sharing your experience!
  7. Under 6" is good... Actually, I think it has to do with heat. Too big of a flame, too hot of a jar and *BOOM* Instead of flame height, I check jar temp. JMO...
  8. NG is one of the LEAST expensive suppliers for FO. Their FO, for me, is more hit than miss... but I've found myself straying farther and farther from them as I've discovered other outstanding suppliers. Goes back to the old adage... you get what you pay for... and Vicky said it best.
  9. Use liquid dye, pour a drop or two into your pour pot right before you pour into your container. It will swirl as it fills the container. Some have said to give it a swirl with a spoon or whatever you use to mix FO, but I just let it swirl as I pour it into the container. ETA: the candle looks pretty bad after it's burned because the swirl doesn't last. Sooo... you have colored wax from your melt pool sitting on top of swirl.
  10. go straight to the corner for being an enabler! And today is pay day too... sheesh, there goes my grocery fund...
  11. I'm not sure if you were asking, but C&D means cease and desisit. Many companies who have a fragrance that is made for them have the name trademarked. If it's trademarked, you can't use it and MUST rename it. I like Di's idea of naming her scents as her own. Great strategy...
  12. Candle Science has the truest strawberry ever. Second choice for soy would be a tie between Millcreek Strawberry Jam and KY strawberry rhubarb.
  13. Munch... I just gotta say... you crack me up! You have the best attitude about things...
  14. no, it would not be a good investment
  15. Candle Science is a terrific company. I have yet to find a FO that doesn't work well for me, but I do honor their soy rating system. Their wick guide is very helpful as well.
  16. Adding that her gel pie pics look the same... I could go on if you'd like, but I think your problems aren't completely solved...
  17. Umm... I just clicked both sites and her beeswax candle pics are almost the same as yours, Sherri...
  18. Candle Science is my favorite supplier... and close enough for me to drive there!
  19. Med. Fig, Lovespell, cranberry marmalade, wildberry mousse, peach, strawberry, violet lime, banana nut bread, honeysuckle jasmine, hansel and gretel's house, golden rose, honeysuckle jasmine, blueberry cobbler and rain water come to mind. They are one of my favorite suppliers.
  20. I was told that they will be re-opening registrations in another week or so.
  21. I, too, used to resist the double wick. I have since learned to embrace it. It really does make things so much simpler and smoother...
  22. Since I've been addressed for making a comment about someone being 'mean' I will address it. Firstly, someone ASSUMES I'm a newbie because I have a wax drip. I was actually a member of the old CT board and have been making candles and dabbling in bath and body since 1998. Does this mean I'm experienced enough to sell? Do I pass ya'lls experience timeline? It doesn't matter because I don't sell candles. This is a hobby for me. My point is this: I was raised by my grandparents and this has perhaps given me some old fashioned morals. I was taught that if you don't have anything nice or constructive to say, then keep your damn mouth shut. If I posted tomorrow that I have a website and would anyone check it out, everyone would jump on me because according to my rating here, I'm a wax drip and many would assume that I'm an inexperienced chandler. Such is not the case. And THAT is why I hesitated to post on this board. Some of you do put people on the defensive and make them want to send you all of their notes just to prove to you that they might have a clue. As I recall, Miss Mary asked for website criticism, not a critique of her experience. The old CT board was NOT like this. It was actually a community of helpful people.
  23. Whew.... there are some people on this board who can be downright mean if you don't fit into their perceived perfect timeline! I hesitated to begin posting on this board for just that reason. Congrats on your website! I wish you the best of luck!
