  1. This mold holds 3 lbs, correct? How many bars do you cut out of this soap log? I used my new mold for the first time yesterday and went out and bought one of those wavy cutters today at a local restaurant supply store, but before I mutilate what looks like it might be some pretty soap, I thought I'd better ask how many bars I should expect to get out of this! TIA!
  2. Thank you!!! I'll try 1 1/4 oz pp for some tarts!
  3. IwantItGreen~ Thanks for your reply! I am very mathematically challenged, so can you tell me what that 7% means in ounces! lol! Thanks!
  4. I was wondering.....how many oz of FO do you use pp of wax? Reason I'm asking is Peaks enclosed a slip of paper saying that their oils are tested to perform well at 1/2 oz pp of wax, and for highly scented candles, you may use up to 1 oz pp. I always use 1&1/2 oz of FO (from other suppliers) pp of soywax so that threw me for a loop! Does anyone use only 1/2 oz of Peaks FO's pp of wax?
  5. Thank you so much everyone! These all sound so great!
  6. What is your favorite/best seller cinnamon fo? I have seen this question asked from time to time and no one has ever suggested a straight cinnamon... I'm not necessarily looking for a straight cinnamon but want the cinnamon to be the prominent note! Also, which mulled cider have you found to be your favorite? Thanks so much for your help! Lorraine
  7. Thanks so much Wendy! I will go ahead and mix them:yay:
  8. I just wanted to say that this soap is not going to be sold.......... I do not sell anything I make, it's just for myself, family and friends :smiley2:
  9. Would it be okay to have the embeds made out of one base and do your over-pour with a different company's base??? I'm not happy with the way my soap turned out and I'm out of that particular soap base. I have plenty of the sfic shaving base and I'm hoping I can use that to re-do the bars??? Thanks for your help!
  10. OMG! Your soap is absolutely amazing! I LOVE it!!!
  11. rebeccajo~ Thanks for the quick reply. I never thought about it as like making it a base, but I suppose it would be like making my own base. I wouldn't be following PA's recipe exactly because I don't have all of the oils and butters on hand (I wish I did! I will eventually order them!) but I'm anxious to try adding all of the goat's milk as I have never added goat's milk to mp soap, only to my handmilled cp soap. Was concerned about reheating it again with all that fresh goat's milk in it... I will follow your advise and make up a pound and give it a try! Thanks!
  12. In regards to PA's recipe, is there any reason why I couldn't make up that 2 pound recipe, pour it into a large mold to harden and then cut pieces off as I need them to make one bar at a time in different scents? Would it affect the fresh goat's milk causing it to turn sour heating it up again like that? TIA! Lorraine
  13. Thank you so much, candybee! You saved me a soap screw-up! I will try the combo of the stearic and CO!
  14. Not sure if it's the type of additives:confused: Maybe I'm heating the soap to too high a temp??? quietgirl~ good question! Wondering the same!
  15. Noodle~ I really like the WSP natural bases but have that one thing against them...being bendable. The first time I made some soap with the natural GM, I didn't add anything but FO and a little color. The next time I made soap I added FO, no color, a tiny bit of shea butter and some white table sugar... the sugar helped to harden the bar up! Until I got to the end of the bar where it became very pliable again. I'm going to try adding a little more sugar and some of the Dr. Bronners organic liquid soap next time to help with more lather, as some have suggested on the board. Here is where I have to agree with Candybee, the base does not accept much in the way of additives and it feels like I'm adding one thing to combat this or that, and then another to combat what I just added! I'm not going to give up yet though! It's a challenge!
  16. Thank you for your reply, Candybee. I truly appreciate it. I had a sneaky suspicion that the bars would be soft. I almost put an order in for the soap today and then decided to post here one more time before I do. I really appreciate your honesty and help since I am only a hobbyist and it takes me some time to go through an order of soap! It's just for me, dh, and some gifts for family and friends.......A million thanks!
  17. That was a wonderful thread! I read it 2+ times, but no one ever said whether or not they truly liked the EBC natural soap bases:( Can someone who has used it, or is using it, please just tell me if the soap bars made with the EBC natural bases get at least as hard as the SFIC bars do when they set up? I can always add stuff for moisture and lather if that is an issue...but I like a decently hard bar of soap! Please, any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks...
  18. Well, my gosh, he makes that soap in a glass bowl!!! Makes sense , so that he can place the pieces just so! Incredible! Now I'd like to know how on earth he gets that finished soap out of that glass bowl! LOL! I need to go back and really study his photos! I know I'll learn a thing or two (or ten!)
  19. Ohhhhh! Thank you! I'm gonna give that a try now!
  20. OMG! This guy's soaps are unbelievable! His website is like a creativity explosion!!! How on earth did he keep the green rind and then the white part of the rind from just falling in to the bottom of the mold on those awesome watermelon soaps??? I'm thinking he must have had to make that log by doing one section at a time, turning the mold as it set up??? Unreal!!! Has anyone figured out how much his soap actually costs per bar? He sure got the few puny creative juices in my brain flowing! LOL!!!
  21. Wow! How lucky can you get!!! Pity my poor husband if that were me!
  22. OMG! How lucky can you get!!! Pitty my poor husband if that were me!
