1. My thoughts exactly...that's why I suggested it.....but I also like "flower child" tough call between those 2!!!!
2. i use a lot of Tri-State's oils as well....I haven't used any of the ones you stated but most of those have been added since the last time I ordered! Some tired and true oils in J223 and OK6228: Snuggles (really strong - gives me headaches when pouring...but smells so good and my customers love it!) blueberry cobbler (awesome throw - but cut back a tad it's hard to mix in - smells droolworthy) cinnamon buns (I add a touch of their vanilla icing fo to it and OMG...it'll make you crave some serious cinnabuns - makes me wish cinnabon didin't leave town!!!) pearberry - awesome throw butt naked - awesome throw strawberry musk - another good one never tried blueberry honeysuckle but oob it smells great! daffodil is really strong but i had some discoloration with the oil and the wax - not too annoying just darkened the yeloow color i had and made it a tad orangish that's all i can think of off the top of my head....i must say that i've only had problems with 2 of their oils....called them about it...they apologized..and since have removed them from their website/store......so they don't keep selling oils that don't work! They invesitgate further into the matter and come up with answers for you! which to me is what customer service is all about!!! joe is pretty nice and extremely helpful...except when he is on the phone...must be Kim calling:p 'cause when you call you get his full attention!
3. you will have to nix the idea of acrylic/plexiglass for oven method hot process...see this link! http://www.aristec.com/instructions_TD.html
4. here are some pics of the mold to help you get the idea.... the mold with dividers in place... soap in the mold (needed a slightly bigger recipe...but it was the first time using so far) and after I removed the soap from the mold with dividers still in place.... hope that helps you out some!
5. the wood you need for the bottom is called Luan...it is a type of plywood that comes in 1/4" thickness...think hollow core doors only just a little thicker! As for plexiglass dividers - yes they can be used! No they do not give off any funky smells! Just be sure to coat them well with oil before shoving into the mold or they will be a bit tough to remove....you will need to notch the sides a bit for the plexiglass to fit into...I'll send ya a pic of a slab/log mold I have that is about what you are talking about...I've only used it once and had difficluties with the dividers/lining......be back in a few with some pics!
6. i know they were supposed to be blue...but the purple looks great! I love the look of your black swirls...looks like marble!!!! I so wanna sniff that...hubby uses it in the shower on occasion!!!
7. well said! Top the sarcasm has me rolling!!!!!
8. ohh...I just love hearing about experiments...post pics if you can! and definitely keep us updated!!!
9. that looks good enough to eat!!!!!
10. hahahaha....show 'em how monotonous it can be...like when you have to pre-wick dozens and dozens of jars...I always make a mess with the darn silicone glue!!! 'cause it isn't always exciting at least it isn't most days...just testing and trying something new is the exciting part for me....or unmolding some pillars...'cause you never know what you are gonna get
11. gorgeous purple color - love it! you can eliminate the "draw" lines on your next batch by turning the log upside down to cut (herbals touching table)...and knock any sticking buds on your blade after each cut!
12. i love how the black and white one looks like a really expensive chunk of marble....will be a wonderful addition to an artsy place!
13. thanks so much....i thought of yet another question...since I will be adding things to the oil...I was wondering if that would possibly cut down on shelf life? Or should I add a preservative? or maybe GSE or Vit E?
14. whoever is gonna get/receives those is gonna love you and the buyer 'cause your products are so fabu!
15. agreed...can't wait to see that one cut...looks like quite a interesting color combo in there!!!!
16. When infusing oils is it best to use fresh or dried herbals? Are there any herbals to avoid or do not do well with the infusing process? Are there oils that are better than others for infusing? Any tips for infusing as this will be my first time? I think I'm gonna start with mint in OO if anyone should need to know....
17. looks divine....i love your grumpy butter!!!!!!!
18. Ugghh...I know that smell too! Hubby is a VF and his boots and equipment stay in the garage in a large rubbermaid bin....that way he always knows where it is can throw it in the back of the Jeep or car without causing it to smell horribly as well! he brings it home sprays it down...lets air dry and then back into the tote til the next occasion. At least the jumpsuit thing that they wear to car accidents, etc is machine washable!!! didn't mean to offend anyone...I guess it's a personal preference on smell....it's just one I can't stand :undecided
19. ewww...why would you want a soap to smell like campfire smoke???? I always take at least 2 showers and wash EVERYTHING after we come back from camping because the smell is nauseating!
