1. Any one use these guys, I can't find any search info on them? http://www.candlesandsupplies.net/ They are only 3 hours away from me, so a day trip and/or cheaper shipping.
2. I don't like how one has to set up shipping. I want a place that has like usps calculated shipping by weight.
3. I have been testing a 3" diameter jar with gb 415 and a c-85 wick. On the 2nd and now 3rd burn, the melt pool is not reaching the sides. What wick should I be trying. I have in my stock a htp 126. but that seems like over kill.
4. Brower insurance does not cover the building, only the contents in side. Umm, is this bad not to have this coverage??
5. Why is my gb 415 coming out frosty and sinking in the middle. i heat to 180 and pour at 105.
6. is there a wick size that is between 36-24-24z & 44-24-18z ? the 36 seems to small and the 44 is a little to big for my votives. i need a wick, any wick that is between those.
7. As of right now I am figuring my cost off of a 10# slab of wax. I did look at prices of FO and took an average price. Also I am figuring in more shipping cost than if I bought everything together in one trip.
8. Ok, so here is my votive pricing. If my figures are correct., One votive is .78. So wholesale is $1.56 & retail would be $2.34. I am having a hard time seeing myself selling any at $2.34 in my area. Yankee candle votives are $1.99. Would you chop your price down to $2.00 or what? I would like to focus on selling boxes of 4 votives for around $9.00, instead of selling singles, but in my local area, people pay more attention to a lower price than what they actually get for the price. ( if that makes sense.)
9. why am i not getting a flat top after i do the repour of the votives? i have this indented circle around the wick pin. i dont have any wax left to do a third pour. am i doing something wrong.
10. How do we determine which FO is a "heavier" one compared to another. I guess what I am asking is do I need to test burn every FO to determine the wick for it. Either a larger wick or a smaller wick.
11. Here are some pictures of test burn #1 2 hours. Left picture is cinnamon with the 36-24-24z. Right picture is the 44-24-18z Middle picture is Vanilla Mint Both of those wicks look ok. However the one with the 44z, more wax is gone after it cooled. I have some cotton wicks coming from Peaks that I will try also.
12. Yes they are in the round glass votive holders. I redid the 36z wick and after about an hour the melt pool was a little less than 1/2" and very little mushroom. So I might choose that wick with that fo.
13. Ok, I have searched and can't find the answer. It's has to be somewhere. I am testing burning my votives. 4794 wax, 1oz fo/ lb cinnamon from peaks I have one with 44-24-18z, and one with 36-24-24z. after an hour, the 44 has a melt pool of about an 1/2 inch with a mushroom. The pool is still 1/2 inch after 2 hours. The 36 had a very little melt pool. Which now the flame is out but my kids have been running around so not sure if they blew it out or it went out. So will have to try the 36 again. Anyway, how big should the melt pool be on a votive after an hour?
14. I was going to put a spigot on my self, but after all the materials it would have cost a few bucks more than if I bought one made already.
15. Thanks... Lonestar is comparable in prices to peaks (wax), and cheaper shipping than bittercreek north and candlewic.
16. Where can I buy them. I live in ny, any place around here? I used to get them at wholesale supply plus, but I see they are not doing candle stuff any more correct?
17. I am venturing into testing GB 415 wax. Some reviews on here say they have good luck with CD wicks. Well, I am having a hard time trying to find these wicks, or the shipping for them to me is outrageous. Does Peak have a suitable wick for this wax? They have cotton core, HTP, LX, RRD, or Zinc options? Not sure what size jar I will be testing yet, but lets start with the 8oz jelly jar.. Maybe a 4 1/2 by 4 jar..
18. i looked at them but if i recall their shipping is $5 or so more.
19. Been searching, and searching. Looks like a 4x4x2 gift box will hold 4 votives. The cheapest place with shipping appears to be this web site call Delux . com 100 for $14 plus $14 for shipping. they have the white and kraft ( same price) Is there any place else I am over looking that is cheaper.
20. Do you guys use 6% / 1oz of FO per pound?
21. I never got into zinc wicks because I didn't understand the 2 or three number thing. I am looking at a website that has 4 different 36 wicks listed and 5 different 44 wicks listed. What 44 wick do you use?
22. I stopped candles a few years ago. I used 4794 wax for votives. I think I used a CD-5 wick. CandleScience is the cheapest place that I have found for this wax, However the don't have CD wicks. Their suggestion is a LX-14. I don't recall trying that wick before. Is the lx-14 wick good for this wax in votive?
23. i came up with Candles at Home... how does that sound?
24. Hello, I used to make candles years ago, then I stopped. I am thinking about getting back into it. I am struggling to come up with a name for my hobby / business. Everything I can come up with, it appears it is already taking. Any tips or ideas? I mainly made votives before with a jar here and there.
