  1. well, that is a little comforting to know. This purely peppermint is from peaks. and I just pour some in 6006 today.. what a waste..
  2. Month or so ago i got 60# of 4794 from CS. been struggling to wick it and to get a good ht. i was testing purely peppermint from peaks today. trying three different wicks. all i could smell was a very heavy gas odor. guess the petroleum. i thought i read that other people experienced this few months ago. could i have gotten a bad batch. which is leading to my troubles. also sorry for the multiple post today.
  3. The smooth side was really why I was looking and wondering. They would be a little more costly but may be worth it..
  4. I am hoping it is candle nose but... I also poured a pumpkin souffle the same day as the lavender and I am testing that right now and I can smell that and it is burning correctly (atleast on first burn).. so..
  5. the ones I have been buying at my walmart to test with say on them 8oz mason. And they are definitely round, not square. these are the ones http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ball-12-Count-Regular-Mouth-Half-Pint-Jars-with-Lids-and-Bands/21290189?action=product_interest&action_type=title&placement_id=irs_middle&strategy=PWVUB&visitor_id=50899295095&category=0%3A4044%3A623679%3A1032619%3A668719&client_guid=84b6913e-d35b-46c4-a349-25ab38285ee7&config_id=0&parent_item_id=21290189&guid=4f1b5482-beae-4875-9a48-42a16f547993&bucket_id=000&findingMethod=p13n
  6. So I got a sample of 6006 from peaks. Poured a couple 8oz jars one being lavender. Used zinc wicks, and wow it burned great. So I ordered a slab of 6006 from peaks. Poured some with the slabbed wax. One being lavender. Poured these on 9/20 so they have been cured for 10 days. Used the same formula and same zinc wick and I test burned it and I smell very little HT and after 2 1/2 hours the melt pool was not deep at all and left some hang up on first burn... Ughh..
  7. ok, is there a difference between 8oz mason jars like you can get at walmart, and 8oz jelly jar that you can get at peaks or candle science?
  8. What wax do you use doglvr?. I have been trying 4794, 6006, and a mix of both.
  9. I thought at first that thw CS christmas tree was weak but the longer it cured the beter it got.
  10. Do "pine" scents take longer to cure? I had christmas tree from CS that i burned after a few days to a week later and it wasnt that strong. then i burned another that cured for weeks and it was very nice. i poured mountain pine from peaks last week in 6006 and i burned today and that was not strong. So i am wondering maybe pine scents take longer to cure.
  11. So I got the Mediterranean Fig from CS and had some one test it and loved it. Than I was ordering from Peaks and got their Mediterranean Fig and it smells totally different. Peaks to me is a little sweeter smelling.
  12. So starting to test melts. I turn the lamp on for about 5 hours at a time. When I turn it off the scent is still strong. However when I turn it back on the next day, the scent is barely noticeable. Does leaving the wax in the lamp try affect the HT? Not sure why the HT is still strong when I shut it off but not when I turn it back on the next day.
  13. Not really a good thing to do. You family and friends could still burn their house's down. you need to test every scent /wick combo. But you may get other opinions about this...
  14. I just started with this wax. I have been using 8% fo. I am currently testing a cinnamon from peaks, I am using the 62-50-18 wick. I have done a couple of burns and as long as the wick is trimmed, it is burning perfectly. If the wick is not trimmed then it is too big.
  15. So a local place was asking for vendors for a craft show and a few people asked if they had a pink zebra rep. first of hear of them. Any one have experience with these products. How do these compare to handmade melts / candles? little worried about local business when the time comes for me to sell.
  16. Do you guys have catalogs? Is there a template out there for one or which program do you use?
  17. Yes, it is a plug in type but there are no batteries in it. That scale only had .1 in increments. My new scale goes 2 decimal places. I poured some votives tonight and it was nice to see those 2 decimal place.
  18. ....................................................
  19. correct, I use 4794 wax which requires a repour. So I use a double boiler to melt the repour and steam is just rolling. The other guy said he uses a hot plate or something like that. And I can not due to my pouring pots.
  20. I don't use a microwave. I have 2 presto pots. One has my votive wax in it and the Other has my container wax in it. Yes, I do use plastic pouring pots. I have one for each scent that I have.
  21. I can't afford to test all over again. I came to a conclusion that my scale was not reading correctly. This is after I dumped almost half of a 1oz bottle of vanilla into my wax and the scale was shifting back and forth from 0-2 oz. Yesterday the same thing happened where I know I was pouring way enough FO in but scale was reading 0. So I bought a new scale and tested it by pouring some FO in a shot glass and sure enough this new scale numbers start to climb and the test I did yesterday on my other scale, the numbers barely moved. I don't think this happened all the time, but what do I do. Could this is part of why I am having such wicking and HT issues. UGHHHH...I am about to cry. Almost 3 months of testing and I don't even know where I stand.
  22. From my searches here, you need to put one on the bottom of each votive.
  23. Sorry, should have excluded those ones. Looking for the 3 numbered ones, like the zincs but cotton cored.
  24. Where can I get a sample pack of these cotton core wicks? I have look everywhere I can think of.
