  1. I just made these this morning in my Tog mold. It's my first try @ swirling. One batch accelerated a little on me, so I just tried to be creative with the top. The first one is, "juniper", I stirred it to long, to swirl it the way I wanted, oh well... :rolleyes2 The second batch, "sandalwood" came out a lil better! I love this 6/12 Tog mold, it's really good @ helping me practice my swirling. Hope you like! I'll show the finished pics tomorrow.:highfive:
  2. What does it mean? Some sites have different grades, (which confuses me btw). For instance, they may have, "apricot kernal oil, 16oz. @ 12.00", then underneath they have, "apricot kernal expeller pressed oil, 16oz. @ 6.00". What's the difference between the two? Is one oil, better than the other? I have to admit this expeller pressed, is more in my price range,.... but I'm not trying to risk a batch of soap ya know!:undecided
  3. I just saw this post, and I am sooo proud of you lady! BTW, how many batches by now?
  4. Where do U find lip balm colorant? Is there a specific type of coloring U can use? I'm new to this, sorry.:embarasse
  5. Now that's brainstorming at it's best! Terrific idea :highfive:!
  6. That sounds good and does clear up my thoughts!:rolleyes2
  7. Those are sooo cute! I also love to embroider. I have a Brother 8500D, it's old but a workhorse.
  8. Ditto here! I'm new to B&B also, and very eager to whip something up too! However I cant decide on what to start with....I'm thinking lip balms 1st. I'm in the research phase for now, so I'm sure to do more reading than posting. :rolleyes2 Good luck to you, your in the right place.
  9. I use both but prefer the liquid. The liquid does have a smell, but once its in the wax U cant smell it! With chips I prefer to drop those in as soon as I get the wax out of the presto (200-198*)when it's the hottest, this way they are completely dissolved waay before it's the right temp to pour in my FO. I stir really good, while they're on the griddle, to make sure there are no flecks I check it by sitting the clear pyrex on top of a white paper towel, and looking thru the top for specks. Seems like a lot, but actually its not!
  10. I use those also and they work great! There's no shipping, and the color shows well on candles that are not colored too dark. I use this size (2x4) on my J-jars 8oz.
  11. They seem to be really nice, pics are just too small to see details.
  12. ITA, which is why I mostly lurk. I'm new to candle making also, and I have soo many questions, but I dont want to be attacked because of my questions or lack of knowledge. :embarasse What I cant find when searching the board, I've learned to ask on other forums.
  13. Cant you drill two more holes in with a small bit? Three wicks, does sound like a winner to me, but then again, I am a newbie.:embarasse
  14. Did you try Houston Candle Supply and Texas Candle Supply? I haven't made any candles yet, but I am about to visit these 2 places since they are local to me. I'm unsure if they carry tins, but I luv the look of tins and found a site last nite with a variety in sizes. I'll link them later when I get back.:smiley2: HTH Mz.Choize
  15. Thanx soo much for the replies:smiley2:! I really appreciate your responses, all your info is so informative. I love candles, and always wanted to make them. I have always driven sooo far just to buy the ones I preferred. When I met someone that made them,(they were highly scented the way I love them) I purchased 3-doz from her, 1-doz for myself, 2 to sell in my business. Myself and my clients loved them and wanted more but the lady moved away. When I realized the candle supplier I researched online was literally within walking distance, I figured I could try out different waxes without worrying about the cost of shipping. This community feels like such a great family, I am so happy to have found you. I have lurked here for 8 months or so, and I enjoy how helpful everyone is.
  16. Maybe clear packing tape over cardstock, worth a try to see if it stays when heated.:rolleyes2 HTH
  17. Hi, I'm a newbie and very new to candlemaking. I would like to know which wax/brand do you prefer to use for containers? I live only blocks from a warehouse supplier, and I've been contemplating for some time getting into making them. I purchased a hand poured candle from someone a year ago that scented so well, even though it was unlit. The wax looked very creamy sort of like, well,cream:rolleyes2. I sold about 2-doz candles for her in my business, everyone loved them. However, she moved to Atl. and I have lost contact. I'm unsure about the wax type but I was just curious about the types you prefer. TIA
  18. That's beautiful! I luv the font. I also embroider,I own a Brother. I make my own designs also. Did you make the apron too?
