This is what I was told to do from one of our members here for dipping candles,,,Use IGI-1343 with 8% sterine, 2%microcrystilline then dip away till you get the size you want, then over-dip them in straight sterine for a crystal effect. it works!!!! woopsss sorry,,,I should have read that right!!! Sorry!!!!!!!!! (didnt realize when I read it,,you were talking pillars ) sorry
  3. What size wick would you put in a pillar for total consumption,,,I use 24 ply flat braid with a 3x6.5 round mold,,,I would like for mine NOT to tunnel. thanks
  4. I agree with Scented and Henry you will not need to poke reliefs if you are hand-dipping. But for a mold I am not very sure.:rolleyes2
  5. Thats what I was looking for. I new there was a better chance of tapers working in a recipe that added the 8% Sterine & 2% micro. What I really like is that one can cause the crystal affect by dipping in Straight Sterine. Thanks so much and thank you for everyones input. I really appreciate it.
  6. Hi Everyone,,I was wondering,,I want to do hand dipped tapers but I am not sure what kind of paraffin wax to use. do I need to get straight paraffin and add micro-crystilline to it,,can I use a pillar blend???? Help,,please

  9. I have done Hot Cocoa,,and it smells wonderful except it is a heavier scent so I use 1/2 oz. to 1lb wax,,learned from my first try,,LOL;)

  11. I ordered my wax,,didnt realize there was a bottle of FO in there until I was pouring the peanuts out into a bag ( I save them for packaging) anyway it was cornucopia,,,What a great sent!!!

  13. when making a layered pillar,,you still poke hole reliefs right? I want to make a pillar candle the colors of my kids highschool and needed to know how I do this...Thanks:confused:
  14. Thanks yoopercandles I will have a go at the 4794 and also keep to the 4786 & 4625,,,and 6006 this gives me more of a selection. your help has been most appreciated!!!!!
  15. I really like the 4625 for my pillars and votives,, And have since re-ordered more!! I have not tried the tarts yet,,those are next:D

Hi,,I have been using 4786 for my containers and I was wondering which you all think is better, the single pour IGI-4630A, or 4786,,I also want to make some Tarts,,can these be made from the container wax or stick to pillar wax for these..any input is much appreciated. Thanks. I have had a hard time deciding what to order.
  18. I use mineral spirits,,,got that tip from the old message board..works great and not expensive!! Try it.
  19. wvcandleguy has it right on,,,I used rubbing alcohol and and it worked like a charm. I use a Hot melt glue gun,,have had no problems.
  20. I too was one that didnt know how to re-heat my excess wax,,I kept using my heatgun but soon realized thats not a good idea. I did this yesterday. I pulled out an old aluminum skillet and put a few pebbles in between the pan and the pouring pot added water and put on medium heat and make sure you have your candy thermometer in the pyrex cup,,,< That is soooo important....Just wanted to share too
  21. Hi I agree, I started with peaks pillar starter kit and this wax 4625 is good,,, I love Peaks wax,,,,
