  1. I don't know if it will work on dye, but my daughter spilled hot pink fingernail polish on our carpet and my husband used carburator cleaner and it came right up.
  2. I'll see if I can top that. I had a package delivered FedEx from Amazon.com they put it in front of my garage door. Which I'm assuming they thought I would notice it pulling up, but they didn't assume I might be home and not see it when I backed out of the garage. Needless to say, Amazon.com is sending me another presto pot and a $20 gift certificate.
  3. Sorry I can't help you with the mixing ratio's, I usually just add until I like the smell. Never had a problem with it watering down. I can say, it is by far the best lotion base I have ever used. I loooove this stuff. It leaves a soft silky feeling on you, not sticky like some of them do. Good luck!
  4. I've had great luck with their Extreme Concentrates. My favorite is Amber Romance. I would also recommend Sun Ripened Raspberry, Home for the Holidays, Home Sweet Home, and strawberry jam. I wouldn't bother ordering the sos quality. They are good for bath and body products, but I haven't had much luck in candles.
  5. Thanks you guys for helping me out. Too bad I'm gonna miss the peppermint, that one is my daughter's favorite scent, anything minty! Off to burn!
  6. Ok, I got 20 candles. I got 2 from dragontears. 2 that I can't find a CT username on, and 1 I already burned and threw away the wrapping it came in. The 2 with no usernames are 1) Pumpkin, want some pie? from At My Wick's End. 2) Berry Hotcakes from Alluring Aromas. The one I burned already was Autumn Harvest a peachy orange color. So, on my list I'm showing I didn't get one from Trish, SpellKast, and candlesprite7, and Glowlite. If anyone can help, please do.
  7. Got mine today too! Went through them and I couldn't decide where to start, so I'm just going to stick my hand in the box and pull one out. We did do a great job. Everyone looks and smells so awesome! I'm in on the next swap for sure!!!!!
  8. Does anyone know of a good place to order some 8 ounce tins for candles?
  9. I'm going to mix 10 oz of J223 and 6 oz of EZSoy for some containers. My question is they both have different temps that you add your fo,dye and also different pour temps, so which one should I go by? Or should I test somewhere in the middle of each?
  10. Great job! What wax did you use? I've been trying to achieve that look and no luck yet!
  11. I've tried to figure these out too. I have used straight fo, fo and DPG, fo and perfumer's alcohol. I can not get these to have as strong as scent throw as the real thing. Really, they have no scent throw at all. I gave up.
  12. Well, I haven't poured Peak's fruit slices but I have poured one very similar oob from a different supplier, and I too smell fuel!
  13. I got a soapstone tart burner and I'm waiting for my tarts to cure a couple of days, and I was wondering if I could use just straight fo in the burner. Would I need to dilute it with anything (DPG, water, etc.)? TIA
  14. OK, topofmurrayhill, one look at your votives and I'm considering backing out of the swap:shocked2:
  15. I get mine from Magestic Mountain Sage. Has great hold and cold throw in IGI 4794 wax. Also use it in lotion. I think it is a little more $$$ than the others.
  16. I use Vodka for my spray. You can buy stuff cheaper than Absolut. I don't measure I just throw it in there with some fo, I have found that if you let it sit for several days to a week before using it, it seems to have a stronger scent throw. Also, I have read on other posts, but haven't tried yet, that you can add a little bit of a carrier oil, such as almond oil to it and it helps the scent have more staying power on your skin. Be careful if you use it for linen spray it might stain. LOL
  17. Testing votives and I'm not quite sure I understand what to look for as far as melt pool. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  18. Going to make up some votives and I just got some of the IGI 4794 which I have never used. The instructions say to heat to 175 and add dye and fo. Is this the temp ya'll add the fo? Also, I was thinking of using a 36-24-24 wick, sound good?
  19. Thanks you guys so much for all the info. I can't wait to get started!
  20. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply it was "effortless", because I know it's not. I wanted input on whether it would be easier to start out with votives or container candles, waxes that need additives vs waxes that don't, soy waxes vs other waxes, etc. I know everyone has different ways they do theirs and their own reasons for likeing certain things, I was just wanting input to decide where a good starting point for me would be. This is the board I came to when I started out with B&B, and I could not have done as well as I have without it, so Thanks to all.
  21. New to candlemaking, I have done bath and body forever and want to try something new. Can anyone suggest a good wax to start out with that requires little effort (I don't want to get discouraged to quickly) but get's a good scent throw?
