  1. Really like your candles. Now you got me wanting to try palm wax. Janet
  2. They look very nice. Thanks for posting. I saw those jars the other day in WM. I thought they would make great wickless candles. Gotta use up all the jars I bought first. Janet
  3. Hi, I use ecosoya pb for my tarts and they are awesome. I use the mini muffin pans. I haven't tried clamshells with it though. Janet
  4. Thank you, blazerina and Marie Jeannette and Care Bear. That really answers the questions I have in my mind. I am going to do both and enjoy making them. Janet
  5. Thanks, AJ! That's it. They both intrigue me. I think both would be so much fun to make. I'm right with you. Janet
  6. Thanks so much, Jennifer! I guess it's the chemicals that go into the mp soap to make it pour easily is what I need to research and fine out. I am getting closer to my nagging question in my mind. Janet
  7. Hi, I'm new to soap making and have been reading on this forum for awhile. You have given me the confidence that I can do this. I haven't bought anything yet. I've also read some other websites on soaping too. I've heard good things about both these types of soaps. From what I understand, the cp soap is natural. So does that mean the mp is not? If it's not, what's in it that's not. (I'm certainly not trying to start any controversy like soy vs. paraffin.) I would like to sell soap eventually, but need to know what to tell someone who asks the difference. I see you can buy many types of nice bases for mp soap that already have good ingred. in them. Is it that they just did all the work for you so it's more expensive to make soap that way? I tried to do a search on here with this title but came up empty. I want to start soaping soon and will probably do both. But I can't for the life of me get that nagging question out of my mind. I appreciate any help to understand I can get. Thanks. Janet
  8. Hi Jakalex, Thanks for your post. I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear. No, I used ecosoya 135 for the container. I only meant that was the only candle I have ever attempted. Now I want to attempt a pillar with the ecosoya pb. Your info on the ones you are making is just what I was looking for. Thanks for the help. Janet:cool2:
  9. Hi, I made some tarts with this wax and really like them. I would like to make a pillar with it. I have only made one candle so far. It's a container, and I haven't been successful wicking it yet. Has anyone made a pillar using this wax? What size should I start with and what wick? I appreciate all your help. Janet:)
  10. Soycandle.com is good. Melissa is very helpful.
  11. Kay, I use ecosoya 135. I get it from www.candlescience.com. They are located in NC. I live in SC and I get my order the next day. It's great. Janet
  12. Thanks Shellybean, I'm just going to sell them like that. They look nice and smooth, just the dip. I guess I worry too much. Janet
  13. Hi Everyone, I made my first tarts today using ecosoya pb. I used 1lb wax and 1 ou. fo and some dye chips. Is it okay that they dip a little in the center? Is this a bad thing? I poured at 120 degrees. I was wondering if they have to be flat across the top. Does this happen to anyone else? Thanks, Janet
  14. I use the ecosoya 135 and I really like it. What do you mean by "babysitting?" Janet
  15. I was told by the company I buy my ecosoy 135 from that vanilla does not throw very strong in it. You have to mix it with something like vanilla hazelnut. Janet
  16. I have tried three different waxes and all the wicks I have tried mushroom, too. It doesn't bother me anymore either. Janet:smiley2:
  17. Erin, I don't think it's weird. I have the hardest time trying to figure out what color to make the fo candle. I've been using blocks and sometimes they come out light and others dark??? I have used only one liquid dye. Red. I still have to use a lot of it. Oh well, I don't think it really matters that much. Janet
  18. Thanks Carrie and Erin, I am using ecosoya 135 and paper 60 wick. The wick worked fine in GW 444 but not this. This is container wax and now I'm trying 767 wick it series. Thanks, Janet
  19. I'm wondering why my flame is giving off black smoke once in a while. I know my wick is too large. I'm going to wick down. I also put a little over 3/4 oz. fo in 8 oz. soy wax. Is is burning off fo? So is it because of the wick or the fo, or both, or something else? Janet
  20. Thanks Erin, I'm glad to see you use dark pink too. I have such a hard time getting red. I resort to pink. Janet
  21. Erin, Just curious. What color did you dye the wax? Thanks. Janet
  22. Thanks Suzanne and Erin, I pour my fo at 160 degrees. Let me explain: The fo is from soycandle.com. So is the soy wax 444. But I did purchase some other fo's from candlescience that say you can add up to 1 3/4 ounce per pound. I'm going to wait another week and light it up again. Thanks so much for responding. Janet
  23. Hi Erin, I'm sorry to confuse you. I put 1 1/2 ozs. fo per pound of wax. So my jar is holding 3/4 oz. of fo. Are you saying that if i have too much fo in the wax it could cause me not to get a hot throw? I have some fo's from candlescience that say on their label of the bottle that you could use up to 1 3/4 oz. per pound of wax. I used 1 1/2 ozs. a pound of apple cinnamon fo with my wax. I thought I read on here that some people use that much. When I swirl my wax around in the jar while it's burning, I can smell the fo. but when it's just burning I can't smell it. Even if I put my nose to it. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help. Janet:confused:
