  1. I am doing door prizes. I LOVE the pumpkin idea. Maybe I'll use turkeys or something instead of pumpkins.
  2. I am working on my 4th show for November. I've had the venue nailed down for about a month and have already started getting vendors. There's a lady I know who is doing her second show and is planning hers the week before mine at the same venue. (Just a little background...I went to her first show and it didn't go well at all. She had 15 vendors cramped in an ITTY BITTY room, there wasn't a great turnout and she had a vendor there who sold adult stuff. Personally, I didn't like this because there were a good number of kids who came through.) So, anyway...With her trying to have her show the week before me, I need to work even harder to make mine the BEST. I already have the following things planned.... - There will be 70 vendors, tables and chairs will be provided - I'll be providing food for the vendors - There will be entertainment (face painting and a caricature artist) - I'm doing prize giveaways and a raffle - The event will also be well advertised (It'll go into the Washington Post, a VERY large paper that more than 500,000 will read), it'll also be advertised in some smaller local papers, on the radio, online and flyers will be distributed. I'm hoping that with all of this and the great vendors I'm getting, my show will be a another huge success.
  3. Another great way to advertise is...If you make bath and body products leave a sample of something with your contact info on it in restrooms. The products would probably be a hit in the restrooms of office buildings. HTH
  4. A lot of us use ones from Sunshine Container, scroll down toward the bottom, they are the clear actetate ones. http://www.sunshinecontainer.com/candles.htm
  5. Peak has a Cabernet Grape that smells like grape koolaid to me. It's a big hit w/ my customers who like grape.
  6. Jaimenc, check out your fragrance list, you might want to make "Childhood" the same font as the others. HTH Emercier - check your PM's.
  7. With the ones you like that are regular priced, why not get the name of the company off the box and contact them directly. They may offer wholesale prices.
  8. Thanks, same here...It's nice to have input to see how shows are in other areas.
  9. He was definitely a big hit. The next time though I will have a sign up sheet for him. So instead of people standing in line for 30 minutes they can put their name down and be shopping for at least 20 of those minutes!!
  10. Anyone have any other ideas for things you'd like to have available at a show?
  11. You are hilarious!!! Do you have the new printer up and working yet?
  12. Bravo5, are you having any entertainment at the fundraiser? I did a fundraiser last month and hired a caricature artist for a few hours. He was a HUGE hit!! Most I've seen, at least in my area, require a 2 hour minimum and are about $100/hour.
  13. Thanks!! The hotel is letting us use a few of the luggage carts to get out stuff in. BUT, the area where we unload is RIGHT OUTSIDE of the ballroom where the show is!
  14. I do make sure I get around to everyone a few times, during any down time we may have. Hopefully there won't be too much down time!!! I'm always able to get around to everyone at least once. I plan on having a table right outside of the room w/ sign up sheets to participate in the show, to be on the mailing list for the next show and a sheet that has all the vendors. I'll probably have the lunch for the vendors served at 11:30, it's a 1/2 hour before the show and 1 hour after the doors open for set up. That way they can get their food before the shoppers get there.
  15. No food vendors are allowed. I just checked and they will allow vendors to bring snacks. So, that'll be more money for me to advertise!!
  16. And you'd be bringing enough for everyone right?!
  17. I'm planning my next show and want to offer something extra to the vendors, but I'm not sure what. Everyone will get a 6 ft. table and 2 chairs in their space. The show will be advertised well, it's going in tons of online sites in the calender section and will be in about 20 papers, large and small. The event is at a hotel which is adamant about the vendors not having food, so they can't run and get McDonald's or something for lunch, but can bring water or something to drink. The hotel has a restaurant which is moderately priced and also has vending machines throughout. With this being a factor, should I get food from the hotel so the vendors can have something to eat? Nothing big, hors d'oeuvres and something to drink. What kind of things do you all expect when you participate in a show?
  18. I've had some idiots asking for "a hook up" even after the items are already on sale!! Last year I did two 8oz jars for $10, a real steal. And people were asking for a discount from that. HELL NO!!!!
  19. For those of you who do shows, do you prefer shows of 50+ vendors or smaller ones?
  20. Take as much as you can fit in your vehicle!!! Here's a link for LOTS of good tips...Good luck on your show!! http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4789
  21. Great news, I'm sure you'll do very well. In regards to the "freebie", maybe if you use your tealights and package them as singles, including the fragrance @ your info on it that might work. Does the freebie have to be an actual product though? Maybe you can make up some special coupons or something JUST for this event. And when they buy from you and mention that event or whatever they get a certain percentage off. That way they'll still get something "free" and you don't have to cut into your stock or make a lot of extra stuff right now. HTH
