  1. Looks like there are some serious followers!!! Hopefully others will lend a hand and/or attend and help make this an event a success!!!
  2. They also have these tents at Walmart.
  3. I did call the lady and the spaces vary. The lowest price is $350 and it goes up to $500 and you pay month to month. The only reason I'm thinking about doing it is because I would love to have a whole store, but wouldn't be able to afford it. With this market, I would be able to still have the "store", without paying an arm and a leg that I don't have right now. I think I'm going to e-mail some of the people there, or even stop by and talk to them about the traffic flow, etc.
  4. Have any of you ever sold at craft malls or markets, like this one www.shopthemarket.com? If so, how'd it work out for you?
  5. Do any of you who use Bulb Jars or Bean Pot Jars sell them in boxes? I know that Sunshine Container sells the Pillar/Jar boxes, but will they fit jars other than apothecary? Thanks.
  6. Hopefully by the end of next year this'll be my full time job,
  7. I have a question on your Mini Muffin Tarts...the little section in the middle, is that from doing a second pour? Should it be smooth or is that your desired look?
  8. Unfortunately, people just DON'T read. You could shout it through a megaphone, post signs everywhere, tape it to the inside of their eyelids, but nothing works!!! I would reiterate to the store owner the importance of trimming the wick. And if you must be blunt and say look if you don't follow the directions, you can burn your store down, then do so! I burned one of mine at home a few weeks back and forgot to trim the wick. My boyfriend yells downstairs to me, "Hey, this wick is really high, don't you need to cut it or something." I thought he was clueless about candles, I guess not!! Guess I taught him well.
  9. Right, it can't go in the domain name, but it should go everywhere else.
  10. I only looked at the site a little but here are a few things that stood out to me: On the main page, your logo and the other rectangle should be bigger. They are a little hard to read, especially the smaller one. There should be an apostrophe in Lisa's. When you click on the pics to see a bigger view, they are a little too big and blurry. Under bath delights, the type of bags be musliN. MusliM is a religion.
  11. I tried both, but ended up using the clear ones. I like the look better. I haven't had any problems with them.
  12. Well, I didn't want everyone knowing too much of my business, hence the private messaging. But, if you have store questions to ask feel free.
  13. Those of you who have stores or have had stores, I need to pick your brains!!! Please PM me! Thanks!!
  14. I wasn't going to charge at the door, but I think I might. Sheesh, now I need to figure out how much to charge. There's a larger show here with 400+ vendors and they charge $7 per adult for entry. So I might charge $5, I don't know.
  15. Not a problem giving your opinion. This is the kind of info I was looking for. In addition to the advertising being done by the venue, it'll also be in our large paper here that will be seen by 800,000+ people and also some smaller local papers. I am considering make the show a 2 day one. I need to look into how things will be "looked after" if left over night.
  16. Well, with charging $80 and $100 for the spaces I'll be able to make a nice profit!! I'll get it figured out. Thanks for the feedback everyone, keep it coming!
  17. Yeah, I would suffer a loss, but in this area, I doubt all of them won't be sold. I'm definitely going to bumb up the price. Right now I'm thinking $80 for the 8x8 spaces and $100 for the 10x10 spaces.
  18. I've already figured what it'll cost me which includes the place, advertisting and administrative stuff. And if I want to just cover those things and NOT make a profit, I can charge the bare minimum which is $45 per space. I just looked back at my sheet and there are 173 - 10x10 spaces and 32 8x8 spaces. I could probably charge a little more for the 10x10 spaces. I'm just looking to see what people in other areas would pay for a location like this. It's a little hard to judge in my area, people will try to do shows and charge $100 for a teeny, tiny space and the venue is located in a REALLY bad area (one known for lots of crime). I've seen shows anywhere from $25 up to $400 in my area.
  19. I'm in the process of planning for a big show next year, my 3rd year of doing my fall show. I'm thinking about having the show at a LARGE facility where graduations and concerts take place. It can accomodate about 200 vendors in 8x10 spaces, it has 2 concession stands (hot dogs, pizza, etc.), has TONS of parking, and great advertising (an electronic sign that faces a main road and my event will be posted in their newsletter going to over 5000 people and on their website). I'm trying to figure out what to charge vendors per space....Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!! Also, here's a link to get an idea of what the place looks like. http://www.showplacearena.com/virtualtour/java_map_13.html
  20. A few things I would suggest...Whenever you're giving a gift, give something from your product line. Especially if the person has never used one of your items before. If they like it, I'm sure they'll be a repeat customer and you won't really have to do much talking. Encourage your friends/family to have a "catalog show" for you to get some orders. And you may want to seriously look into getting a website. You may speak to someone via e-mail and want to tell them about your candles and what better way to include your website. Also, if you have a regular mail person or someone you deal w/ at the grocery store and you're used to talking to, why not let them know you make candles or give them a card or brochure. Hopefully, things will get better and you can branch out and start doing shows. Do you have anyone you can take with you to a show who could "do the talking"?
  21. How pretty!!! I really like how the layers aren't straight. I want one!!!
