You can see the boxes here - http://www.candelights.co.uk/supplies/misc_supplies.html Hope that helps Keith Candelights in the UK
  3. The above explanation from Mizzyb is great .. except for one very major point .. PROFIT !!! she hasn't factored for it, only materials and labour. Imagine you were the boss of Walmart or Marks and Spencers or any othr retailer across the world, how would they even begin to make money if they only factored materials and labour, who would line the bosses wallet or in fact pay the employees ! The absolute golden rule for pricing is actually very simple and this is it :- Retail products are x 3, the first is the cost of materials, the second is your labour time and the third is your profit. If the materials of your pillar candles were £1.50 then the retail would be £4.50, materials @ £1.50 + labour @ £1.50 + profit @ £1.50 Wholesale prices have to be a little less for obvious reasons and the rule there is x 2.3 the profit is reduced by 0.7 for the customer to make a profit and the loss in profit is made up for by the increased turnover revenue. It's as simple as that. This is a universal formula used by businesses the world over. I've come across it time and again in the different ventures I've either been involved in or had connection with. Needless to say I employ the same formula in my own business very successfully ! Have fun guys ! Keith Candelights in the UK http://www.candelights.co.uk
  4. Hi all Thank you for mentioning Candelights. I would just like to point out that we do offer discounts for larger purchases, we offer wholesale prices on items purchased in bulk. Waxes are shown at discounted prices, for instance paraffin wax would be would be £104 for 40kgs at the retail price but by bulk buying it is reduced to £56, all waxes are priced in the same manner. Fragrances are discounted to retail buyers, you will be very hard pressed to find 200g at £6.99 anywhere else plus there is a permanent offer of 100g of FO with every £20 spent on FO's.If you want to purchase anything in larger amounts please just drop us an email with your requirements and we'll give you a quote. You have to remember that products in the UK are dearer than those in the US ( for US residents ) so if a UK resident were to purchase for example, heart shaped containers from the US, shipping, import duty on both the product price AND the shipping and then VAT on the whole lot would take the price much higher than you can purchase here, £2.99. I like to think that Candelights is one of the cheapest suppliers in the UK even though our products are top quality. Please contact us if you require something that isn't on the website, we'll get it for you and try to beat anyone elses price in the process ! http://www.candelights.co.uk
  5. and in the UK too, I can't find a glassware supplier for love nor money ! Keith Candelights in the UK
  6. Whilst we're on the subject of how's it done, what about these, does anyone know how to get this effect? http://www.candlesupply.co.uk/swirl_candles.htm This is the swirly ones near the bottom http://www.candlesupply.co.uk/pillar_candles.htm They're all lovely but how on earth do they get the effect, c'mon folks, someone must know !
  7. I always add stearin and vybar to my pillar waxes, I've had a couple of fo's recently that wouldn't absorb, I just heated the wax up to 90 degrees maybe a bit hotter but don't go to boiling point, add the fo then whisk it like crazy with a balloon whisk. After you've done that let it cool back to the normal pouring temp, 80 to 85 degrees. When you add vybar add no more than 3% or you'll get problems, I usually add 2%. With stearin you can add up to 30% but I find 10% is fine. Keith Candelights in the UK
  8. I use wax glue. Mozzie: Do you get shrinkage on your tealights ? I use container wax and they never shrink, basically because there isn't enough wax to make a difference when it cools. Are you using pillar wax for your tealights? Keith Candelights in the UK
  9. The qvc link works fine, just copy and paste, just make sure you don't get a carriage return/line feed in the middle of it. Best way to do it is paste it into notepad and remove the line feed then copy again and paste intoyour browser. Any AOL users will have to do that anyway as their browsers are non-standard. HTH
  10. Yes, it's fine ! I sell purpose made boxes to hold six tealights, neat little thing it is ! Keith Candelights in the UK
  11. I carry 3 sizes of hexagon shaped jars with lids. 100, 200 and 300 ml Email for details of special offers on the jars that give better prices than those advertised. http://www.candelights.co.uk Thank you
  12. We make our candles highly scented, we pride ourselves on that. When we make say a 400gm candle we will add 10% ( in most cases ) FO to it, so 10% of 400 is 40, so we add 40gm. Hope that helps Keith Candelights in the UK
  13. I just use ivory for cream, after all it's more or less the same. Simply add a little more than you would to obtain a normal ivory. To get a nice ivory I add 2gm of colour flakes to 100gm of wax, to get a nice cream just make it 4gm, et voila ! Keith Candelights in the UK
  14. Hi everyone this is my first post. I see that Mr Blobby is looking for tealight cups and boxes. I can suggest http://www.candelights.co.uk Both items are quite cheap. Keith
