Jen if you have a Home Goods near you, sometimes they have really neat things for molds. I bought 12 of the cupcake molds for $3.99 awhile ago. Different things all the time.
I've never heard of that store until I looked it up thanks!
-
They all come from china so I like to avoid the middle man. I wish I could find them at the dollar tree though I always look lol. Local stores are always quicker if you can find them cheap. I've seen them for a pack of 12 for under $6 from china!
-
They look fantastic! I got that a couple weeks ago it looks like a million air bubbles right? I think it's from overheating I can't be sure though.
-
I made a coconut milk soap the other day and just added it at trace from the fridge. Turned out nice I got a little crack from overheating, but I had oats soaking in the coconut milk and cracks seem to be normal for me lol

What I want to know is how do you cover your cupcakes with saran wrap without messing them up. That is my one problem with cupcakes is the ash, because I can't cover them. I haven't tried the alcohol yet. My slice soap I don't care too much if they ash, but the cupcakes look sad with them lol.
-
That is great Kari I'm glad it worked for you! I'm always unlucky sometimes I even get ash several days later lol
-
just posted a video on this and it will give you a idea of how thick the mixture should be, hope that helps
-
Karen uses pastry bags now, because she can't find the big ketchup bottles. I use both myself though esp with the giant tips.
-
Why would you need to put it in the freezer? Is this something new? I just let it sit until it thickens up enough to be piped out of a pastry bag

You can get it at http://www.buyactivatedcharcoal.com also, but you can find it in most health food stores in capsules or powder so you might want to try that if it's cheaper for you. Tell me guys though how do you clean black oxide?
-
Wow looks great for your first time I love the colors too!
-
I switched to charcoal a while back just for that reason of staining, plus not being able to clean black oxide off my soap utensils, sink and bowls. I've never had charcoal stain though. Hope that helps

Honey is my nemesis. I've only been soaping for 5 years now and I still can't conquer honey in soap! It always separates out even putting it in the frig so I feel your pain. Don't give up though we are bound to get it lol

Did I miss something? I just checked on the USPS website to order some of the new "C" boxes and they aren't listed. Maybe they won't be available online until Jan 22nd? I suppose that might be to make sure customers don't use them before then.
Yeah they do that every time a new box gets issued I don't know why it takes a least a week or more to get the boxes.
-
I got my boxes yesterday too. I swear I read that the C box will cost at the 17lb rate for up to 25lbs, but I could be wrong. I hope it's wrong though.
I've never had problems though with the postage changing. As long as you print them today you can still use them for monday. Maybe every po is different though?
-
I also keep peeking to minimum to avoid ash. In my experience you let the warmth out and you get ash. So I try to keep it covered until it's done doing its job. I wish I could keep it uncovered that would make my life so much easier lol.
-
That looks great for your first time I always peek, I'm afraid it will overheat and crack which I get a lot in my logs ugh. Though hubby forbids me sometimes for peeking lol. Pam if you peek too much you can get it to cool down and get a half gel. It's just cosmetic though you can still use it
-
Neat! I hope I get a sample soon I love those boxes!
-
I have read too those molds need to be broken in several times before the soap starts breaking the seal more easier.

How about using Jamaican ginger beer that you set out and flatten for a couple of days? You could use a nice light citrus fo to enhance the snappy ginger. The ginger beer is very dark so I doubt you can color but you could try some td and see how that works? HTH
Steve
What a great idea, but it would be hard to use it in soap that stuff is just so dang yummy lol

I usually eat dinner while watching tv and mix up some lye during the commercials. Can I rinse spilled lye with my jug of wine?
-
I usually use 1 tsp per lb of oils. It can depend on the oils you use too & fragrance since some discolor soap.
