So let me see if I got this right. Lets say your recipe needs 4ozlye to 10 oz of water. You make the lye solution 4 oz of lye with 5oz oz water. Then at trace you add the 5oz of milk that then =10? If that right I must try this. Do you put your mold in the frig too? I read something about that.
You are correct I've never put my mold in the frig, but if you don't want it to gel it might help with that

If I can find buttermilk already liquid at the grocery store, I'd definitely buy it over powdered and just freeze it as I plan on doing with GM and CM. Powder sounds nice for storage and all but I've read where we really have to stir and stir to be very careful not to have undissolved particles in the liquid.
Powdered is easy you just make a slurry with it and add it at trace, easy peasy

This sounds so much fun!

i have a great receipe for oatmeal soap that i used oatmeal milk and honey with. so creamy and lathers great. I need to find it and post it in the receipe area. i grinded my oatmeal up in my coffee bean grinder I made cold pour soap.
I still haven't mastered honey I always get separation I need to brave it and try another go at it.

I use the unsweetened almond milk, usually blue diamond, because that is what we drink and the soap comes out lovely. Just watch for the sugars in the almond milk, it can overheat. Almond is my new fav milk in soap

LOL I did a patch orange with a touch of vanilla oleoresin divine! Your blend sounds fantastic too I'll have to try it!

I don't use it in my lye mixture, I just use it as part of my water and add it at trace. I add the oatmilk and get it mixed in then I add the wet oats and make sure that is mixed in also. Now some people treat the oatmilk like regular milk and freeze it with the lye, but I've never done that and haven't had any issues with it so far the way I do it I'm not sure if it would scald though.
Lovely that soap sounds wonderful!

Good info I've never gotten the scratchies from oatmeal in soap, but I usually soak my oats in water first and pour off the oatmilk for the batch and then add my soaked oatmeal at trace so maybe that is why. Can't wait to hear your results!

Anyone smell this shampoo? It has such a wonderful scent, more floral than regular fructis, but not overpowering. This would be so lovely in soap if someone duped it

Vanilla is such a pain in the butt sometimes. I get that chemical smell a lot from them and I just hate it.
-
I would marry it if I could or if my hubby would let me lol.

Yeah I'm on that yahoo group, but it's very quiet at times. They mainly make the cooked cream soap and this is a little different. It's no biggie I can still use it though, it was fun to do and it's lovely soap

I got the itch to try some of of snowdrift farms cream soap. I beat it into submission to make sure if didn't separate it was fine for over a week until yesterday I noticed it had separated. Cream on top and clear liquid soap on the bottom. Has anyone had this problem? Every time I mix it back in it separates. TIA

Any tips on making a facial soap. I tried this on my face and it reeked havoc on my skin. On my hands and arms ok. I get these flare ups on my face they consist of redness and horrible itchy dry patches and the low sweat did it for me lol.

I read it's just oat flour finely ground oats correct?

Now that sounds cool steve! It's like a whole other world isn't it? I have so many things in my head and on paper I really don't know where to start lol.
-
I'm going to have to look for a safe place to put it if not I'll just put it in the freezer
-
Thanks Lorrie so much, such a great idea! I'll have to put it in a big tub so the squirrels and birds don't get into it lol.
-
Ok so no gel. I'm glad you guys mentioned that, because even if I put my soap in the coldest room it will gel lol. Ocean did you get any sweating when you used those bases?
-
Thank you! I did read to use the low sweat bases with CP is that what you use?
-
You should be able to they will also say non stick. Mine are by "if you care", but I bought them online. They have some paper liners that are lined with silicone now too. Just don't get the cheap paper ones you will have paper all over your soap, ask me how I know lol. Hope that helps!
-
This is something new to me and I was hoping anyone had some tips on working with MP bases with CP. Esp making embeds for inside the soap not on top.
-
Wow! Mine usually last a month or more sometimes a few weeks depending on the recipe. What do you superfat at? Looking at your numbers I think you need to add in a harder oil like palm. Your bar doesn't look that hard and it's melting faster esp with the 70% olive in there. I could be wrong though I've only been soaping for 5 years now so maybe a more experienced soaper can chime in since I never had this problem I'm hoping someone can help you, because I would hate for my soap to only last that long that's a bummer!
