Thank-you all for the comments and wonderful suggestions...I really like the lamp idea, but want to try the paperweight idea too...I have shells from every trip we have ever taken to the beach, so I should have enough shells to try both!
tried carving the spideys out, but didn't look right, and I do have orange ones to try too. Will try the heat gun too. Found a real spider in a can of left over wax today!
she was white, but I had a lot of red wax left over! ...I got the bears for a quarter a piece at the thrift store, so I thought I would experiment a bit.
Been having the worst time getting the wick right for this wax in a regular pillar size, so went with mini pillars...keeping my fingers crossed for the test burn.
I spent 2 hours sifting these teeny tiny shells from the Virginia Beach shoreline (on our honeymoon)...I still have about 2lbs of shells left over, but I don't want to make hurricanes for sale with the shells in them b/c of the sentimental value(sappy I know)...any creative suggestions as to what to make with the rest of the shells?
That is really amazing!! Did you wrap the whole mold in the icepack then pour the layers regularly?? I am trying to get my mind around this technique. The affect you achieved is really stunning and I would like to try it.
