  1. Thanks guys, I feel better now. I just hate losing a customer that bought from me every paycheck, she even refered people to me to.

And as far as the dirty guy goes, he wants to buy $200 to start with. He says he wants to have them in his shop by Christmas. He said you wouldn't believe how many people come into his shop, during Christmas. I said ya probably alot of men, he told me NO, alot of women come in. I was shocked.

So he thinks a candle line would be a great add on. And I think so to.

And like you guys said and also my mom. Fundraiser Oppertunities are everywhere, you just have to go for it yourself. My neices are involved in many things, my son is going to school this year, and my mother is involved in many things with the community. So who needs her.

Anyways, I'll update you to tell you the names he picks out for the candles. Cherry I could come up with several names, but banana I haven't a clue, but I can just imagine the name is going to be hilarious.

I'm going to the store tonight, to drop off samples of the candles that he requested.

    Wish me luck, lol

  2. Keep the results coming Henryk.....I used to use Joy and now am on to the 70/30 with great results. I cannot even remember why I quit using the Joy other than I have a short attention span. I use the wick-it wicks 700 series. I am just ready to turn professional after 1 and a half years of testing.

  3. New to candlemaking, just started couple months ago and really like it. This message board has been great.

Currently I am making votives and container jars, using EL Millenium, but having problems with rough tops on the containers. Personally I like a smooth top, and I want a great fragrance.

I've read about CB135 and GL 70/30 on this site. What is the difference? Which would you choose and why?

I would choose GL 70/30 as it is very easy to work with and has an awsome throw with very little cure time. This is a container wax only and is very soft. I used the CB 135 a long time ago and did not like the throw but I know some of the others on here like it.

  4. It is a blend. Paraffin and Soy

I have found that these wicks work well is all the waxes I have tested them in. From what I understand, the Superior wicks are designed for the Paraffin and the Premier (? I think that is what they are called) wicks are designed for the Veggie waxes.

I have been using the 700 series in greenleaf 70/30 do you think that is the best bet? I like them but am always looking for the BEST!

  5. The sample wicks came to me right when I was just about ready to throw in the towel....and I am dead serious! I purchased every wick available (literally!) trying to get the burn I wanted and still be able to load up on FO the way I wanted without the soot when the wax started reaching the bottom of the container. They were just magical for me in my application. I love Wick It Superior wicks! I have reordered twice since my initial order and they are ON IT! I usually have the wicks in Dallas 3...4 days MAX after placing my order. I am using the 615,620,625 and 630 wicks and FINALLY love my product!~
With what type of wax, if you don't mind me asking.

  6. Do you use wick stickums? I am kinda wondering if that is what is keeping it from going all the way down. Also if you don't mind my asking Do you make your own wicks or by them pretabbed? I was also wondering if the neck on the tab is too tall. Thx for help!

    Rebecca

It could be the height of your neck tab that is keeping it from burning all the way down. Some leftover wax in the container is good to avoid fires.

  7. Thanks for the tip! I just poured with 2 HTP 73's. This is the first time I've double wicked. Using chopsticks to hold the wick in place after pouring isn't working well w/double wicks - I'm going to have to find another method.
I take 2 craft sticks (popsicle sticks) put them together and secure them with clothespins. Make sure they are pulled tight. Works great and is cheap!

  8. I was at my hair salon the other day and they had a Gold Canyon candle burning at the register. Very interesting I must say......Black soot all over the jar......off center double wicks and BIG mushrooms on the wicks. So for all of us out there in candle land that is very good news as OURS are better!

  9. Hi,

Is the Perfect Blend the Perfect Blend from Greenleaf? If so, which batch is it? I have tested the #3 batch and found that it was good with double wicking -- did not get too deep of a meltpool too quick. However, my jars are not the same as yours. The jar I tested it in is 3 1/4 inches from side to side and then 4 inches from corner to corner. I used 2 Hemp Lg. + and the flames were not too big and did not get too small later in the burn. The LX's may burn hotter than the Hemps, but I am not sure. I never seem to have much luck with LX's for one reason or the other so I am not real knowledgeable on the LX's.

If you are testing the #4 batch, then it may be that it burns faster than what I tested. Brenda from Greenleaf told me that we would get a better meltpool with batch #4 than batch #3. This is a good thing with single wicking, but could cause the meltpool to get too deep too fast with double wicking. This is not be good for my situation since I double wick.

Keep testing. Try other types of wicks. You might want to try the Hemps or the RRD's. I will be ordering the batch #4 soon. I will let you know how it goes for me if this is what you are testing.

How do we know what batch # we have. I have some wax here and am not sure which # it is.

  10. Well, just got through the first four hour burn with a single Premier 798 wick. Indonesian Teak at 7.7% (don't ask how I got there). I let the candle cure for two days. The cold throw was not burn-your-nosehairs strong, but was still pretty good. And the Teak is an awesome FO! I am definitely getting more. The hot throw was very good, and the Teak smells even better hot. However, it definitely needs two wicks in the 4" melting pot jar. The single 798 is the largest Premier wick made and it would have tunneled pretty significantly. I'll be checking on a starting point for double wicking and see how the next burn goes.

    Till then Happy Easter! geek

I use the same wicks as well and double wick my larger jars. I think it makes it easier to tweak.
